Numlock Works On Startup Doesn't After Sign On To Windows
Dec 31, 2015
HP upgraded from Win7 and Toshiba upgraded from Win8.3 6-10 months ago to Win10.
I've tried to change from Fast Start which fixed only the failure on Toshiba to restart on command which was a good thing. Did nothing for HP.
I've changed the keyboard registry in both computers to the #2 which did nothing. (The HP was already set to 2)
I've gotten the latest patches and upgrades for Win10 on both laptops. Did nothing.
The numlock light comes on and stays on. The on screen icons show either locked or unlocked properly. Only the directional controls continue to work in either locked or unlocked mode.
I've found nothing anywhere that addresses this. Has to be a software issue as computers are different manufacturers and one is 3 years old and other is less than one year old.
It baffles me that it works on startup to put in my PIN and only fails when logged on to Windows 10.

The issue I am currently having is enabling NumLock before the logon, I have modified the corresponding registry key (Find attached my screenshot below) and that works perfectly fine when restarting my PC, however I have fast-startup (Screenshot also below) enabled and if I shutdown my PC and then boot it up again, NumLock is disabled by default. I have made numerous searches and can't seem to find any information in regards to Fast-startup or any registry keys linked to it and I don't particularly want to disable Fast-startup. Just to clarify, NumLock is always enabled before logon when booting up my PC and Fast-startup is disabled, however with Fast-startup enabled, NumLock is only enabled when restarting my computer.

Sometimes the dvd player works and sometimes it doesn't. Is there any particular way to get it to play every time I insert a disk? I just installed Windows 10 over existing 7.

It really sucks how they took out the microphone option. It really bothers me how the headset doesn't respond when the mic actually works. It makes me think it is broken or not working. If there is any other way you can restore that.

I upgraded my Alienware M17 to Windows 10 with no problems (knock on wood), but my girlfriends HP Envy Notebook is having some issues. Right after Windows 10 installed the first time it was fine for a few hours and then it ran an automatic update... After restarting the PC it took, literally, 10 minutes to get to the lock-out screen to sign in. After signing in everything seems to work fine. When I click restart it logs out quickly, shuts down just fine, but after the HP bios loads it goes to the blank Windows 10 screen (with the little loading dots circling) and sits there for 10 minutes before finally changing over to the sign in screen.
When I just "sign out" without restarting it also takes an equally ridiculous amount of time (8-10 minutes). At first I thought maybe I had done something bad with the registry cleaner... lol, so I did a full reset and reinstalled the OS, downloaded and installed all new drivers and everything was just fine (again) until it did an automatic upgrade... then its back to being nearly unusable.
Now, I have heard rumors that Windows 10 startup is ridiculously slow. How SLOW is slow? Like 8-10 minutes? Yes, I have enable fast startup (and hibernation) and it does nothing (yes, I know it does not work with "restart" and only "shut down").I wonder if the problem is when Windows 10 upgrades to version 1511 because it is fine before it does any auto updating. But if it keeps updating there is no point in trying to pinpoint which update it causing this.

Updated to Windows 10 from Windows 8.1 two weeks ago.
Had problems with Firefox. Tried to download to replace existing Firefox. CNET site appeared to be correct but something seemed wrong so I killed the download. But.
- The windows start menu doesn't come up when I click on the icon, but if I right-click, a text menu does appear and lets me, for example, shut down.
.- If I click on the Windows End icon in the task bar, the screen flashes but End does not come up. Ditto for the Windows Store icon.
- Somewhere SpyBot S&D was erased, but I was able to download it.
- If I double-click on a photo in Windows Explorer, I get a popup that lists the name of the jpeg and says Invalid Entry to Registry. If I right click on the photo and go to any of the options the photo is opened except if I choose Photo.
- Firefox cannot properly display the Yahoo mail page, though Pale Moon and Opera can.
- I have Avast Anti-Virus and MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and when I run their scans, they find no issues.

On my ASUS G74SX-3DE Notebook, Windows Camera no longer works after the app update(s) recently.
It would start up with:
Who makes the camera for the device and ASUS doesn't provide Windows 10 drivers except the camera works fine with other apps.
Windows installs a driver with the device listed as:
USB2.0 UVC 1M WebCam
in device manager with driver version 10.0.10240.16384 and the date
USBVID_13D3&PID_5134&MI_00
USBVID_13D3&PID_5134&REV_0725&MI_00

So I'm having trouble with NumLock defaulting on the Logon screen in Windows 10. I have a Dell Inspiron 15R.
I tried the following;
1.On the Logon screen, press the NumLock key on the keyboard to turn it on. On the bottom right corner of the Login screen I clicked the power button to reboot Windows.
2.using Registry tweak, InitialKeyboardIndicators under HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelKeyboard using code(s) 2147483650 then tried 80000002 as well as just 2
Before installing Win10 it worked as desired (I did #2 above using code "2").

I just got a new gpu put into my computer. A few things were changed around in the settings. It boots fine and everything is good. Except my number lock key use to light up during boot and I would just keep hitting delete which is my mobos command to enter bios and it would go in. Now when booting the numberlock key doesn't go on and just pressing delete doesn't work. It just goes straight into my windows login.
My computer works %100 fine and I just need to change 1 thing in the bios but I can't get into the setup. How to get my numberlock on during boot or to get into my bios? I don't even see "hit del to enter bios" at the bottom of the screen anymore. And my numberlock key doesn't even go on during start up until the windows login. I went into my settings and unchecked the fast boot up option in the power settings menu. Nothing has worked yet.

Until yesterday everything was working fine. This night I shutdown my computer and this morning, when I started it up, I noticed the icons of my dekstop in the default location and with the default dimensions.
I repositioned them , I changed icon dimensions again but if I sign out/sign in , restart , shutdown/startup the computer , all my desktop icons go back to default position and default dimension.

My Windows sign in setting is "never" yet when my computer is in sleep mode and I come back to use it has a sign in. I sign in and open settings and view the sign in setting and it is still "never". How can the system directly go against a system setting? Is there a correction for a situation where the setting is correct but the behavior of the system is wrong?

I chose to log in use the PIN option. I like typing with the num pad.
At the log on screen Num Lock was always off.
1. Checked the BIOS settings:
Ensured that the NumLock status in the BIOS was set to enabled
2. Modified the registry a few times
Key: HKEY_USERS.DEFAULTControl PanelKeyboard
I set the String Value: InitialKeyboardIndicators
to 2
then I tried 80000002
then I tried 2147483650
So I have partial success, where NumLock is enabled after a restart, but it is not enabled after a cold-boot.

When I download the Games for windows live it says that the sign in assistant gets downloaded and installed but when I open Games for windows it gives me an error and says that I have to install the sign in assistant.
I then downloaded it from the Microsoft site but the installer starts and then just quits as soon as it opens.

I downloaded windows 10 from Microsoft windows website and I installed it but I thought of reverting back to windows 7 and so I did. The windows 7 boot up logo showed up but got stuck in between the boot logo. then the windows startup fixing program would be recommended for me and I did it but failed to fix the boot up error. and i cant even start windows from the safe mode as well. So what do i do to bring back windows 7 back up. and which one windows is good 7 or 8 or 8.1 and sure that i wouldn't wanna go back to 10. so how do i start up windows again?? Yeah i guess i will have to make a bootable USB or DVD drive. I would like to go for usb but not sure how to create one bootable usb drive.

I had installed Windows 10 for over a week now. The issue of windows not sleeping after sleeping once after startup from a shutdown has been going on for a couple of days.
I've been through many of the power options that deal with what devices wake up the computer, and I have turned them all off at one point which did not work, Windows 10 still refused to sleep properly after sleeping once.
I've went to power options and made sure that the sleep button makes the computer sleep, but it still refuses to sleep after it slept once. I'm really unsure where to solve this, and I don't think this issue has been addressed with Windows 10 yet. Perhaps this is a bug?

I now have issues with Windows 10 starting up. I've tried using the win 7 disc to do a repair but it's hard to tell if it's done anything. All I have right now is a mouse cursor and a black screen and because it was win 10 I have no disc for it. Just older versions on my flash drive but I can't seem to access it.

i got my new Benq 2411z and its really nice, configured everything. But my problem is the following:
The monitor does not show the windows startup anymore, so i cannot see windows loading and cant access bios menu at start.
Somehow in device manager there is a non-pnp monitor listed which is listed as standard, if i uninstall or deactivate it, it does not affect my problem and its back after restart.
Furthermore i cant disconnect this non existing monitor via windows control panel.
I need to set the benq monitor (shown as monitor 2) as main monitor in windows 10 settings, but it does not change anything about my problem with the start up.
When i start the computer the displays says: "no device found"
When the computer booted and is finally on desktop it says: "input: dvi" and the desktop shows
Moreover my CCleaner says i have "microsoft basic display driver", but i have got a gtx980..

This started a few days ago and is reconfiguring most installed programs every startup. Is this necessary since it consumes resources and delays full usage. If not necessary, how to I put a stop to this? I have a newer Dell desktop running Windows 10.
