i just realise my laptop got a window 10 upgrade for free.My internet speed is not very fast, everytime i close and open it, it restart from 0%My internet download has no limit but its just not very fast...So can i pause and resume the download??
View 14 RepliesI do not know why, but ever since (thats when I started downloading again) I have upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10, downloading is really difficult. when I was still using 8.1, I used Orbit downloader to download my files, but since I have upgraded to windows 10, all apps were lost, and for some reason I cant download Orbit again.
Now I have been switching from on Download manager to the other, from Eagle Get, IDM, Jdownloader. still my download speed SUCK, it is slow as a turtle. but when I am playing online games it is fine, my ping is good, when I am streaming videos it is also fast. but when it comes to downloading IT IS SLOW. why ? is it because of the download manager ? I remember updating my Battlefield 4 and the speed is good. but now, it so slow.
my internet speed is fast,i am unable to use it(i.e. in notebook I am unable to display interest also voice is not working).This service is not available in our region but as changing REGION and LANGUAGE option to United States(US), it worked. My friends are able to use it even in slow internet connection but I am unable to use it.

After downloading Windows 10, my internet speed went significantly down, from 35 mbps to 4 mbps. I recovered my original Windows 8.1, hoping it was the new Windows that was causing the problem, but my computer is still very slow compared to what it used to be. I know the problem is in my computer because the three other PC's in my house are all working at normal speeds. I ran a virus scan with no luck. Could the Windows 10 upgrade have installed something that's still slowing down my internet?
View 1 RepliesI got an aorus x5 about 1 week ago which came with windows 8.1 which I immediatly upgraded to windows 10, but the internet dowload speeds are incredibly slow purely on that laptop, I have tested the internet speeds using speedtest.net and on my old laptop (an msi gp60 2pe) I am getting 40.23 mbps download and 7.67 mpbs upload with a ping of 17ms on firefox, on my phone (a sony xperia z3) I am getting ping 20ms, download of 26.96mbps and upload of 8.84mbps on their app, and on my aorus I am getting anything from 0.01mbps to 4.36 mbps dowload and 8.67mbps to 8.92mbps upload with a ping of 9-14ms, having tested with edge, ie, firefox, chrome and opera. I am not running any amd hardware and I have disabled bandwith control through killer network manager, however at the time of writing when I test through killer I got 4.98 and through firefox I get 1.42 (both use speedtest.net), so I would assume it is a regulator of some sort, but I can't find one anywhere. I also get reasonable speeds through steam (around 11mbps) but it is quite a way off the 35 mbps down and 7mbps up I am supposed to get

Firefox is running at it's normal speed but when I try to connect to ANY website it seems to take forever to connect. My wife's laptop running the normal release of 10 has same problem. Have tried everything i can think of but no success.
Up until recently Ive had a steady and stable internet connection on all devices, however recently on one laptop the connection is now incredibly slow (multiple tests on bandwidthplace.com show download speeds of 0.1 Mbps while on another laptop connected to the same connection shows over 7mbps). Connection to my android phone works fast too, I don't know what is making this happen, Ive tried resetting the router, refreshing the connection, releasing/renewing the ip. Not sure what to do here, as I don't have this problem connected to other networks, and other devices on this network aren't experiencing the same issues.
I also updated to the latest available driver from my manufacturer's website and I'm not 100% sure if I have all the latest windows updates since the connection is barely sustained, but I believe I do as I frequently manually check for updates in addition to automatic updates being enabled.

I just updated to Windows 10 but I think the problem was with Windows 8 too, Sometimes my internet is out on my PC while the internet is still up on my brothers PC, tho this problem happens about 3 times a very few days.. We have 5+ computers in the house and 4 are on daily while 3 is being used daily the 4th one is not very used daily and sometimes off most of the time. So the 2 computers have Windows 10 and 3rd computer has Windows 7 while the 4th computer has Windows 10 also. I read on an article which says that Windows 10 uses bandwidth without you know and I checked task manager and on windows 8 my CPU and Memory was just fine and when I upgraded to Windows 10 my CPU spiked to about 20% and Memory spiked to about 72% and sometimes random numbers appear on all 4 sections( CPU, Memory, Disk, Network).

View 1 RepliesI have a new configuration (z170 chipset, i3-6320, fast SSD) for my desktop and it boots slower than my laptop (Acer V3-574G (i7-5500) with the same SSD as my desktop). I don't think the i3-6320 vs i7-5500 can explain such difference.First thing is that Hibernation and Fastboot are activated but not working on my dektop PC: command "Get-WinEvent -ProviderName Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-boot -MaxEvents 10 | Where-Object {$_.id -like 27}" gives me 0x0 (cold boot from full shutdown). When I restart it never asks who's account I want to logon to, just goes to mine. Of the three computer I've upgraded this is the first to do this. Also in the power options I can't find the option for fast boot.

View 7 RepliesIssues regarding hibernation on laptop? Since upgrading to Windows 10 I've noticed that my laptop seems to be going into hibernation much more quickly than it did in Windows 7. I checked my settings and my screen saver settings and so on are setup to those recommended by HP but these do not seem to be having an impact on hibernation. What's particularly frustrating is that even when it's plugged in if you have a long download/install/update you must keep the machine active by moving the mouse or be active on the keyboard or it will go into hibernation mode very quickly (under 5 minutes).
View 4 RepliesLaptop is Lenovo X220 that had Windows 7 Pro and upgraded to W10. It has had already 5 vanilla installs of 10 Pro 1511 on it.
2x install with an old 3.5" 5400 RPM stock HDD drive and the 4-5th and final install with an upgrade to an SSD. The HDD was changed to SSD because of me thinking the HDD was dead and was causing the computer to lock up at boot.
Tried 3 different operating systems on the machine as well, Windows 7 (no problems) (stock with computer), Windows 8.1 (with Fast Boot) enabled and no problems on Windows 8.1 O/S and finally W10 PRO 1511, vanilla from Microsoft directly.
For some reason after W10 installs, does its updates, reboots, drivers are updated and everything seems fine after a couple of reboots and such. Works normally, wakes up from sleep. Only 3 programs get added. Firefox, Chrome and WinRar.
After that shutdowns OK, but when she boots up it gets past the welcome screen and hangs on the desktop. Complete hang everything becomes unresponsive, but the mouse pointer. I can dance the pointer around but No keyboard input no GUI input, nothing. Only way to come out is with a POWER BUTTON DOWN. Was trying to solve this issue since December and never found any solution, thought it was drivers or internet, or hardware but nothing, no dice. Even if it didn't connect to the internet after install and a program or 2 were added via USB and I shut down it would hang upon next boot.
So I did reading and reading and researching and I came upon a thread that mentioned W10 hangs on welcome screen with Fast Boot on, I thought no this can't be it because I make it past the welcome screen. I hang on the desktop when I'm actually in Windows. I can manage to click Start button and the system will hang. Only way to get it to respond is to hold down the power and power it down. Temps seem OK, MEMTEST came back fine, replaced HDD with SSD, only other thing I could think out was drivers or hardware (mobo) failure or something else ....
Then I decided to clean install update drivers via Internet, reboot and then disable FAST BOOT via @Brink regedit hack, because for some weird reason, on this machine on every clean install, FAST BOOT IS NEVER SHOWED in the POWER menu. I could not understand this. I do not have this option at all like @Brink has in his diagram photo. The option is just not there!!! But the registry though the hiberbootenabled value is set to "1".
So two questions, why is it checked and greyed out (that I cannot uncheck it) and 2, the only way I was able to change the value was manually via @Brink registry edit.
OPTION 2 - using a bat file because option 1 was unavailable.

Once I disabled FAST BOOT, the laptop has been fine since. No locking up anymore period!
SSD is 850EVO and W10 PRO is the only O/S on the machine, legit with digital entitlement upgraded from W7 PRO key on the Lenovo, because its an X220 thinkpad so 'business' series. No problems since.
#1 Fast Boot option to disable on startup is not avialable on the machine? Value is "1" in registry but cannot make changes to it via control panel as it simply is just not there. (This was the case with both HDD and new SSD). Windows 8.1 shows the option, not 10.
#2 Hangs on startup after welcome screen
#3 Only way to prevent is to run the .bat file from @Brink or manually edit value in regedit, save, exit, shutdown, go on with life.
AFAIK value in REGISTRY is set at '0' and machine works ....
Brink has this option on his machine via control panel but I do not on the laptop. Brinks:

I deleted a couple of files that I later wanted to restore. After a couple of hours the recycle bin emptied everything in it. How do you reset the time it keeps files in the recycle bin so as to make them easy to restore?

1. The screen never appears past the post bios screen.
2.Wifi won't connect. I have to manually disable the wireless adapter and then enable it.
If the fast start up is disabled then this won't occur.
Since installing Windows 10 my lap top battery drains very fast and sometimes goes from 30/40 % to shut down in minutes.
