View 1 RepliesStart, right click, Control Panel, Hardware and Devices: my camera (Nikon D7000) comes up. Import pictures fails. The error message says: 'no pictures or videos were found on this device'. Did the same thing on my Windows 7 machine (good thing its not yet upgraded). It correctly found 58 pictures and imported them.
View 9 RepliesI read your article, really, I'm still struggling with windows 10. I cannot import my pics! it finds all the pictures, but I don't get the "start importing?" message!
View 1 RepliesI'm stumped but before I upgrade to Windows 7. I have 1000's of photos stored on a separate hard drive system. In Win 7 I had set up auto play to save the photos to a folder on the external drive. In Win 10 I can't seem to do this, I've been to Settings/Devices - Auto Play, and in the end the only way round was to change the path of the system folder 'pictures' to the path on the drive. Photos now get imported to the right place but I'm not happy it being a system folder and the photos are imported into a folder named by the date. In Win 7 I could tag the photos on import and the folder & photos would be named with the tag and numbered sequentially. I need this functionality back.
View 3 RepliesWhenever I connect my camera, I see these options:
I have no interest in using the rubbish "Photos app" to import my pictures.
I want to use the built-in Import Wizard in Windows 10, which can be found by going to "This PC" and right clicking camera/tablet, then clicking "Import Pictures and Videos".
The "Import Pictures and Videos" wizard is vastly superior to the "Photos app" crap. How can I put the "Import Pictures and Videos" option in AutoPlay, like in Windows 7/Vista/XP? If I recall correctly, Windows 8 also had this problem. It had the built-in wizard along with the rubbish "Photos app", but only the "Photos app" appeared in AutoPlay.
How can I download photos from my memory stick. I insert the reader in the usb socket I hear the normal sound but nothing shows on the screen. This only happened since I upgraded to windows 10
View 4 RepliesI have installed Windows10 on a Gateway FX530 desktop PC. All has gone well with one exception. The OS seems to recognize that there is a card reader attached, I can see them through Device manager. When I insert a SD card the system completely ignores the device and will not allow me to access it. I have tried to change the drivers, without success. This card reader worked just fine with Windows 7 Pro and there was no indication that they would not work with Windows 10 when I ran the upgrade test.
View 2 RepliesI have tried inserting my card into slot, I get message, connect a device and try again.it wont read the card.
View 1 RepliesI bought a new PC with W10. How to import email from Windows Live Mail in W10 Mail?
View 3 RepliesI have the iPhone 6s plus. I am using windows 10 pro. I am having an access denied error when trying to erase the photos-videos after import. I can't find the answer anywhere.
To get the import started you have to plug in the phone via USB. Then in file explorer you right click the icon and select the importing option. Setup the options etc. and select import. Everything works great up until it starts to erase the files off the device and then I get that error displayed in the image below.
I have a contacts cvs file from my live mail 2012 but have not been able to import it to the People app.

I put the memory card from my Nikon dig. camera into my card reader, I plugged the card reader into my computer USB, and the photos appear on the screen. But, there's no clickable link at all for me to import and/or save them. I need to send them to someone and find no way to do it....
Across the top of the photos it only says this and not as links:
Upper right: Photos
A little below: Select items to import from E:/
A little lower: New Items (Clicking on this it makes my pix on the screen disappear, and clicking again brings them back!)
And below that: November 2015 (date I did this). And on same line: Clear (Clears the check-marks on each photo).
When I plug in an SD card from my camera I get a window titled COLLECTION, with a pop-up saying "Is this the right device? We couldn't find anything to import on this device."
I can of course browse to the SD card, but I quite liked the import feature.
[Later] If I change the AutoPlay default to use Windows Live Photo Gallery rather than Pictures, it seems to work, but I don't really like WLPG.
I exported a key (ieshims) to document folder. I made corrections using Notepad++ to some paths and saved it. I imported the key back and everything went fine.
The problem is that when I go back to look at my corrections in the registry, nothing is updated. The old key is shown.
The reason I exported/imported the key is that regedit doesn't allow me to make correction of a path on the left side of the key i.e. paths.
I really like IE feature to easy import/export Favorites to pen drive or any other destination. EDGE offers only to import Favorites from IE which is a deal breaker for me. I have seen advices to copy Favorite file from EDGE directory which is buried deep in the system and cumbersome to use. Is there plan to add this IE feature of easy import/export Favorites to EDGE?
View 1 RepliesIs it possible to import folders from Outlook 2010 into Windows mail? I have a few bespoke folders that I use a lot.
View 2 RepliesFinally managed to import my thousands of saved emails (had to buy a program to do it) but cannot get them to be sub-folders of the inbox, only down at the bottom as "Outlook data file". Cannot import contacts. I export to csv but they import blank, now I have about 100 blank contacts that this POS won't let me delete.I have 3 accounts, comcast, gmail, and outlook.com. All are IMAP accounts.
When I started this process hours ago, I was hoping the following could be done:
-Have one combined inbox
-Have all my saved local folders as a sub of that inbox
-Have a complete address book that I'm able to use and edit
For some reason, I cannot import this registry script I made. Syntax seems to be correct. I'm thinking it's most likely an invalid key somewhere. Look at the attachment, what is causing this error: "The specified file is not a registry script."
View 2 RepliesI've just bought a new pc with Windows 10 installed on it -my last pc ran Vista with Windows Mail. I can't find a way to import all my email folders from Vista to 10. Everything was organised on my last pc - I had about 15 folders containing emails from Amazon/ebay/paypal/friends/car clubs/family/work etc. etc. etc. Now, after two weeks with Windows 10, not only can't I import my folders and emails, but the email interface itself looks a right shambles. It seems to be designed for 6 year olds. I want a more professional looking interface like my old Vista Mail (or like my Outlook I use in work.
View 12 RepliesToday I used a registry cleaner to fix my slow system, but instead of repairing it it made my PC stuck in user login bootloop, but they backed up the registry and I have it. So the question is, how can I import the registry in this non-booting PC?
I tried running RegEdit from CMD from Repair DVD, but "load hives" is greyed out!
Why the folder where the photos are is what opens up when I plug in a usb camera and not the photo app. I have autoplay enabled and photo as my default photo viewer.
View 2 RepliesI have a pc updated from 7 to 10 and now wish to get rid of my old xp pc. I have copied my folders and contacts from Outlook Express. In W10 Mail I have set up the email system and can log on perfectly and see all the new stuff. I cannot find anyway to import my contacts or folders full of saved emails into W10 Mail. Is there a way to do this or has MS given up on stuff from Outlook Express?
View 3 RepliesI have probably 100+ Metro IE bookmarks in win 8.1, when upgrading to Win 10 these bookmarks get deleted, their is no mechanism to save them or import them to Edge or Desktop IE.
WTF is going on with this? Why is MS so content to just kick Win 8 users with no recourse to at least allow all their data to carry over?
Whenever I plug a photo card in to my PC, the new Photo Viewer program is launched (which doesn't find the card but that doesn't matter as I don't want to use that program anyway). How can I change the default import program to one of my choice (Lightroom).
I can of course shut it down, load Lightroom and then select the card but I always have to go through the process of first shutting down the program that loads automatically. If anything is going to load automatically I would rather pick my own!
I swear I had a import photos and videos option for devices on Windows 10 but now it seems I don't. This is what I get for options.I don't even have the options in my autoplay settings and default settings.
View 9 RepliesI have saved my favorites in the default folder, they appear and work in ie, but when I try and import them in to edge the error states:
Couldn't import favorites
Not very informative?
