View 1 RepliesI use Calibre to manage my .epub files, and these files are located in folders within folders within folders. My questions is whether I can use Windows Explorer to see all of the .epub files located located in my Calibre Library (which is the folder which contains all of the other folders/files) without having to go into each individual folder and copy the individual files out.
View 1 RepliesWhen renaming a file in File Explorer I am frequently, but not always, stymied by the system re-selecting the entire filename whilst I am in the midst of editing it. It occurs anytime from 1-2s after I start editing up to 10s or more. I typically am using the back arrow to move to the point I am editing, and Shift+arrow to select text. It may happen before or after I have used Shift+arrow to select text.It's frustrating because I have to essentially anticipate the system possibly reselecting the whole filename, and if it does, restart my edit again.

I can copy them one at a time, but I would like to be able to select several picture by hitting the ctrl key or the shift key, but when I bring up the on screen keyboard, that does not work. View 5 RepliesI realized recently that I don't have a default browser, so I went to Settings, then to Default Apps to select one. However, when I went to choose a default, I got a message saying that "There is no installed app for this type of file or protocol."
Where there should be a list of browsers for me to choose from, there was only a link to the app store which took me to a page entitled "Results for 'http'." What is going on? I have Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer installed on my computer, and they showed up on the list of apps under "Apps and Features."
I tried to choose an app by file type and by protocol, but got the same results. I also tried to set defaults by app, and upon selecting Google Chrome from the list, clicked "Set this program as default," but nothing changed. What should I do to fix this?

Inside this folder I have folder named FLAC.
MP3 folder has Name, Title, Artist, Type, Bitrate columns.
How to make FLAC folder to display the same things in the same exact arrangements?
If I have FLAC 1, FLAC 2, FLAC3 then to set up manually would be a nightmare.
There is a tutoral on this issue, but it doesn't solve the central problem, which is, where is the folder? I mean, which drive is it on?
The image shown in the tutoral gives the file path as beginning with "This PC". But WHERE on this PC?
My PC has several drives, and with Windows Explorer being increasingly dumbed down to support people who don't maintain logically arranged folder systems, life is becoming harder for the rest of us. I want to transfer individual files on Gladinet to Amazon AWS, where for cost reasons I store and share our company's 100 GB of data. But I can't transfer them if I don't know what drive they're on.
I have a few problems with Edge. On my desktop edge will not display any .pdf files. I get a "something prevented edge from displaying this file" or some such thing.
I then switch to IE11 and all is fine. Adobe reader is installed.

So whenever I'm setting up my background, it applies the image to both without giving me the option to set for a certain monitor.

View 1 RepliesI have two HDD drives - C (main drive) and D (storage) Drive C has windows 10 installed (upgrade from 7 today) and seems to be running OK
Prior to the Windows 10 install I had problems accessing the D drive drive so I booted from a Linux Mint disc in order to access my stuff on D, all went well and I created two folders with my stuff in them ready to access once I had upgraded to Windows 10.
Installed Windows 10 on C drive, all working great, I can see both HDD, I can see and access both drives, I can access one folder on the D drive and see all my files inside but i can't access the other folder on the D drive named "documents" Windows 10 says it's a system (.sys file) and asks for an app to open it.
Have I lost all my stuff in that folder ...
Button for new folder exists but does nothing. This is a new problem and system restore to oldest restore point did not work. Have run scf scan without errors. Have confirmed permission to modify parent file folder. I can rename existing folders. Have run Bitdefender & CCleaner registery cleaners.
View 14 RepliesThe Cortana button shows up on the task bar, but when I click on it to access the "Run" feature (Which should have stayed in the Start Menu), nothing happens. The window doesn't open anymore. This just started happening a few weeks ago.
Also, I cannot add new desktop wallpapers. I'm stuck with the current one, and if I try to add a new one, my desktop turns black.
I really like the current lock screen wallpaper (the one you see before you click and the password screen shows up) and I want to set it as my desktop wallpaper, but I can't find it! Where is it located?

I have certain folders I must refer to frequently and I'd like to create a shortcut which would pop one open in a new window without having to wade through the whole drive's folder structure. This was normal on my last pc running XP but I can't seem to duplicate in Win10.
I just upgraded my Windows 8 OS to Windows 10 and it has left.Old.windows folder.with many included files on my Harddrive. I have already backed up and transferred all the files I wanted to keep from that old version and wish to delete that file and all that is in it. But it seems not to allow me to do that. I have tried numerous times with Admin privileges and it still will not allow be to delete.

I hate 'quick access', it slows everything down so much and makes all other folders invisible - I just want the normal file list visible and file explorer to open in the same folder as I was using before, in that list. What's worse, if I click the New Folder button under the File Explorer top menu, there is no response. In the end, I can only create new folders using command lines but not by the usual shortcuts.

"This file does not have a program associated . Please install a program or , if one is already installed , create an association in the Default Programs control panel "
The only way to open the folder is to use right mouse button click and choose open, very annoying to work like this. The only strange thing I see is that when I klick right mousebutton on top it seems windows wants to open my folder with "cmd"...

I am having repeated problems with text and folders sizes. I had set them up to suit me a while ago, but every now and then they change, apparently by themselves - perhaps after an upgrade? I certainly don't remember making any changes myself.
At the moment the folders I have on my home screen are very small and bunched up into the top left hand corner of the screen. And the text labels to the folders are almost too small for my tired old eyes to read.
How do I get the folders to be bigger, the same size as I had them in Windows 7? And how to I get the text labels to be the same size as they were before? I already have text size set to 175%.
Also, when I open a folder or list contents in some programs the text looks fainter than it should, and has a strange look to it - certainly not the same as when I was running Windows 7; it's much poorer.
