View 6 RepliesMigrated OS 8.1 from HDD to SSD . Migration software installed command line in bios "Boot Manager on Disk 1". If I do a format of SSD will bios revert to original without the reference to disk 1. I intend on doing a clean install of Windows 10 retail version in UEFI mode....
View 2 RepliesWindows keeps putting my Canon printer in device manager under the disk drive. Also puts the printer under printers which is correct. Everytime I uninstall it from under the disk drive location.
It puts it back after a reboot. Also get dump files error on usb port, which the printer uses. Printer works fine, but it should not be put under the disk drive in device manager. only way to stop it, is to turn printer off, before I reboot.
I have removed all my accounts using "netplwiz" option. Now my user name stayes on when I turn on my computer but no password is correct. I can't log in on my computer. I changed my password on live.com but eaven that doesn't work.
View 1 RepliesThe brightness in my pc cannot be changed so i searched the internet until i found a solution and when i did the instructions i found out that Sleep mode has been removed from my PC.
View 1 RepliesWindows 10 notification indicted that CPU ID and CPU Z were removed during the upgrade. However when I click on their short cut icons on my desktop , both of the programs seem to work . I can't find the programs in Windows explorer . They are also not listed in any of the uninstallers. So I am puzzled whether the programs are actually still in the system and working . I have not looked into the registry yet. Are these programs supported by windows 10 ?

View 5 RepliesI find that the oldest restore points regularly disappear even though I have system recovery on and more than adequate disc space allocated.
View 9 RepliesDownloaded Windows 10. I cant find any of my old files? The update appears to have removed all my files!
View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows and to my horror after it was Downloaded all my data disappear. Been working on a family book all previous version that I referred to gone. All my photos gone.
My only consolation I had backed up a version of my book on a sub key. Photos though gone. People do not upgrade. How could they play with people like that.
Are these built in to Windows 10? Can they be removed and/or disabled? Does Windows 10 have "stealth" or force updating? And (I have trouble interpreting EULA agreements) does any part of Windows 10 do data collection? (I strongly oppose ANY data mining)
I just built a new PC and need an OS. I use Windows 7 presently on my old pc and am happy Windows 7. I don't care for Win 8.1 and Windows 7 retail is difficult to find. So Windows 10 was my next option unless any of the mentioned concerns have "yes" attached to them.
Still trying to figure out what it is that keeps waking up my computer from sleep.
I looked in the event logs and found this:
The system has returned from a low power state.
Sleep Time: 2015-08-30T03:12:34.409741300Z
Wake Time: 2015-08-30T03:30:51.010471500Z
Wake Source: Timer - Windows will execute 'NT TASKMicrosoftWindowsMedia Centermcupdate_scheduled' scheduled task that requested waking the computer.
What I don't understand is why is mcupdate waking the computer if Media Center was removed from Windows 10.
But more importantly how do I stop this from happening?
I was having some problems with Windows Store
First of all
I got error 0x800072efe
Looked all over the Internet. Finally fixed it.
Then started getting error 0x80070005. And no matter what it couldn't be fixed. So I decided to uninstall Store using 10AppsManager and I also deleted all Microsoft.WindowsStore packagefamily folders.
I tried every solution available on Internet but none worked. This was one of them Restore and reinstall Windows Store in Windows 10 after removing with PowerShell.
I don't want to do a system rest as it'll result in losing all my programs I had installed since Windows 8. Never did a reset.
I've had my new HP Windows 10 for 2 months. Without asking, it was just updated, and took a couple of hours. When it was completed, all my taskbar icons were removed, I can't access the start button, can't open up "ask me anything" button, and probably other things. What to do?
View 1 RepliesEvery iteration of Windows 10, I'm hoping that this issue gets resolved, but these (in the pic) apps are constantly around, do not function, and can't be removed. What exactly is going on? Why are they still there? Is there a fix?
View 5 RepliesJust yesterday windows 10 mobile insider fast ring has linked mailboxes, updated last night 11/19/15 and now option is no more?
View 2 RepliesRecently I have removed all metro or preinstalled applications on windows 10 with a powershell command. It removed all the extra software I needed but, I realized windows store and calculator are missing. I've search up many solutions on the web but, none have workped. Now, i want to know how I can get them back.
View 1 Repliesi have my ASUS X555LD for almost a year now, so as far as date is concerned my laptop shouldn't be too old to suffer such illness. So it came with Win8.1 x64 of course and just recently, as soon as Windows 10 was released, i upgraded quickly.
but right after i upgraded to Windows 10, my laptop became ill and had this errors:
1. i got BSoD Most of the Time, one would say CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED or UNEXPECTED_STORE_EXCEPTION. there are times my laptop would freeze in the BSoD, not even the 0% would move to 100%. so i had no other choice but to force shutdown it, and sometimes after turning my laptop on again i end up at my BIOS with no HDD nor BOOT ENTRY listed. as i experimented, i had to press slightly hard on the right side of my Laptop where my HDD is Located just for my Laptop to re-read my HDD once again, as soon as i got back to Windows 10, i ran an HDD Check and nothing was wrong, no bad sectors or anything. this is confusing me as to how it is happening. so i somehow got used to BSoD since my Laptop frequently experience it. sometimes just a simple movement that would shake my laptop would turn into BSoD again, i suspect something like my HDD or loose or the likes. i dont really know.
2. after the BSoD Case, a week or three i guess. i started to loose Audio Ability. it was just this morning, the Volume Icon has a "RED X" on its icon and states "No Audio Output Device is installed.". and after checking my Device Manager, to my surprise the Built-in Audio Device (Realtek) is not there. i don't know how or why it happened but i can't get it back.
even checking the sound tab on the control panel doesn't bring out Audio Devices.
i was wondering if ASUS or the PC Store where i bought my Laptop would fix it for me as per warranty is involved ?
in windows 10 when I trying to safely eject the USB it says that the USB device is already in use (which is not )and if I'm removing it forcely the pc freeze and I'm getting the bsod with the error: inaccessible boot device and then my pc turning off I tried to format but it still happing I had no choice to go back to win 8.1 and there everything good (also it happing with some USB devices but some are working to but still .
View 1 RepliesI recently put my camera memory card into my computer to download photos. I couldn't open them and need to leave so hit "remove device" figuring that I'd go back later when I had more time to get them. When I went back and reinserted the card it didn't show up. I've tried to "add a device" but it still doesn't work. When I hit the device and printers icon it doesn't show up. What do I do?
View 4 RepliesI have a configuration where win 10 is installed on SSD but the Users folder is on a dynamic disk on HDD and the linking is made by a hard junction link from C: to D. I have removed paging on D as well as protection. Hence, I am able to remove all volumes of the dynamic disk and convert it back to a basic disk and format it.The problem is that I would like to keep all my installed programs (and settings, preferably). I have copied the Users directory to an external disk and copied them back to D after conversion. This seems to lead to a nonfunctional situation where I cannot even add a new user and most programs (even not all windows tools) do not work. What would be the best approach to avoid reinstalling the programs and to keep existing users?
View 2 RepliesRunning windows 10, due to some personal reasons want to change my dynamic disk to a basic disk... But the option for the same is greyed out in Disk Management.
View 5 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10; not much problems for me, except one that I really wish I new that before upgrading.
Let me just say this; the Windows 10 app on my pc (running Win7 Ultimate) did not say anything about this issue, that's why I upgraded.
Under my windows 7 I had 2 Realtek RTL8168D PCI-E Gigabit Nic; which I had setup for teaming with the Realtek Teaming Utility; after the upgrade I found out that utility was not compatible with Windows 10, which sucks.
My real problem is under the Device Manager I only see one (1) Nic listed.... is this normal for Windows 10?
Also, how to setup a NIC Team without using the Realtek utility?
I connected an audio cable to my laptop but when windows asked what the cable was i accidentally checked the box that said microphone. Now i can't change it anymore and my audio device is in the recording tab instead of the playback tab. How do i change this?
View 1 RepliesSo, after about 2 weeks of experiencing Windows 10 I've decided to revert back to Windows 8.1, since I was more experienced at it. So I followed every step to downgrade the system, waited for about a few hours, then I noticed that when Windows restarted, it somehow went to an "automatic repair" loop. I've tried literally everything there was so I can get it running again, but nothing seems to work. But, there was only one option, in which I feel like an idiot to try out.
I went to Command Prompt and typed in diskpart.exe, then enter. I then typed in LIST DISK, then SELECT DISK SYSTEM, and finally CLEAN. Since I thought at the time that CLEAN works like resetting the PC, I rebooted it again, and I came to an error message saying: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed. Is, or will there be any other way to start my PC in a condition like this? If I'm missing any other details then feel free to ask.
Every time I boot up my pc I get a black screen with 2 lines of text "disk i/o error, replace the disk and then press any key". After I press any key pc boots up fine. Lenovo pc with Windows 10.
