View 1 RepliesCan Virtual Desktops be saved from session to session?
Can I recall today's Virtual Desktops with all their windows, documents, and open applications when I restart the computer tomorrow? Can the session and the Desktops be saved before shutting down the computer?
I've disabled the screensaver and the auto sleep mode yet when I don't touch my computer for a few minutes it'll go into lock screen and ask me for my code to log back in. I've even set the "Don't show lockscreen" entry to active (in the sort of registry).
How can I get rid of this feature ? I don't want anything to show up when I leave my computer for a few minutes, I want nothing to move.
Dual booting Linux and Windows 10. Can the Windows update and auto-reboot interfere while I'm running a Linux session on the same computer?
View 1 RepliesThis issue started yesterday. Just downloaded W/10 3-4 weeks ago. When I open an email, say with an attachment or an Ad from a supplier, a box appears in red with letters and "code" type numbers/info saying session timed out
Did not have issue with 8.1 or previous W/7 Home Premium.
Time to time happens that my whole windows( and everything else that could) slows down and any kind of tasks are very painful to complete. Even writing becomes very laggy.
Usually I'm in the middle of gaming and have a lot of apps opened.I try finishing what's unfinished and close everything(usually at this step I restart my computer). By checking task manager I can see memory used at 99%. Last time I was curios how slow can everything finally turn(since it slowed even more down with time) and after about 15 mins cpu usage hopped to 100%. Then both my screens turned black(only mouse cursor didn't disappear) and I had to hard shut down my computer by the physical button. So far the only solution to this has been restarting the computer.

Getting weird problem with Windows 10 Pro. So few days ago when i ran memtest few hours without error, but after finished test i reboot pc and Automatiic repair started before windows. Is this something with memory ? Memory trigger that error? Or it is software issue? Coincidence ?
When starting Windows 10 boot loader starts by "preparing automatic repair" and diagnosing pc. Interesting is that if I restart Windows (after procedure mentioned earlier) it will boot normally. This startup problem occurs only when starting system again after shutdown.
My disk is Samsung Evo 250 GB SSD. I run HD TUNE but no errors and CrystalDiskInfo Smart is fine 100% GOOD. Rams are 2x8gb DDR3 Kingston Hyperx 1600mhhz.
Memtest86 not showing errors. So its a hardware related or not?
I have a Surface 3 Pro with 2 external monitors hooked up using StarTech USB VGA adapters. Since the update, my mouse does not show up on my remote Windows Server 2008 R2 VM's when the Remote Desktop window is on one of the external monitors (works on the Surface Screen). The cursor is there, just cannot see it.
View 2 RepliesI keep turning off Input Indicator but at restart/boot its back (turns its self back on) is this a glitch in Windows 10.
View 1 Repliesrecently upgraded to win10 and that went well.. However on the last update (I think) that went bad. My pc now looses all apps when turned off. When restarted, I have to reload windows live mail and re-enter my email account. All my contacts seem to have been lost as is my email history.I use google as my web browser and I have to re-enter all my settings here also.
When turned on, my pc loads quickly but after logging on, it goes to "preparing windows" which takes some time before it is usable.
updates installed around the time of problem are;
kb3081448
kb3081449
kb3081452
kb3081444
..this is the update after which I think the problem started

I lost my windows 10 for PC. My PC resets and never go on again, it just gave me options to reinstall or recovery. Now I have Windows 8.1 again and cant find the Windows Insiders App to get back to Windows 10 Insiders preview.
View 1 RepliesI want to keep my custom color calibration because the default is too dark and too red on my screen, but each time I turn off or restart my pc, it resets to default. I've gone on many google quests to figure it out, I even went to Geek Squad. So far, the only thing that "fixes" my problem is re-calibrating each time I start the laptop, which is very frustrating, and it isn't a real fix.
I found something, after going to:
Settings>Display>Advanced Display Settings>Display Adapter Settings>Color Management>Advanced
There is a checkbox which is greyed out, so I cannot uncheck it, which says "Use Windows Display Calibration" which I would like to uncheck and see if that fixes my problem. But, I can't uncheck it because it is greyed out.

I am usually pretty self sufficient when it comes to building/troubleshooting computers, but i am at a complete loss on this one.
So, I rebuilt a PC for a friend with a bunch of new parts and it started crashing about a week after he took it home (specs below). At first it was crashing ALL the time...playing games, watching twitch, anything. It would just randomly do a hard reset and restart normally without any sort of error codes, pop-ups, or even a bsod. I really mean random too, i desperately tried finding some consistency to the problem, but no luck on that.
Long story short, i have tested and swapped just about every part in this computer (except for the dvd drive). I have ran Memtest overnight on several occasions with no errors. I have checked and rechecked all bios settings and nothing is overclocked, memory timings are all dialed in correctly. Temperatures have not surpassed 55C on the CPU, and 70C is the max on the GPU. I have done a completely fresh reinstall of Windows 10 Pro 64-bit, and installed several different versions of drivers (and yes i cleaned out the old files after each uninstall). I unchecked that little box that auto restarts on system failure.
All of this, among other things i can't quite remember at the moment, have only slowed down the crashing to a minimum. After installing a new ssd and installing slightly older drivers, it seems to have cut down the crashing quite a bit. Right now it has reset twice in the past 24 hours, and it has only happened after exiting games, specifically BF4 and Garden Warfare.
I have checked the Event Viewer several times and three things pop out at me.
1) Kernel-Power (event id:41)
2) Whea-Logger (event id:20, AMD Northbridge)
3) bug-check (event id:1001)
It seems like it is trying to tell me there is a fatal error with the CPU...but i have pretty much ruled out every possible hardware issue there could be at this point, including lack of power and bad video cables.
iI want to say it is a driver issue of some sort...but i am running a barebones OS right now with only the essentials running, and i have tried several different driver versions to no avail.
Here's the specs, Debugging files are attached.

I have my tablet set to portrait orientation, but if I log out or reboot it reverts to portrait, even if rotation lock is on. I assume this is because it's an 8" tablet which MS decided are meant to be used in portrait but surely if rotation lock is on then it should respect that setting?

After converting from Windows 7 to 10 the screensaver delay time resets to 1 every time I boot the system. This prevents the screensaver from activating. I set the time and press apply and then works all day until I sign off at night and re-boot (power up) in the morning. I did not have this problem with Windows 7.

Can MS stop this?
Favourites are gone, I have to run xcopy to add back. Google search is no longer the default search provider. It also offers to remember password which I disabled.
I have a Similar problem in which I cannot install the latest windows 10 update I get to 75 percent and then it says it can’t continue and resets.
My computer is a Windows 7 machine upgraded to Windows 10.
I have ran sacs scan and it found corrupt files. Done all the other scans that you have suggested and I did get that source/image is repairable.
Tried all the Command prompts DIM/Online and that would not work either.
Using Microsoft media creation I re download windows 10 Is Mounted it do a dad and pointed the DIM online source to F: it also says that source fills could not be found.
I have even tried to reset Windows 10 but that encounters problems as well
I have even tried to reset windows through ISO and that encounters problems as well.
my Win7 to Win10 upgrade. _While using_ the computer the mouse scroll settings reset to 1. This can happen a couple of times during the day even though the computer never has been in sleep mode etc. Computer is a Lenovo X230 with i5-3320M. It has Synaptics touchpad drivers. I am using a docking station with a USB Logitech mouse.
View 2 RepliesUpgraded my laptop to Windows 10 today, but it didn't ask me about whether or not I wanted to keep anything or not.. it just automatically kept my files.. but I wanted it to wipe everything clean with this install. So I'm on Windows 10 now and I want to do a factory reset, and I've gone to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC.. But clicking the "Get Started" button does absolutely nothing. I've tried doing the Advanced Startup > Troubleshoot > Reset this PC too.. but it doesn't ask me how much I want to keep, or do anything actually, that just goes to a black screen and resets my laptop.
View 2 RepliesPc got free upgrade from 7 ultimate 32bit to 10 pro 32bit successfully. Now I consider to switch it to 64bit.
I tried to run "MediaCreationTool64.exe", but it didn't run on current 32bit environment. Can't I get free switching? Must I purchase 64 bit version in Microsoft Store with payment?
Under the settings menu, I do not get the option to turn Bluetooth on or off. It has been suggested that this is a design feature where desktop PCs do not need a switch while Laptops get one, I don't know if this was the design plan. Any way in my case I am on a Samsung Notebook (which is a Laptop). It has also been suggested that windows 10 looks for the battery to make this decision, if so it may have been that my "Battery Saving" mode on the Samsung that confused the selection process. My battery is currently showing as 80% but not charging.

View 1 RepliesI had windows 8.1 and already upgraded for free to windows 10 home. Now I want to do a clean install of windows 10 with a usb drive and their create media installer program. What I want to know is if I can possibly use the windows 10 home N version? I like the idea of not having the stuff I may not use if I go for 3rd party software for videos and the like. Will it work or will it not let me since I didn't have an "N" version of my windows 8.1?
View 1 RepliesI have Windows 10. Recently I noticed that If I have several applications open and want to switch to another one, it opens BEHIND the existing window. How do I bring whatever application I click to the forefront? I have sought long and hard for the answer, but to no avail.

View 9 RepliesI'm not able to turn on bluetooth on my Compaq 510 laptop. So I thought of uninstalling and re-installing my bluetooth driver, which happened to be Microsoft Bluetooth Device (Personal Area Network) Driver version 10.0.10586.0 ( dated 2006-06-21 ). Now I'm not able to find this driver again. I'm facing with the bluetooth.
