View 6 RepliesAfter I upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10, my sleep feature quit working properly. There was a point in time a couple months back it did work, but since I hardly use it I didn't notice a problem. Recently I decided I'd start using it, and that's when I noticed the problem. When I go to sleep mode, it goes to sleep, but than when I bring it out of sleep mode it just restarts. I don't get any kind of error message at all, and as far as I can tell my power settings are set right. One suggestion I found suggested to revert my driver for Intel Management Engine Interface from version 10 or 11 to 9.5. I just reformat my hard drive and start over. I'm trying to avoid that at all costs. I see suggestions on the settings in BIOS. Which settings in particular should I look to change?
View 9 RepliesSo, as the title says, my computer has recently stopped sleeping completely. When I press the sleep key or tell it to sleep through the start menu it just shuts down. The screen fades like it's sleeping but when I turn it back on it has to go through the entire boot sequence and my session is unsaved.
View 4 RepliesI'm having a problem when I'm on my computer programming or playing a game, my system just shuts down by its self , and when I have closed all windows, its fine all day. Like I will be playing a online game and if anything is open it works for like 5 minutes then it just goes off, no sounds or any beeps, just goes off, I have just got a video card its a GT740 and I just got more ram witch I got at the same time and I installed it so now I have a better video card and 16gb of ram, would the video card not be setup right or its bad ram, This just started when I got the video card and the ram about a week then it started this, I don't know what to do about this, I'm running windows 10 64bit.. I forgot to say that the cpu is 3.50GHz ....
View 2 RepliesI used to run Windows 7, 64 bit. Then I took the free upgrade to Windows 10. It took me 3 or 4 attempts to get it to download and install.
Now my computer shuts itself down when it thinks I am away from it. My husband and I run a law office out of our home, and I cannot babysit the computer all day. I need it to stay on until I turn it off.
Here are my power settings:
Turn off display - 20 hours and 10 minutes
Turn off hard disk - 2340 minutes (39 hours)
Sleep - never
Power button - do nothing
But it ignores me. It still turns off my computer all by itself if I am not there giving it constant keystrokes or mouse clicks. Totally unacceptable. If I can't fix this by the 5th, I am going back to 7.
Then I was counseled to o to the ControlPanel/Power Options On the left side, click ‘Choose what the Power button does’, un-check ‘Turn on fast startup’ and save my changes. But that did not work either - it still shut itself down the minute my back was turned. It seems I am not the only one with this problem.
A few days ago, I decided to overclock my PC. It froze a bunch, then gave a ton of random shut downs. I tried replacing the power supply, and the video card. it was good for a day, then fried the motherboard.
So I went out, bought a new case. New motherboard, new processor, new video card, new power supply, new liquid cooling, new monitor and keyboard and mouse. I ran all the cables neatly.
The only thing I reused is the memory, SSD HD, backup 1tb hard drive, and cd rom drive. Installed everything, and have been playing fallout 4 all day.
10 minutes ago, same exact thing. PC shuts down out of nowhere. I check the event log, not a single notice. I am at a COMPLETE loss for words now. I have a moster power surge protector, but I dont know that it has anything to do with it. I did plug the PC right into the wall.
I am a loss for words. Im now down $1500, an I d i feel like it was for nothing now.
My computer (an Asus Republic of Gamers) shuts down when in sleep mode. More precisely, I put it in sleep mode (in 1-2 seconds), but when I open the lid or press a key on the keyboard to wake it up, it starts from scratch, as if I had shut it down.
I tried deactivating Intel Management Engine Interface in the Device Manager as I saw it could be a reason for my problem, but it doesn't solve it. I reinstalled Windows from scratch (from a USB key) and the problem is still there.
I only have the computer for less than a month and I think it worked fine at the beginning.
I just built a new pc. Specs are Asus Z87-Pro Motherboard, Intel i7 4790k, 16gb RAM, 3T seagate HD. Everything has been performing well on my computer except for when it needs to restart. When I go into windows and click shutdown it has no problem but when I click restart it will exit windows and turn off the display but the computer will remain running and will not boot back up.
I have to manually press the power button to turn it off and then press it again to boot it back up. This also happens when it needs to restart from other programs. From what I have found is it may have to be something with bios versions or settings but I honestly have no clue. I have the most recent bios update for my mobo and I haven't found any settings that would fix this in my bios either.
After installing windows 10, my computer heats up and shuts down while playing games...
The specs of my computer are :
Dell
intel core i7 processor
8 GB ram
64 bit os
intel hd graphics card 4000
approx total memory of graphics card 1792 mb
When I press the sleep button in Win 10 computer shuts down
View 1 RepliesI loved playing Solitaire in Win 7 but having an unusual problem playing the Solitaire app in Win 10. After about 15 minutes, the computer just shuts down. No warning, no error messages, no BSOD, nothing.
I can guarantee you it is not just a coincidence. My computer could be running for days without any problem but as soon as I start playing Solitaire this happens.
I upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday, and at first, everything was fine, but when I play league of legends, randomly, my computer just says "input not supported" or "no signal" or sometimes nothing at all, and then shuts down. This never happened before I upgraded to Windows 10. I went back to Windows 8.1, but it still shuts down in the middle of league games. Again, never happened before going to Windows 10. Is it my GPU? or CPU? or PSU?

CPU Cooler: Corsair H105 73.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler
Motherboard: MSI Z97-G55 SLI ATX LGA1150 Motherboard

GPU: Asus GeForce GTX 970 4GB STRIX Video Card
PSU: Corsair CX 600W 80+ Bronze Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply
Also, the SSD is my boot drive and has league on it, it has only about 35GB out of 240GB left.
I wanted to disable login password to I ran netplwiz and unchecked that requirement. It worked, but now when I turn on my computer, it says my password or username is incorrect. I click ok and it gives me two "users" on the lower left hand corner. I choose the correct one and enter my password and windows starts. But I have only one user administrator! I'm usi
View 1 RepliesI recently upgraded my SENS 900X Samsung laptop from Windows 7 Home Premium to Windows 10. I did the easy upgrade, not a clean install. I did reformat my computer while it was in Windows 7, updated it, then upgraded to Windows 10.
When I turn on or restart my computer, I get a message which says:
I found : Link: Fast Startup - Turn On or Off in Windows 10
However, after performing step 3, I get this message: "Your power plan information isn't available. Access is denied."
I've installed Windows 10 on my "new" computer. Everything worked fine.
But my computer won't turn againt. My Monitor says " No Signal Detected "
I can't turn on Windows Defender. When I try to launch it, a window saying "This app has been turned off and is not monitoring your computer" pops up. I tried everything that's listed on the MS answers thread. I am unable to start the Windows Security Centre service too. It doesn't stay enabled i.e., it becomes disabled as soon as I close the Services app. I have no anti-virus installed. Been using WD since I upgraded.
View 1 RepliesFhe topmost process keeps my fan running at full speed. when I end task this "runtime broker" everything goes back to normal. it keeps coming back everytime I turn on my computer from hibernate. what this is?
View 7 Repliessince I upgraded the computer to Windows 10, when I want to turn off my PC, the screen turn off, but the light on the power button stays on. the computer turns off completely.
while if I want to put my computer on standby, the computer will not turn on more, I am forced to turn off the computer by holding the power button press.
I started my windows 10 update around 10:00 last night. For awhile it seemed stuck in suspend mode (black screen, monitor light orange, computer light still on etc) and I was worried but eventually I got the update screen and it went from 30% to 56% in around 30 minutes or so.The bottom screen said my computer would turn off and on again multiple times. But then later it went back to the "suspend mode" again right before I fell asleep and now 9 hours later it's still stuck like this!! No update screen no nothing. Just sitting is a suspend mode (I think!) And not allowing me to do anything.
View 3 RepliesI recently upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 10. When I power down the system from the menu, my computer does not completely turn off. The procedure I use is described below:
Click Windows_Start_button > Power > Shutdown
The system closes applications and appears to initiate a shutdown procedure. Everything appears to be shut off, but my mouse is still lit up. I do notice that the fan stops and everything else appears to be completely shut down. When I was running Windows 7 before my upgrade, my system completely powered down.
I have a dual boot system with Linux, and when I power down from Linux, the shutdown is complete, so I don't think I accidentally did anything to the hardware or BIOS.
Does the new Maps app being built for the phone and PC features voice turn-by-turn navigation? I know the current Maps app does not. You need to use Here Drive or another third party app for voice navigation.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems with me Mouse and key board, on boot up they will turn on for about 20 seconds then turn off. Then a error comes up,inaccessible_ boot_drive. But if I restart my pc the mouse and keyboard will do the same thing but instead of the error I get, choose keyboard layout, and a list of options but I cant choose them because the mouse isn't working. This all started happening after I upgraded my power supple but I when I put my old power supple in I had the same problem. I have windows 10and I have tried using different keyboards and different usb ports.
View 1 RepliesLaptop, Dell Studio 1555, Previously running Win7 Ultimate and had no issues regarding random shutdowns.
Upgraded to Win10 Pro, then wiped drive and clean installed Win10 Pro. No issues during installation. No issues with device drivers. No other software installed.
Windows 10 randomly shuts down completely. no BSOD. turned off automatic restart, still no BSOD. Random shutdowns always occurs whenever i click on something (does not matter what). Random shutdown does not occur when system is idle.
Event viewer shows only Unexpected Shutdown.
Also have 4 consistent errors Event Error 7031 Service Control manager
User data Access_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly
User Data Storage_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly
Contact Data_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly
Sync Host_Session1 service terminated unexpectedly
Lately my PC has been shutting down out of the blue, in about 5 seconds at that. Also, upon turning it back on it starts up real slowly. This generally happens when playing games, however if I'm on the computer that's what I'm doing so not sure if that's a good assumption. No viruses, according to AVG at least. When I look at shutdowns in event viewer it doesn't say much more than it shut down due to error.
/e I'm running windows 10 on an HP Envy with i7 Processor and 12 gb ram. Also, of 5 Hardware monitoring programs, not a single one will report any 5v or 12v readings for my motherboard. Is my power supply bad, or are none of these compatible enough to test it?
I recently upgraded to win10 (yay), which caused a slight issue for my laptop. When I let it enter sleep mode, it would automatically wake up once every few hours or so for "important activities" or something along those lines. I did a google search and managed to find a solution via command prompt.
All was good until I recently noticed that my laptop has stopped going into hibernation/sleep properly. As far as I can work out, when the laptop is set to sleep (through power button settings, windows menu or hotkeys), it goes into sleep mode but then switched off the power supply.
I will be in Gmail and it just shuts down. reopens and works fine for a while then shuts down after installing W 10?.
