Whenever I run a Windows 10 specific app, such as Edge, Store, Weather, etc, It opens properly, but the icon on the taskbar is simply a square with a line under it if it is active and only the line shows when it is inactive. If I pin a Windows 10 app to the taskbar, there is no icon at all. All other programs have the proper icon in the taskbar. Is there a way to get the Windows app icons to show in the taskbar?
When my computer wakes from sleep mode an annoying black icon which looks like a "sleeping eye" with a line through it appears at the bottom of my screen. How do I get rid of it???
I have this constant loading going on somewhere in my computer. it interferes with my games or if I put anything to full screen it automatically pulls it out of full screen and minimizes it. It also interferes with my typing. If I'm trying to type in an address to go to a website the flashing loading will make it so I have to keep clicking in the address bar to finish typing out the address. auto saved usernames are also an issue. where I'll type the first three letters of my username. It will pull up then immediately disappear. I have to be really fast to click it or result to the constant clicking of the username bar to put my username in.
Also an issue with right clicking anything. the right click "open, delete, new folder, etc" will come up and before I can move to click what I want it disappears. I restarted my computer and it went away once. I thought the issue was resolved and paid no attention to it. I then turned my computer off and back on after a virus scan and the problem persists again. I tried turning the computer off and on again but again the problem continues. how I can find whats constantly loading/causing the flashing loading icon next to my mouse?
I am currently running Windows 8.1 and the Windows 10 icon is missing. I have tried everything that I have seen online to try get it to appear. I am up to date with everything on windows and all the requirements are met. Is there anything else I can try to get it back. Or has the free upgrade expired?
Yesterday my sound icon disappeared from my notification center. I have searched the internet for a solution and the ones I have found have not worked. In the enable windows icons page, the switch for the sound icon is grayed out. I cant change my volume...
I cannot see the GWX notification icon. I have a genuine copy of windows 7 running in my laptop and installed all the latest updates including KB3035583. It's been more than a week, still there is no sign of GWX icon.
As stated in title - no battery icon when not plugged in - and no battery/power icon when plugged in - also no locations icon. I do not care much about the locations one, but the battery one is pretty much vital.
Going into "Turn system icons on / off" - both Power & Location are greyed out - and can not be activated.
I have tried all the regular Windows 7 / 8 fixes - but no luck. I DO have a battery icon in the logon screen - but that is it. I have had this issue since I first downloaded the first preview builds.
This is my machine stats according to System info ....
Every time I start up my computer, the attached icon appears in the notification tray. If I click on it, it opens up My Computer and the icon disappears. If I don't click on it, then my taskbar will not auto-hide as I want it to. The icon does not appear in the hidden notification icons or n the 'startup' tab of Task Manager, so I can't remove it. How to permenently remove it so it doesn't appear on startup?
With no changes to my computer, the network icon has vanished from the notification area. ...When in settings, notification/quick actions, I am unable to turn on the Network Icon (the option is greyed out)?
I remember the feature on Windows 7 where you could choose "Hide icon and notifications" which would, well, hide both the icons and notifications.I know you can easily hide the icon for non-Modern/Metro programs by just dragging it to the area inside the ^ icon. I've done that for Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, but yet if it blocks something I still get a nagging notification saying it did so.
For the time being, I've just turned notifications off inside of MBAM as it gives that option... but not every program lets you do that. A lot just force the notifications on you. When I look in Settings, it says "no apps have requested notifications yet" because I assume that only applies to Metro/Modern apps. Other programs sort-of have their own way of doing it.
Or WILL they for sure show up in Settings if they use the "normal" Windows notification method? MBAM does its notifications differently from most, but I remember that in Windows 7 I COULD get rid of them just by choosing "hide icon and notifications" from the Windows options.
is it possible to get rid of the input method icon which is located in the notification area which shows the language abbreviation? Something like this: [URL]
Why there are two languages, hence the icon, if in control panel there is only one? I don't need changing language nor switching input method so I would like to remove that icon.
Recently i upgrade my laptop to windows 10, and also update my graphic drivers, but now the battery icon in notification area is not visible and i can't change the brightness of my screen too. it seems that the graphic driver installed correctly.
My mic is so quiet on steam and skype, starting from a couple of days ago, up until then my mic was perfect. I have checked many forms and youtube videos with no success.
Windows in general and I know that Win 10 has many of the things win 8 and 7 had so here goes. It might be worth mentioning that I have win 10, pro, fully updated and patched.
1. How do I disable the password screen when windows boots ? It's very annoying. I tried the netplwiz thing and didn't work. When I did that, another account would appear in the login list called other.
2. My laptop's speakers (lifebook 1780) are muffled and quiet to about 50% of the volume they should have. All volume is turned up, drivers are updated, all sound and device settings are calibrated and set accordingly to the highest quality. Should I try rolling back the driver ? It worked for some I think. It's worth mentioning that if I reduce the quality of the sound to less 41hz or whatever, the speakers increase slightly in volume.
I am having audio problems that I have been unable to resolve. My pc specs and problem below. So since I upgraded to Windows 10 one of the biggest things that annoys me is when I plug in headphones they are not picked up by my pc and I have to manually switch to them as default audio using the Playback devices menu. On Windows 7 I had a Audio Control panel that popped up and detected the headphones.
I am also having issues with the volume sounding low throughout and terrible call quality on skype not sure if this is a separate issue, I have tried manually updating, removing & reinstalling the audio drivers from the device manager and also tried downloading the realtek windows 10 drivers. None of these have seemed to work, I have tried software that detects out of date drivers to no avail and also made sure other components on my pc are updated incase this somehow worked.

I just (Dec. 19, 2015) completed the latest update to Windows 10, had trouble with my volume icon, fixed it, then found my wifi icon is stuck in airplane mode despite the laptop having full wifi functionality. Tried turning system icons on and off through the "task bar and start menu properties" dialog box, tried various combinations of "on" and "off" while restarting the entire system, nothing works. I've connected and reconnected wirelessly by both using a physical button (shaped like an antenna emitting parentheses-shaped waves) and by using the icon that's now stuck in airplane mode. I can access the internet, but I can't see the status in the task bar as I used to. All I see is the icon shaped like an airplane, even while I'm clearly not in airplane mode and when I should therefore be seeing the wifi icon.
I want to upgrade my Windows 7 to Windows 10 but I make use of VPN service and from time to time the connection do have drops and Windows 7 supports the re-connect option but I cannot find any info on Windows 10. This will decide it for me if I will go to 10 or not.
I know this has to do with virtual desktops... but it's super obnoxious. Is there a way to get rid of it? I don't really need or want multiple desktops anyway, and it's irritating that it shows a little green bar under every program even when I only have one desktop...
I'm not sure if this is a bug or just an issue affect my PC, but every icon on my desktop has a square-shaped line on the bottom left. In the attached image, you can see Steam games, but it affects other shortcuts as well (I just tested with Word, for example). Is this known? If so, any possible solutions?
what ive in the past is got a 3.5mm jack from my gaming monitors headphone port and then ran it into my line in on my mother board and it had sound playing through my pc's headphones..just moved into a new office and pluged everything back where it used to be and now ive got no sound coming through the line in.
