I mainly keep my computer hooked up to my TV and my scaling is set to 125%, generally this is fine for everything, however there are some apps (particularly, Readily, from the windows store) that could be at 150% or so. Is there a way to give this app a custom parameter (Nothing in the apps settings that I could find) like this while retaining 125% for everything else?

View 1 RepliesIn win 8 if I made a change to a setting in mail or IE or added a favourite this information would sync to my other devices so everything was identical
with Mail or Edge in 10, they seem to run totally independent on my machine, no settings or favourites get synced, so I have to do the same config/changes on both devices
If syncing will come back at some point or are all devices independent now same MS account on both and all syncing options turned on
I have Windows 10. When I select the Settings option there is not an option to turn on Hey Cortana. The first option is "Cortana can give you suggestions..." and the second is "Device search history". Where to find the option to turn on "Hey Cortana" as it should be under Settings according tot he sites I have read.

I'm trying to change the settings and I can't changed date/time nor can I access the settings( Start>Settings). When I try and change the settings or date/time I get "This app can't open. Your trial period for this app has expired. Visit the Windows Store. Visit the Windows Store to purchase the full app." When I try to open Windows Store, same thing happens. Date/time is now an app?

What does this mean and if it means I can't run the app, what can I do about it? Do I have to find a Win 10 compatible version?
New Windows 10 Home Computer, set up using PCMover from Windows 7 Home Premium Computer. A few problems, of course, so far mainly applications that did not transfer properly, and those easily solved.
One problem however I don't understand, and, therefore, cannot fix. I've gone into the settings for default applications, some of which are constantly ignored. I know that they are ignored, as WinPatrol keeps notifying me of attempted changes. One such pop-up is on the screen right now, stating that a change for files with the extension .avi have been changed from the setting to use VLC media player to use Windows Media Player. I clicked on No, to reject the change, whereupon a new one, this time for .cab files popped up. I will reject it, and a series of such changes will appear and be rejected.
I can open the Calendar app from the Start menu, but Calendar doesn't seem to be recognized in Settings.Settings/System/Apps & Features Settings/ Privacy/ Background Apps.When I 'Choose a default', the only option I have is to check the Windows Store for alternatives..? Is this a bug?
View 4 RepliesI enjoy talking to friends through Xbox Live, but I recently sold my Xbox One for financial reasons. I have been using the Xbox App to communicate with them using Party Chat. It's fun to sometimes play soft music through the microphone just to have in the background that's routed through my computer, but there are a few issues with doing so.
Since there are no audio settings built into the Xbox App, I've had to MacGyver a solution in a way. There is an application called Voicemeeter Banana that allows you to route certain device audio into other devices, and is compatible with their VB Audio Cables, the freeware alternative to VAC. Through this I have my headphones set as my Default Communication Device and my primary cable as my Default Device. One of my two secondary cables are set as the Default and Default Communications Device for recording. In Voicemeeter I have my microphone routed to the secondary cable's input. My primary cable's output is routed to my headphones and my secondary cable's input as well.

The problem here doesn't lie in Voicemeter, though. It lies in the Xbox App, as these settings work fine with Skype or just browsing and listening to videos/music. For some reason, ever since the newest update for Windows 10, when I use these audio settings the Xbox App party system does not detect any audio coming from my recording device or any of my friends' microphones. I believe it might have something to do with Exclusive Mode settings, but nothing I've tried so far has worked. So far, I've reinstalled the drivers on at least 7 different occasions, I've messed with the Audio Formats extensively, I've tried switching up the cables testing for bad drivers, and I've reinstalled the OS from scratch countless times (to 8.1 then upgrading, not straight to Windows 10).
Is there any way I can get this set up to work, or am I just asking for more than is currently possible?
Have the mike setup also location but can't seen to get it turned on.

I am running build 10586, but already had this problem in build 10571, the first one I had as an Insider for PC.
i was using Windows 10 Enterprise . And from automatic update, i lost my most important files . But , i have now recovered them . Now, the problem is that only two apps i.e. Cortana and Microsoft Edge are coming . And i can't find store,outlook,news and other apps etc .

View 2 RepliesIve updated my 8.1 today and now my start menu and indeed any metro apps wont start (ironic).If I create a new user their start menu is ok. I'm trying to revert back to my 8.1 installation but I cant because I cannot get to the revert option as it lives in the metro settings page NOT the standard control panel (why oh why are there two places with differing options, though in this case if it was all metro I couldnt access anything).
I cant revert using the new user as then it tells me I cant revert because I have added a user since upgrading? I cant start anything metro..I cant start anything from the right click start menu..I cant right click in file explorer (which I have to start via win-r) so its hard to get anything running as administrator..its a total fail of an upgrade for me.
When I open Google Maps, I get the street view photos at the bottom of the screen, but the map itself is a black screen in both street map and satellite settings.

I an trying to run Autoroute on an Asus machine with Win 10 and get a message saying "your registry settings for this application were not copied correctly". This occurs when the program in installed from its original discs or from a new works disc. I think it previously ran OK since upgrading to Win 10 but cannot be 100% certain.
View 4 RepliesDaily is the name given to the new replacement for Mozilla Thunderbird. It often has daily updates, and the one today (08 Jan 2016) causes it to lose all email settings. As a result, when it start is shows no existing email, no email account, and looks like you are starting with a fresh install of a new email client.
To get around this I downloaded and installed the latest version of Thunderbird (38.5.1) and this did show all my email OK. So something bad happened to Daily - hopefully whoever it is who controls that software will fix it tomorrow.
Power & Sleep settings won't save my screen brightness settings. On my plugged in HP laptop default the screen brightness is set to maximum despite making changes in the Power & Sleep menu screen. I've even tried creating my own Power Plan but the next time it restarts it changes to the HP recommended power plan which sets the screen brightness to maximum.

A couple of days ago my system received a Windows 10 update that took about 2 hours and looked like it was installing Windows all over again (but it wasn't) and once this happened I couldn't find the Microsoft Edge application and the start button would not work at all. After doing a system restore to a date prior to the update things are back to "normal" except for this one problem.Currently my start menu does not show any Recently Used or Favorite Apps in it as shown below.If I select the All apps button it also shows nothing:
I made sure that all of the settings in order to see recently used apps and all my apps are correct as below are my settings:I have tried a couple of solutions that handled Cortana not searching for programs or "some" apps were missing from all apps but I have yet to find a solution to when absolutely no apps are showing in the start menu. I know the applications still exist on my machine as I use Firefox and Microsoft Word and Outlook plus many more apps but they aren't showing up at all. I am also under a local account instead of my Microsoft account and both have this problem.
How do i organize my "All Apps" Menu. Calculator, Contact, Mail, Cortana, etc ALL of this garbage bloatware is something i just want to create a folder called Microsoft Bloat and put it in there. How do i do this?
First time around, i uninstalled all of it using power shell but i ended up needing the store and one other app but W10 went retarded and didn't allow me to reinstall the packages, so this time around. I just want to organize them into a folder that i will never touch .
i don't feel like downgrading back to 8.1 which as it stands right now was better for me when using Start8.
Random apps are not showing up in the "All Apps" section of the Start Menu after installing a clean version of Windows 10 (not an upgrade), and re-installing all my favorite software, In other words, finding a launcher to countless programs now means visiting "C:/Program Files/WhateverRandomSoftware/launcher.exe." Well, that;'s no fun.

What I am trying to do is work set up manual updates, once I have done that I will disable automatic updates because it causes me problems when they run in the background just when I am doing other intense tasks.
