View 1 RepliesWell before some months i updated my windows 7 to windows 10.. ALL GOOD my pc is faster.. okay all works fine except my reader which I didn't check it on time..So recently i found that my reader ( drw 00032dvdrw lg 22x sata black) don't read any discs! it has power but it doesn't read! I unplugged it several times ( 2 times with power on and 1 time with power off..) I also can`t find it on the device manager so I thought that my system cant find it because of the changes that may have been from the update 10 . After that big finding, I searched for any update for the reader but i cant find anything...
View 1 RepliesSo, I did a custom install on my laptop to Windows 10. I will like to know if it is possible for me to revert back to my previous windows version using the recovery discs I created?
View 2 RepliesSince upgrading to Windows 10 my PC has been unable to read any CD/DVD disc I put in. I hear it spinning so I doubt there's any problem with the CD/DVD Drive itself.
I was thinking it could be a driver issue, but there doesn't seem like there's any problems with it. (As usually there's a yellow ! mark if there seems to be a problem.) How to resolve the issue?
I can't seem to get Netflix or Hulu plus to work via the apps. I've gone through all the windows updates, tried to figure out the video players. Sometimes, when I play Netflix, it says system configuration error, and to check my windows update and my video player. I've done all of that. Sometimes, it plays sound, but there's no visual.
View 1 RepliesNewish computer, recently upgraded to Windows 10.
Trying to do a PC Reset via the settings to wipe clean to sell it. When I click Reset in the Recovery menu of the Settings, I get a scrolling wheel for a second or so, and then nothing. It's as if something on the computer is blocking the computer from being reset.
When I try from the Advanced startup, it goes through a normal restart but doesn't do anything else.
I know that in the week that my mother had this computer, she managed to get a couple viruses from 3rd party search bars that she was prompted to download which were causing issues. I wonder if I didn't get it all cleaned off and there is something that won't let the computer reset?
A few years ago i bought a windows 8.0 pro upgrade dvd with a windows 8 pro upgrade key.
Will this windows 8.0 pro upgrade key work when i do a clean install of windows 10 pro version 1511?Or will it only work with a full licence key?
I've recently upgraded to Windows 10 Pro from Windows 7 Professional. Since doing so I've had some annoying internet connectivity issues (Windows Sockets entries missing) among other things. So I decided I'd try the recovered features. None of them work for me. I click on them and my mouse icon does the load symbol then nothing happens. Even if I shift click Restart on and try to initiate reset from there nothing happens.
View 2 RepliesI install Windows to vhdx in hyper-v. I make two users, make some updates and install some apps. I make sysprep and copy vhdx to another PC and boot from this.
After this, start menu does not work. i can not tun no modern apps, and Notifications panel does not works too. When I make new user, all works fine. I need to make this work for the already created User.
I installed (took 8 hours of updating 7 then installing 10) windows 10 and it worked for a few minutes but then I added some software.
Control panel won't work, settings wont work, I cannot uninstall software, I cannot get to reset, restore is turned off (I did not turn it off), safe mode will not work.
Sometimes it will boot sometimes not. No I cannot boot to safe mode when I get logged in, I set boot mode to safe but it did not work.
I want to tool back to 7 but I don't have a disc. If I am forced to stay with 10 how can I reset it? There is no disc.
I have upgraded my 7 install to Windows 10 this morning. All works fine & 10 says my copy is genuine and validated.
After that, I decided to create a copy of 10 install on DVD with the Windows 10 tool.
At lauch of install, Windows doesn't recognize my old 7 key. I thought "ok maybe it will activate at the end of install"
But NO ! I get my clean & fresh install of 10 but it doesn't activate my copy.
So Win7/8 users who wants Win10, you should install your old version and make the upgrade manually. each time...
Even though my computer worked fine before I left for my vacation, I still saw the following screen after I returned immediately when I turned it on.
I put in my windows 10 installation usb drive and press F12 for the boot menu. And this screen comes up.
I choose the bottom one(the windows 10 installation usb drive) and the following error screen comes up.
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc & reboot.
2. Choose language and click next.
3. Click "Repair your computer".
If you don't have this disc, contact your system administrator or manufacturer for assistance.
File: EFIMicrosoftBootBCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: The Boot Configuration Data for your PC is missing or contains errors.
it says insert the installation media when I already have it inserted! What do I do to start windows again?
I have installed the Win 10 enterprise LTSB the trial version. So far, so good, with the exception of two details:
- The scrolling of inactive windows isn't working properly. I mean, it works only when the "Settings" window is the active, then I can scroll the inactive windows underneath it, but nothing else.
- I tried to update the system, hoping that it would fix the issue, but it doesn't download anything.
Maybe the update function is disabled in the trial version?
Currently we run 5 workstations on win7/8 on old hardware. In the near future, we want to migrate to windows 10 - and use the free upgrade offer from ms.Problem is, we'll get new hardware for all workstations. So the plan is, to build the new hardware. install win7/8 on every new hardware and use the free upgrade on the new hardware. After that, a new clean-install will be made.the clue is, besides the OS it'll take very much time to install all 3rd party software on the machines. To skip this work, we would like to duplicate the harddisk after the setup of the whole system is done. This should be possible from driver-side, because the hardware will be identical.
But now comes the win10 licence question :-) I know win10 will recognice the hardware and validate the licence due to the win7 upgrade. but what will happen if i switch the harddisk to the new system?or i can try to keep the system unlicenced (no network connection. Best way?) until i mirror the harddisk. There is no internet to update the other parts of the system ...
I did an Upgrade from W7 Pro 64 bit to Windows 10 and it worked fine but the three printers attached to the computer no longer work. The print Spooler is stopped and all efforts to restart it fail with Error 0x80070057 "Incorrect parameter".
View 7 RepliesI cannot get the sfc to work in windows 10, all I get is an explanation of the checking modes. I have logged in as administrator and put in sfc /scannow...
View 1 RepliesI have just installed windows 10 and I am listed as the administrator. However, if I try to save a newly written document in a folder that I have always previously used for that purpose, I get a message which says:- You don't have permission to save in this location. Contact the administrator to obtain permission. Would you like to save in the Documents folder instead?
I have also noticed that many folders in my C: drive have a small icon attached (a tiny box with a blue top and right facing arrow head). If I try to access any of these folders I am refused permission with the message "access denied". For example, if I try to enter a folder shown as C:/users/all users/documents I get this message. There are dozens of places where this 'blue arrowhead' occurs.
Impossible to get local printer to link to windows 10.

View 4 RepliesI am in the UK. I have changed the region, language, keyboard and system locale all to US English and it still flippin doesn't work. Says Cortana is not available for your market. What am I doing wrong? Am on latest build on Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet.
View 1 RepliesUSB flash drive works fine, printer works fine, just any mouse. The laptop is a Compaq C500. Tried updating driver in Device Manager but I get an error: windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device. Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it. The driver installation file for this driver is missing a necessary entry. This may be because the inf was written for windows 95 or later. I went to the Intel(R) N10/ICH7 Family USB Universal Host Controller - 27Ca and downloaded the most recent driver but when it tries to install it just says error encounter setup will cancel.
View 1 RepliesSo I had Windows 8 and upgraded to Windows 10 now my mouse won't move . I can't click on any options I can only bring up task manager. One tech support guy told me I'd have to bring my computer in to reinstall Windows 8 because it doesn't show up as an option when I tried to reset it. But ive noticed a lot of people had this problem should I take It in or do any of you have something that works so I don't have to pay.
View 1 RepliesMy 2 USB 2.0 hubs on my case won't work, while the 3.0 works just fine. I've tried updating drivers, reinstalling them, and even uninstalling every USB driver and updating all of them. I finally went to:
C:WindowsSystem32DriverStoreFileRepositoryusbstor.inf_amd64_b9f7cf2be3ee13d5 a
And there are only 2 files in the folder: usbstor.inf and USBSTOR.SYS. I'm missing usbstor.pnf, could this be why my USB 2.0 ports won't work? If so, where can I get this file at? I can't find it anywhere.
So after I updated to windows 10, all my settings went back to default (custom resolution, monitor icc profiles etc). That was fine, I changed it all back but one thing I cant get fixed is the fact that my mic from my iphone headphones will not work as they did prior to this install). The problem is 100% with realtek audio manager and i cant seem to find the settings that would fix it. I know its realtek because after I uninstall realtek and restart, my default sound card goes to HD audio manager instead of realtek and then my mic works perfectly fine right after.
How I can get realtek to make my mic work? or to uninstall realtek as a whole? Every time I uninstall realtek, it automatically installs its way back to my computer.
Also, my webcam that is connected to a usb in the rear works perfectly fine, however, the quality of it isnt as good as my iphone headphones so i'd still like to get that fixed.
I don't use cortana, and I was expecting the search bar in start to function like Windows 7. I don't understand the point of the search bar, all it seems to be able to do is show apps and search the web. Even the list "all apps" in start seems to be a random selection of programs that are actually installed.
Steam has a shortcut on the desktop and takes up most of my HDD, but when i type "steam" into the search bar it couln't find anything. Why can't it search files/folders/programs?I know it's easy to use windows explorer, but it's frustrating having a nicely layed out search bar on the desktop that can't search properly.
cannot get the webcam to work. Device Manager does not show any problems, but I see that there is no imaging device for the webcam! It worked under Windows 8.1 fine.
