I have a two year old HP laptop that came with Windows 8 when I had bought it. It has been updated to Windows 8.1 and it has all the necessary updates it needs, yet the Windows notification has not shown up on my bottom right tool bar.

View 1 RepliesI have some HDDs connected through SATA in my PC and in one of them, I stored my files. Included that path in Indexing service, Windows can't show me the file I search.
Instead, if I search a file or a folder stored in my DropBox folder for example, (under C:usersEmanueleDropbox) the windows search show it immediately.
Some example.
If i want to search a file or folder stored in D:, windows search not show any file....
If i search a folder in indexed in C: all works fine.
I tried to rebuild index too many times.
I was trying to move files from my SSD (C:) to my HDD (D:). I unwittingly moved the location of the desktop file to D:, and now I can't separate the two, and all of my HDD files are shown on my desktop. How do I separate the two, and get the desktop file within D:, not as the D:. Is it even possible?
View 2 RepliesWhen ever I turn on my pc it shows this home screen, and if I access desktop by searching it a folder opens which contain desktop icon and even by pressing windows logo button it doesn't change to desktop but remains at that home screen. I am using different thing by Tab+Alt buttons.
Also you can see the task bar it has a strange view that was never before and see the bottom right corner it is strange! also by clicking the extreme bottom right corner I didn't reach the desktop. (Not even by pressing Windows logo+D button).
my Windows 10, which is after two or three days of my computer is running, when I right click on any taskbar shortcut, the list appears all black, like this (if I reboot, the problem goes away for a while, plese note the right click works perfectly on any other icon other than the taskbar):

I deleted some contact on my phone in the people app.
It synced perfectly with the website because when I go to people.live.com, the contacts there are the same as my phone.
However, when I open the People app on my SP4, I am still seeing the old contacts. I have gone into settings and manually hit sync but nothing happens.
People app is as up to date as can be.
When I try to search for specific applications that are installed (and visible) in the Start menu, Cortana (or Search) doesn't find anything. Just web results and settings are shown.
Any way to clear the Cache or reset the search indexing so that everything will be searchable again? Windows 10
Windows is only showing a black screen after boot no login screen only my mouse, but the mouse isn't working only an external one works. The keyboard isn't working too.
View 2 RepliesHow to remove shortcut arrows on Windows 10 desktops. I was able to hide the arrows. However, I got two updates. I installed them & restarted the system. After restarting I got these.
I ignored & finished my work & I saw that everything was normal. Sometime after explorer restarted and those black squares re-appeared! I've waited again but this time they didn't disappear.
It says "downloading windows 10"and i get the icon scrolling but then it just takes me to the windows update screen that shows me my current updates are up to date. I've tried this over a dozen times now, even going as far as disabling my windows firewall and ms essentials....still nothing. I've installed the updates that were optional as well as the required ones but it still will not launch. Downloaded the windows 10 update.exe from microsoft directly and it does the same thing as the one in the taskbar. What else should I do? Maybe it's a sign I just keep 7 (ultimate btw) for a much longer time.

We can enable the following 3 options to disable web search:
Do not allow web search
Don’t search the web or display web results in Search
Don’t search the web or display web results in Search over
However, as usual I'm looking for a way to do this via registry.
I have a problem with my iPhone 5s/iOS 9.2.1 in Windows 10 Pro x64 Build 10586.71, as shown in the pictures:
Although everything works OK, i.e.
-iTunes v.12.3.2.35 recognizes it, backs it up and syncs it
-I can see its content from Windows Explorer
-and in Device Manager has the latest drivers for both Apple iPhone & Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
The iPhone is shown in "Devices and Printers" under Unspecified Devices.
There is an icon in my tray to "Safely remove hardware and eject media". It is always there (even when no USB devices are plugged in) because Windows thinks my second internal SSD is removable.Is there a config setting or a registry edit to fix that?

And to be honest, I liked it more than Windows 7.Windows 7 used to have this menu option for me,I was able to see the full capacity of my network location's root hard disk. However, in Windows 10, it has such an appearance. And I couldn't find a way to access my Network Path's Space Attributes. How I can make them visible again?

I did the usual things needed for installation and it was ok but it takes too long to boot up. Here is a video of what am I speaking. When I try to place my recycle bin on the bottom row it just moves one row up. I didn't had this issue before.
I did a system restore and it was on the bottom row for a couple of seconds and suddenly it moved up.
I can place it on the bottom row if I change the text size to 100%, but that's too small. Is there any other way?
I upgraded my monitor recently to a Dell 4k display. The issue/niggle I have is that the task bar at 4k resolution and relevant scaling within the Display properties is only showing on 50% on the bottom of the screen which is annoying...

One day I fired up my laptop and noticed that some of my icons that I had at the bottom of the screen moved up. Tried to move them back and they went right back to the next row above. Did some searching and found suggestion moving the text size smaller and that worked, but now all of my icons are tiny.

Thought it was a driver problem but one was installed checked with Toshiba support site but no drivers for 10 showing only the one on my laptop. Spoke to Toshiba who tell me that this is all down to microsoft as they understand as microsoft were doing all of this automatically they had undertake to update all the drivers in the new installation???
Trying to contact microsoft seems to be impossible as they want an activation code but when I said I do not have one for Win 10. Was then told they would transfer me tech support and the inevitable disconnection occured. This after some 20 minutes waiting on the phone.
Okay, last night I was playing fine on my built PC with windows 10, everything worked and nothing was wrong. But when I started it this moring it was greated by an unusually long lasting black screen on startup and was only able to see my mouse. That's problem #1. Now I bypassed this by hitting space bar and entering my password to log into my computer..After logging in I see that all of my icons on my desktop are gone. I tried to open chrome from my taskbar and the taskbar shows that its open but noting appears on my screen when I try to acess it. This is the same with all of my apps.
I also can't see any of the icons on the bottom right hand of my desktop either .(such as the wifi signal and the volume mixer) I can hit my windows button and can navigate a menu that's is contained in that box. But can't open anything. I've tryed restarting, ctrl alt del only brings me to another black screen.This is my full build. I have had no problems with the computer before today.
