View 14 RepliesI'm using an Intel SSD 240GB 520 series. Always loading very fast, i.e., about 8 seconds from cold boot.
Since windows 10 is installed, boot time is about 20 seconds and desktop icons take some time to refresh and load their images.
Regarding the boot time: I've narrowed it down the an unexplained read/write access on my external HDD eSATA which is used for backups, though currently all backup process are stopped.
When I remove / turn off my external HDD, boot time is about 8 seconds. I can't figure out why all of a sudden it required this access to this HDD.
As for the slow icon refresh.. how to fix this.
W7 used to be fairly slow to start, about 2 minutes, but it shut down pretty quickly. Since "upgrading " to W10 my PC takes about 3 minutes to boot and even longer to shut down. Unless I can leave it, I usually just switch it off after about 30 seconds.
In other forums I have heard reports of boot times ranging from super fast (15-30 seconds) to funereal (5 - 10 minutes and then some). How to speed this up?
I was thinking that a clean re-install would be the best solution, but since this was the free upgrade, I don't have a copy to re-install. Maybe do a clean re-install of W7 and let MS upgrade it again (maybe!)
I just updated my windows 10 build 9926 to 10041 and I found start up is too slow about 1-2 min, in 9926 is was just around 20-30sec. And its also freezing a lot on my dell laptop.
View 2 RepliesI got a annoying issue with my google chrome when i click on it it takes so long to start up and I have no problem with any other program and sometime I get black squares when i open a new tab its really annoying. I have tried most thing like uninstall and install tried unchecking hard ware acceleration and tried winsock reset to I dunno what to do ...
View 1 Replies I have recently just upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8 via the recommended way. However, I have noticed it take a bit longer to start up and restart than Windows 8, it's like I have gone back to Win Vista or 7.
I personally would have performed a Clean Install of Windows 10 if there was a legal ISO for download but in saying that..... I bought my Laptop with Windows 8 pre-installed and wouldn't quite know how that would work performing a clean install anyway with out knowing my Windows 8 Product key as it is not visible on the Laptop. Not to mention that with it being a manufacturer OEM it probably wouldn't work using a legal ISO download. I didn't even get a Windows 8 installation DVD with my Laptop so had to make a Backup DVD.
So I'm thinking if no joy I shall just go back to my Windows 7. It would be a shame really because I really like the whole layout with Windows 10..... It's cleaner and crisper.
When i alt tab from a game to desktop it should be pretty much instant like with windows 7 but now with windows 10 everytime i alt tab out of a game there is a black screen for 3 seconds, its not instant like before. It is the same when i open up the game again it takes a long time.
View 1 RepliesWhen i upgraded from windows 7 to windows 10 i really noticed lag when alt tabbing from games. When im alt tabbing from games the screen goes black 2-3 seconds compared to windows 7 which the alt tab were instant from games. This also occurs when opening, the game takes 3 seconds to open. This is really annoying and i have tried disabling programs and updating my graphic driver.
View 1 RepliesMy laptop acer4750 resume very slow after hibernate, it keep showing windows's logo and not run to log-in screen anymore. Then i need hard-reset every time
View 2 RepliesWhen accessing certain folders e.g. folder with loads of movies (mkv)
The file explorer takes ages to show the files and the green progress bar at the top takes ages to load. All the movie thumbnails slowly start appearing...
In windows 7 this was kinda instantaneous
I'm a huge fan of the Windows 10, I love it, however recently I've gotten my first glimpse of the buggy side. The computer (pretty decent) is taking a very very long time to shut down. I just let it be, maybe update or something, however it kept doing it. After a few days I checked the event viewer, and I had quite a few of errors.
The main error (that I think, I'm no computer expert) that is causing this domino effect is a distributed error, CLSID and APPID. I've tried many solutions out there, and none seem to work.
I upgraded to Windows 10 today. I have two issues.
1. I play a game called "Starcraft II" and I have a problem with the game minimizing and maximizing sometimes very slowly, every 5th attempt or so. During this time it takes up to 40 seconds for the game to go through with the maximizing/minimizing process, and ending the task with task manager is not possible.
I have tried messing with MSConfig and reinstalling the game. No luck.
2. I have an old HDD on my PC installed with windows 7, and on my windows 7 SSD installation I could simply search for shortcuts I placed from my HDD into my SSD. This is no longer possible.
Upon start up my computer is extremely slow and I get this message "cannot connect to Windows service". I can't open any of my documents or connect to google chrome. If I let it sit for about 10 minutes I can access google chrome and my files. I have taken the computer into the local computer fix it shop and they said there were a couple of broken registry paths, no malware and everything ran fine for them. The first couple of time I used the computer after getting it back home it worked great but now I'm back to square one. This is extremely frustrating.
View 2 RepliesAll browsers in my laptop including chrome, firefox are slow after windows 10 upgrade. Data connection speed is very high but loading time is slow. How to fix this?
View 12 RepliesWindows 10 explorer is getting slower and slower to open. I'm now up to 20 seconds and then another 15 seconds to open a website. Tried system restore, troubleshoot and removing addons but to no affect. Worked fine in Windows 7 and initially after downloading Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesHave run 4 times SFC and keeps finding errors.
Upgraded from win 7 Pro x64 to Win 10 Pro 10 days ago,, first week startup was perfect, then something happened, an upgrade or external program, don't know.
Have read in other forums to run DSIM.exe and found some errors, but didn't know what to do..
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /startComponentCleanup
I'm attaching SFC log
FastStartup and hibernate on option are checked since the beginning
I thought W7 was slow to boot, about 2 and a half minutes, but W10 is even longer, over 3 minutes.
W7 shut down fairly quickly, but W10 is taking as long, if not longer, than it does to start up.
When I first upgraded to Win 10 I had no problem but now outgoing messages stay in my Outbox for absolutely ages. I have recently gone to fibre broadband and have no problems receiving emails.

View 14 RepliesI have Lumia 730 Dual Sim with Windows 10 latest update.
Since evening whenever I plug charger it gives me notification that "Phone Charging Slowly... Charged Phone is Happy Phone.. Always use Original data cable or charger that came with device...."
I'm using same charger which came with mobile. This notification is coming when I plugin data cable with lappy. That was okay. Because with lappy USB port it will charge slow but why with charger I'm getting same notification?
My os take 4 minute to start desktop. I reduce the startup programs to 5, but the same problem....

I have recently upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10. My web browsing is extremely slow, I somehow feel that this started before the upgrade and may not be related to the upgrade. I have to refresh some pages as many as 10 times before the page will load and overall web browsing is extremely slow.
View 14 RepliesMy son's PC upgraded to W10 and was running fine for 1 month. After an update 2 weeks ago, it slowed to a crawl taking 30-60 min to finish startup and 10 min to launch apps. Rolling back to Windows 8 didn't work. Malwarebytes didn't find anything but Chrome/Firefox stopped loading so I am limited in doing further scans. The only thing that works in real time is the mouse cursor. Based on the task manager, the CPU use is low but the C: disk is always at 100%. I don't want to wipe all stuff with a reset.

I am using Win10 10240. I have a problem copying a large number of big files. The setup is a bit tortuous.
The source is an old WD Cloud NAS on ethernet via my ethernet connected router. The destination is an external hard drive on USB3.0
Using file explorer, I drag a bunch of folders to the destination and copying begins but either stalls soon after or indeed never starts. When it works the speed is around 10Mp/s but why does it stall at random places?
I've tried just copying a single folder too. Single files are OK. I've looked at the resource monitor and so on and can't see anything odd although I'm no expert there.
I don't know of any other way to get these files across. The WD Cloud software is hopeless and not fit for purpose in my view. Would a command line xcopy batch file be better? Or third party stuff?
