Oct 21, 2015Until yesterday I was able to rename photos and transfer them to a different folder. Today Windows 10 will not allow me to do this.

Jan 5, 2016These are my issues:
When I create a New Folder and try naming it, it freezes, then Explorer will restart. The folder will be made but if I try to rename it, it will do the same thing.
When I try deleting that empty folder, the Moving to Recycle bin takes over 30 sec long, there is nothing inside it. I can delete a big regular file instantly.
The Context menu also has very black thicker separator lines compared to what it should be a faint light grey color. That was the first thing I noticed that was off.
Photos App Don't Even Have A Folder View
Jul 23, 2015I can't believe how basic the photo app still is. You still don't even have a folder view. It is damn slow and constantly crashes and doesn't show all pictures. we are one week away from launch of Win 10 and Microsoft still delivers this crappy piece of software. It's unbelievable! What have they done in all the last months?! There was hardly any progress at all! Don't they have enough man-power for this? Even a one-man app-developer should get a better photo app within 2 months!

Dec 8, 2015I have done it before, but cannot remember what to do.
I have a bunch of pictures from the Grand Canyon, taken on different cameras and cell phones.
All have differed names and I would like to make them all the same like:
change from: img_001_dgep.jpg and so on
to: GC2014_1.jpg, GC2014_2.jpg and so on.
I know there is a simple way of doing it, but I can't remember how.
Renaming Folders And Scrolling
Dec 22, 2015Since Windows 10, when I try to rename a file, I right click allowing the file box to open. But as soon as I try to rename the folder, it closes out. If I just type in a few letters before it closes out, eventually I can get it renamed, but it takes multiple tries and is very time consuming.
Also, if I scroll down a page using the bar on the right hand side, the page continues to go back up to the top.
Won't Allow Renaming Of Files / Pics
Aug 1, 2015Windows 10 won't let me rename files, pics etc in the normal way. It allows me to try, then reverts to the previous name. It is not a problem of permissions, I have checked that.
It will allow me to rename on "Properties", but that is one file at a time. How am I to rename a group of pictures? This really seems like a glitch.
Transferring OS To A New Drive
Mar 20, 2016I have been having problems with my PC and recommended to do a HDD wipe. I decided I would knock down two birds with one stone and install an SSD during the wipe. I would like to wipe the hard drive then reinstall windows and some important programs onto the SSD. However, my system is pre-built and came with the OS already installed, and I do not have access to the product key for windows. I also am concerned because it came with Windows 8, from which I upgraded to Windows 10 and am worried that I will not be able to receive Windows 10 again.

Oct 12, 2015I have a new laptop, so unless this is some weird feature that's specific to the laptop, then I assume it's a Windows 10 settings issue because I've never encountered anything like this before. I downloaded several JPGs and PDFs from various emails and began to change the arbitrary "234809238ksdfjskdfjsdlkf" type filenames to specific things indicating what they are, and I got done and realized all the stuff I typed was gone and the JPGs had changed to "filename(1)", "filename(2)", "filename(3)" and the same with the PDFs.. and "filename" was the name I'd assigned to the first file of each file type. The subsequent names I'd chosen were entirely different and the files were all unrelated to one another.

When I install a new program , a shortcut is created on start menu , and this shortcut is located correctly according to first letter , for example "Adobe Photoshop CC" , is located under "A" section on start menu.
But if I rename this shortcut to "Photoshop CC" , the shortcut remain under "A" section and will not go under "P" section as it should be. There's no option to refresh or re-arrange items on start menu.

Nov 24, 2015Upgraded to W10 from W7 several months ago now and activated and used only the built-in Administrator account. Which is what I have done for many years now to stop the UAC popups.
However, I have soon discovered this Administrator account, while blocking the UAC popups has some serious limitations. Like cannot run Edge or any of the Metro Apps. Yes, I have tried the workarounds but they too have issues.
So how can I transferred all my settings for my programs and windows to another local username?
BSOD :: Transferring Files From Laptop HD To External
Jan 19, 2016I finally got me a BSOD on my windows 10, on laptop. I was tranferring some music files from my ssd on laptop to an external hard drive in a wifi hdd enclosure. The error is "EXFAT_FILE_SYSTEM (EXFAT.SYS)".The HD (WD10EADS) in the enclosure is formatted in Fat32, and I was thinking that might have something to do it the error. But the HD has to be in Fat32 in order for the WIFI enclosure to be able to see the HD, per the instructions of enclosure.

Jan 28, 2016With Win7 I used to open one external drive, then through My computer locate the other drive. I would have each drive on its own window. I could then select relevant files on one drive copy and paste into the other drive. With Win10 if I click on File explorer I can open one external drive, where can I locate the other drive to put in a separate window. If I click on the other drive, it just opens it in the same window. Win7 and previous versions used to be so simple.

After a long struggle to import my pix from the camera to Win10 and finally succeeding, I've now another mystery
1. How to put the imported 10 or so photos into a folder? I did it with another bunch of imported photos and now I can't remember how I did it though I tried and tried..
2. How can I pick out the ones I want to send (and how to send them by email?) as I prefer not to delete the ones I won't send, to avoid later regrets. I don't even know how to delete any individual photos....
MS keeps everything a secret - no links to choose photos, or delete them, or send them, or change the order in which they are arranged, etc. I had come to learn photos in Win7 with "Photo Gallery" after a long time - now I'm condemned to the same torture on the new windows!
OneDrive Including ALL Photos On PC In Photos Tab Stream
Jun 29, 2015Even if I mark an album, say, 'my documents' as a "documents" type folder in my onedrive online settings, these photos will still be included in my 'photos' tab stream. that and, any photo ever that's on my PC will show up- not just photos in my "my photos" folder on my PC. it's really annoying, i'm getting gamesave pictures, wallpapers, screenshots, and all kinds of random crap that aren't supposed to be part of my camera roll stream all over my one drive... why is it doing this?

Jul 30, 2015So I upgraded my Surface Pro 3 to Windows 10 last night and so far quite impressed. However it looks like an issue has carried over from Windows 8.1 to 10.
I'm finding that the Photos app cannot see the photos stored on my SD card. I have directed the library to point to the SD card and it is the only location defined in the Library for Photos. This was a problem in 8.1 but as I never used the app I stopped worrying about trying to sort it. However I can see myself using the app in 10, so would like to figure out what is happening.
It's not a case of the app not showing duplicates because I temporarily disabled the option for it to show OneDrive photos and now nothing shows.
