View 7 RepliesWindows 10. logitech K120 keyboard. How to set num lock to be on at startup. With win8.1 num lock was always on at startup
View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded to Windows 10 and I am having some issues.
First one is: When I click jpg, gif, or any image files that uses the photo viewer as a default viewer, photo viewer pops up twice, one with the file I selected and one with the collection screen. It only does this on the first view of a image file after reboot. Once it does this, it doesn't do it until I reboot.
Second one is: I use a PIN as my login password. The number lock on the log in screen doesn't work. I almost always have to press NUM Lock button in order to use the number key pad. I checked the BIOS setting and Num Lock is on.
I have three entries (among others) that are slated to startup when I logon. Each of them are featured twice in the start up tab of program manager.
On checking with autoruns I found that they occurred twice in the registry under
HKLMSOFTWAREMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun
and
HKLMSOFTWAREWow6432NodeMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun 14-12-2015 02:23
Is this normal?
My laptop is running windows 10 64 bit.
since Win 10 whenever I need to restart my Windows after an update etc it always does so with key pad lock off whereas before on Win 7 it was always on, is there a fix for this as I am so used to just banging in numbers and then seeing it doesn't work, especially using a pin to log in with.

For some reason, my num lock is off by default. I looked up the solutions, and the ones I found said to turn it on at the login screen, then reboot. It remained on for the next boot, but after that, it was off again. So I tried changing the registry key under "InitialKeyboardIndicators" to "214783650", which was the other suggestion I found. Neither of these worked.
View 9 RepliesI upgraded (free) from 7 to 10 a month ago and all is going well apart from the lock screen. Sometimes when I boot up I see the lock screen for the briefest moment before I get to the regular sign in screen. Win+L does not result in a Lock screen but the regular sign in screen (Blue window and bottom left options).
I have tried the NoLockScreen DWord registry option with no luck either. Both manually and as a 'reg' file insert. Lock screen is set on via settings and I can select Spotlight, background images and apps to show etc.
I do not have Gpedit.msc as I have the Home version of Win 10.
I changed the REGEDIT for InitialKeyboardIndicators to a value of 2 and it worked for about a week, but now, even though the value is still 2, the num lock is off after the computer starts up.
This is a brand new Toshiba computer: Toshiba Satellite C55-C5241 15.6 Inch Laptop (Intel Core i5, 8 GB, 1TB HDD, Black)
I am going to start locking my PC instead of hibernating or switching my pc if I'm only leaving it to stand by for an hour or two (or less), however on my power options from start there is no option to lock it, I have attached the image of what I am presented with.

View 9 RepliesI've been running Windows 10 myself for a few days. My girlfriend for a few weeks/months. We noticed a small something that is not much but is getting on the nerve after a while.
We lock our computer or put them to sleep and when trying to get from the lock screen to the login screen, nothing is happening. We wait a few moment and everything is fine. Here is a few cases...
I'm at the lock screen. Click the mouse or hit a key. Nothing. Try a few times and I get to the login screen.
Another case : From the lock screen, hit a key on the keyboard multiple time and nothing. Click the mouse once and it's ok.
Everything work fine after that and it's no big deal but whe having to do this game a few times each days it's start to get on the nerve. Sometimes it's fine and we get to the login screen right away.
In my case it's a brand new install and in the case of my girlfriend it's an upgrade from 8.1.
After upgrading my Windows 8.1 system to to Windows10 , when I restart or turn on my computer the numbers lock key is not turned on. This may sound trivial, but if I forget about it, my passwords won't work because many of the passwords contain numbers. Is there a way for me to keep the numbers lock key on when my computer restarts?
View 9 RepliesMy lock screen has a notification of a speech bubble with 99+ written next to it. I can't work out what it's referring to.
Please see the attachment:
What this is referring to or how I might be able to find out?
Recently i notice that i am not being presented with the lock screen initially before the login screen. I don't recall doing anything to bypass the lock screen. how to get the lock screen back?
View 7 RepliesThis issue has plagued me since I've transitioned to Windows 8 and up. The Lock Screen feature (primarily ctrl + w) gets in the way of using certain programs. I've tried a few methods, all of which either don't work or stopped working.
Registry Editor
Local Group Policy Editor
And Winaero Tweaker
Is there any other way to disable this feature? It's the only problem I have with this OS. As I've said before, one of the methods worked fine but I feel that an update might have nullified my changes.
since I installed windows 10, every time I power-OFF, the number lock closes. That did not happen with Windows 7. At first, I activated the Num Lock every time I booted. Now, even when the Num Lock light is ON, the number pad is inactive. I wish to have the Num lock ON at all times, like with Windows 7.

View 1 RepliesI have a brand new Dell Inspiron 7348 2 in 1 on Windows 10. I just noticed today that it would not auto rotate and that the option for Rotation Lock in Action Center and in the Display Setting is greyed out. My computer had all the latest updates and I just updated the drivers and the problem still persists. The problem did not occur 12/6/15 so I thought that one of the updates since then had been the cause. I uninstalled them one by one to no avail. On a possibly similar note, when I boot up, airplane mode is automatically enabled and Action Center is in Quiet Hours, even though it doesn't show it. I can resolve those both by clicking their respective icons but thought that it might me related to my current problem with rotation lock.
View 7 RepliesI just installed W10M and MSN Weather stopped working so I installed Weather Channel app. I can't get any weather to display on the lock screen. I am running OS 10166 for some reason.

View 2 RepliesHow can I disable caps lock in Windows 10 the old regedit for 8.1 doesn't seem to work?
View 3 RepliesI would like to disable caps lock on my keyboard having previously done it but itsa not working now.
I have tried this:
[URL] ...
...but the scancode binary number mentioned isn't there in my registry.
I used to have screen-saver set as 'none' and 'on resume, display logon screen', and set the time there the same as the 'display off' option in 'power options'. And that works fine on a PC, no issues there.
Now I started using a laptop, and it has different 'display off' times for 'when plugged' and 'when unplugged', and different display off times for different 'power plans', so I can't use that trick any more.
