i can understand about not encouraging piracy and that's what i said to him but my friend is worried about windows 10 updates. now he said ,"there is no options for delay or stop windows updates in windows 10 home.and after windows updates system will be force to restart immediately."

View 14 RepliesWindows 10 keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture touchpad driver on my laptop. The driver is garbage and it runs three memory resident processes, which seems rather excessive for a touchpad driver. The default Windows touchpad driver works perfectly well, so I want to use that instead of the ASUS driver. However, if I uninstall the ASUS driver Windows Update quickly reinstalls it.
I disabled automatic driver installation when I installed Windows 10, as you can see here:
Despite that Windows update keeps installing the ASUS Smart Gesture driver.
how I can make it stop?
Windows 10 Pro and I am having an issue with my Touchpad driver, it seems to want to mess up and not move to where I need it to go, so I uninstalled it from the Programs and Features menu, but my issue is it keeps popping back up in Windows Update and installing on its own, I don't want the driver for it as it doesn't function correctly with it installed it works great when its not installed so how can I hide it

I am usually the key presenter at important board meetings and customer meetings. I have a big/heavy notebook at work which I use 90% of the time, but when I hit the road I'm using my sleek/light Windows 10 MacBook. Issue is, when I arrive at my destination and am shown to the presentation room, I boot up Windows 10, launch the Powerpoint file from Dropbox, and -boom-, within 5 minutes I'm speaking in front of a large group.
I am concerned that at my next presentation, I'll whip out my thin/light notebook and as I start presenting I'll see some message about Windows 10 updating -or- Windows 10 needing a reboot to install updates.
Does Windows 10 know enough not to interrupt a full-screen Powerpoint presentation? Is there a mode to disable automatic updates? Or with its new update protocol I am at risk of an embarrassing update moment at my next series of live presentations?

View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10 Home Edition, like millions of others. Like millions of others, I prefer to hibernate my computer rather than shut it down outright most nights. And like millions of others, I am getting awakened IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT because Windows 10 is trying to notify me about updates! Repeatedly.
When I want information about updates, I'll ask. I've turned off the Update Service on the Services tab of the Task Manager. After some hours or some days, it turns itself back on. A cat-and-mouse game with Microsoft. I have stopped the automatic updates themselves but I can't stop the stop the aggressive notifications. Should I be happy? At least the computer is no longer shutting down without warning IN THE MIDDLE OF A PROJECT THAT I'M WORKING ON to update. But it stills turns on at various hours of the night, cooking with its lid closed, to provide me unbidden notifications of updates.
I need to stop this NOW, otherwise Microsoft can shove Windows 10 where the sun don't shine. I own this computer, not Microsoft. Can it be done? Or do I go back to Linux?
I do not install Microsoft Office 2010, but these 2 updates appear in the Update History,

This is Windows 10 SL upgraded from Windows 8.1.At home I'm using 3G modem attached to wireless. This IS metered connection - notice the 3G part. At work I'm using dedicated connection from ISP so no need to worry.

The next day Win10 reported an update for TomTom was ready to download and install.
There does not appear to be any way to stop this happening.

1)Check your Windows Update (if it's updating or not)
2)Now Open Task Manager & Go to Processes n find Windows Process named "Service Host: Local System"
3)Expand it by clicking on ">" symbol &Search for Windows Update
4)Right Click on that and Select Open Services.
5)Now you will see a list of Windows Services. Here find a Service named "Windows Update" (Drag Down to Last)
6)Right click on that and go to "Properties"
7)In "Startup Type:" Drop Down Option , Select "Disable" & Apply It.
8)Finally, in "Service Status:" Click on Stop.

I have Windows 10 installed on my laptop with MS Office 2013. I want the latest preview build installed first. But it's listed at more than 20th position. How to stop these unwanted Office updates. In previous versions of Windows it was very simple to do that by hiding them. But how do I do that in Windows 10 build 10240 RTM?
View 7 RepliesThat's just it. This update is bugged and gives me an awful display experience. I installed windows several times to track it down, and I finally did. Now I need a way to not install it. And uninstalling it after it gets installed is not a solution. If it starts bugging my display it'll stay bugged after the install too.
So, how do I stop this update from installing ?
My computer is a Toshiba 64-bit laptop.
I had a job running last night, downloading stuff from the internet. I knew would take approximately 30 hours to run. It ran most of yesterday and I had hopes I would wake up this morning and it would be finished.
Windows 10, in its infinite wisdom, installed updates and restarted my computer during the night. My job was ended and I had to restart it this morning. I can't run anything else that accesses the internet while this is running because it slows this job down too much. So now I have another day or more of not being able to do anything else on the internet.
How can I stop the updating and restarting of my computer? It is my computer, I should have control over that.
Not sure if it's just me, but for some reason, since the Jan 12 patch Tuesday, I no longer see definition updates for Windows Defender on Windows Update's "View your update history" page.

I have installed win10 on to my Brothers PC and kept getting the message `Inaccessible Boot Device` and was caught in a loop. I then downloaded the iso file on to a disc and re-installed successfully from there. However when we switch on the PC I get a screen which shows two boxes, One reads Win10 and the other Windows. When I click on Win10 the OS loads. How do I remove the other box?. I have installed Win10 on two other PC`s and have not seen this screen before.
View 3 RepliesUsing Win 10 Pro 64-bit. Under Windows Update advanced options --> Choose how updates are installed, the options drop down box is greyed out. I've tried all three (enable, disable, not configured) local group policy options for windows updates (with reboot each time) but the option I mentioned above stays grayed out. I'd like to know how it can be un-greyed out. It also says "some settings are managed by your organization" in red font under the wind update advanced options.

There is currently 10.6GB of free space on the system partition.
I have just (on Friday 20 Feb 2016) installed the Windows 10 upgrade from the MS site.
Took 6/7 attempts to finally get it done.
HDMI driver not working
Audio not working properly (keeps saying USB Audio playback default) I don't have anything plugged in. I have a realtek HD Audio installed.
Wifi is very flaky.....keeps disconnecting or reporting limited connection intermittently......15/20 times a day.
Running virgin Superhub, with 150mb pipe,
everything was working perfectly prior to the Upgrade from windows 7 sp1 to Windows 10.
I cleaned installed Win10 Pro using the Media Creation Tool and how come I only got 3 updates? I am assuming I would get more updates than these.
Running version 1511 build 10586
Is it because Win10 is too new ???
And I kept pressing the Check for Updates button and it said no more new updates.
