View 5 RepliesAt the moment I have a Local login and I am considering changing to a Microsoft login. If I do, does this mean that when my PC starts from a boot, that instead of the pin that I use to login to my account on the PC, I will be asked to login with both my Microsoft account username and password? If I make a mistake will I be locked out of my PC?
View 3 RepliesI have successfully installed windows 10. I am having difficulty trying to login to my Live ID though.
1: I go to my account.
2: I click change account settings.
3: I see that i am a "local account administrator."
4: I click "sign in with a microsoft account instead"
5: Box pops up, loads for about 2 seconds then i see "something went wrong. Try again, or select cancel to set up your device later."
6: I click retry and the error continues to pop up.
I am connected to internet. My computer met the spec requirements and runs very fast. Everything else on the computer works. Prior to installing windows 10. i factory reset the laptop. Got all appropriate Windows 7 updates before installing 10. Setting up a second account is also impossible. I receive the same error.
If you installed Windows 10 and are not able to login with PIN, I found this solution: Source
View 1 RepliesAfter my update there are no settings anymore to configure alternative logins like pin.
View 3 RepliesI don't see any way to do it.
View 1 RepliesWould like to log in on the computer start up without using password.
View 1 Repliesyesterday I loaded up a game and noticed that I had really bad lag. Eventually I found out that my PC said that my nvidia gpu was missing (the nvidia control panel said so). I tired fixing it in a number of ways but none worked. I uninstalled my gpu driver and got driver sweeper which asked me if I wanted to reboot in safe mode and I pressed yes.
Then my PC went to a black screen and stayed that way until today. I followed some random person online's idea to take out my ram and put it back in - it worked. Now another (and the main) problem. Windows 10 loaded up into the log in screen. One weird thing is that it is zoomed in by a lot which I did not do. Here's the main problem I'm having. I tried to put in the password for my email associated with my PC account log in system.
I tried a bunch of passwords but none has worked so far. I've tried f8 but to use any of the options I have to log in. I've changed my password online for my Microsoft account but it doesn't work. I have an Ethernet cable connected to my PC but it says I don't have an Internet connection. I reset my PC and I pressed f8 and it randomly started the system repair even though my password didn't work. I clicked the drive reset option and chose to keep all my files. That gets to I think 17% and then shows me an error saying that there was a problem with it. I also tried the complete reset of my disk but it took about an 30 minutes to get to 2% and I reset my PC.
Extra info.: I have a 2TB hard drive and I have like 600 GB's left.
I can't login or use my mouse
View 1 RepliesWhile logged in the systems goes back to the login screen. I have checked all of the display and screen saver settings. But after a reboot it still happens after just a few minutes.
View 3 RepliesSo.. I screwed up.. I used a small program called something like Windows 10 Login Background Changer (something along those lines) and when I restarted my computer, it never reached the login screen. I can move the mouse and open Magnifier (was pushing random controls), but I don't know how to get past here.
View 7 RepliesWhen I restarted my laptop and typed in my password, it said that the password was incorrect. But I know it was right. That time I couldn't connect the internet too. I need logging in to my laptop.
View 1 RepliesI tried to install Windows 10 fresh from a usb but it said my Windows 7 key didn't work and I never got a Windows 10 key so I'm not sure what to do, the upgrade install won't login. I enter password, then proceed but it locks up. if I click anywhere after a minute the screen goes black ave nothing happens.
a: where to get the Windows 10 key so I can do a fresh install
or b: how to fix this login screen
I tried safe mode repair but it said it's unable to repair and I should restart the pc.
I updated to windows 10 around a month ago. Recently, the computer has been crashing after I log in. I've had this problem twice before, and the problem was fixed by going into the settings and updating the computer. This time, however, it is not giving me time to update. Once the computer crashes, i can only move my mouse. On previous occasions, I managed to get a video up and it would freeze, then continue to play the last 10 seconds of audio on repeat.
The computer comes up with a script error. It appears to related to microsoft one drive though, and it doesn't show up if i unplug my router. Anyways, here's the link it comes up with: [URL] ....
If I wait long enough, it comes up with the alert that tells you that a program has crashed. Except this one is tell that microsoft windows has crashed. It then asks me if I want to end the process. I can't actually press either button since nothing works, but I thought I might mention it.
my computer has been acting strange as of 2 days ago. I was initially just browsing the net and everything stopped loading. I thought my internet went out and I shut down my computer thinking nothing of it. I tried starting it up again later that day but it would freeze a few seconds after I log in.
The strange this is, it works for about 5-10 s then my pointer changes to that spinning blue wheel and everything becomes unresponsive. I can't click anything or use my keyboard, but I can still move the pointer. Here are some of the things I've tried:
Restart in safe mode (same type of crashing occurs, can move mouse but can't do anything else)Restart in safe mode with command prompt to run sfc /scannow. (initial attempt froze at 100%, hard rebooted and tried again but now it freezes at the file verification stage)"Reset this PC", ( froze at 8%)
I have multiple users on my laptop running Windows 10 Pro and when I boot it up the first screen shows me a list of those users in the lower left corner, in addition, when I am logged in I can select the start button and at the top click on my name and see a list of users allowing me to log out and log someone else in.
On my desktop running Windows s10 Pro (same versions) these are not showing either at startup or after logging in. Both devices have the same three users and both devices user settings seem to be the same.
How to get the desktop to list the users on the first screen and how to get them listed once someone is logged in? I want the laptop and the desktop to display the same information.
With one small decision, Microsoft has made me decide to revert back to 7.
What is that decision? The decision, a staggeringly incompetent one, is to automatically login the previous user on a multi-user system that has no passwords.
Yes - with W10, if you have multiple users with no passwords set, the previous user is automatically logged in at startup.
Who could possibly think that behaviour is ever desirable? It's an absolute howler.
My family and I all use the same computer. We've never needed or wanted passwords - we just want our own desktops, shortcuts etc.
It seems the only way to prevent an automatic login is to make everybody have, and enter, a password. There's no way around that, apparently. Until then, I'm reverting to W7.
I have just upgraded from build 9926 to build 10041 and now I have s major problem with the login screen. It won't respond and no matter what I do with my mouse or keyboard it respond. The clock still changes however which us kinda strange. Here is a pic
View 9 RepliesMy laptop is not recognizing my password. I have gone to Microsoft website several times and changed but laptop still not recognizing it. Only one user on my laptop...purchased year ago and went from 8 and recently uploaded 10. Month ago forgot password and went to account.live.com /password/ reset and had no problems resetting and logging on.
View 2 RepliesI've been using Windows 10 set up exactly as I wanted it since my original installation. Today I wanted to set up Cortana. It was suggested that I use a PIN instead of a password. I thought this was just for Cortana so I agreed. Now my whole system has been changed. I have to log in with my Microsoft account which I never had to do and don't want to do. How can I get back to my original name with no long-in at startup.
View 9 RepliesComputer is in my house. Win 10 forced a login & forced me to create a password on it's 1st update. MY wife uses the computer also & she;s not very computer-savvy. I could require no password on Win 7, why did it do that without asking? How can I remove it.
View 1 RepliesI don't want to have to use a Pin or password to log in every time. How do I overcome this.
View 9 RepliesI installed Windows 10 on my laptop and now it's asking me to enter a password to get in. How can I get rid of this screen so that I can get into my laptop. It's not taking my password
View 1 RepliesMy main user file became corrupted. I created two other users with admin privileges
When I try to log in, the Deleted user still tries to login
Netplwiz does not show the old user in the list.
How do I remove the old user from login?
Just got a new laptop, when it started it up it asked me to create a username and password so I did. I then went into settings and click on sign in to my Microsoft Account so I could access my sons games, etc.
It says it's unable to connect or some error, try again or cancel are my options. Weird part is it doesn't even allow me to enter anything in it just goes right to you can't login.
I'm doing a system reset, if I can't login this time what do I do?
This Dell OptiPlex has be upgraded from Win7Pro since the first week it was available with no problems. It had been running overnight and when I went to login I typed in my password and hit enter the balls started to rotate (about a 1/4 turn) and stopped (froze). I was forced to hold the power switch till the system shutdown. Everything came back up normal but on every attempt to log in, I get a 1/4 turn of the balls and it freezes again. I can see shares from remote computers but can not log in. I cant figure out how to get it in to safe mode or do anything else.how to get back on my system?
