Windows finally bullied me into upgrading to Win10 from Win7 yesterday. Now some things that used to be clickable aren't. Like this little window, for example.... nothing on it responds to the mouseovers OR clicks.
View 9 RepliesI have a HP 15-E092 Laptop. I upgraded the laptop to windows 10 a few months ago and the touch pad and buttons worked fine.
Today I was using the mouse pad perfectly fine. I then went to sleep for abit and when I came back to the laptop, the Mouse pad and left and right click buttons no longer worked. I have checked in device manager and can no longer see the entry for the synaptics pad that was there before.
How can I get this working again, as I prefer to use the pad as I use the laptop alot on the move.
I upgraded about a month ago. My laptop locked me out entirely shortly after the upgrade so I had to take it to be wiped clean. When I got it back everything was in working order with Windows 10 except the top row of keys that control volume, brightness and the ability to pause, rewind and skip songs now solely does the standard system commands of f1-f10 *caret browsing on/of, find in page, etc* Im not sure if they worked the first time I tried to upgrade because I couldn't even log on to my computer after I upgraded the first time so I reformatted.

The buttons glowing red below do not do anything when pressed anymore.
Things I've tried
- Going into Task Manager and Restarting Windows Explorer.exe
- Restarting the computer
- Doing a virus and malware scan with AVG & Malwarebytes
- Yelling at the computer
- Googling the problem
- Praying to the lord of computers
The above has not worked.
Capacitive buttons on my lumia 720 doesn't respond after upgrade to windows 10 latest build. Every functionality was fine with 8.1. Not sure how to get over this issue.
Update - Reverted back to 8.1 and the issue is gone.
I just went from Windows 7 to 10 and now my USB keyboard and mouse are unresponsive.
View 5 RepliesSuddenly when I turned on my machine, the left click button on touchpad will no longer work,right click works fine but no left click. This is also true for the touch screen. If I touch the window icon to open the menu, it changes color but does nothing. Things I tried:
1-Connected an external mouse and it also doesn't work with left click.
2-I tried a restore point from last week to see if that solved the problem. Still the same.
What I did to disable the left click button. Could have been caused by a windows update?

After a series of updates, one of which must have been at issue, ALL of my conversion software applications now fail to /convert/ any files. The programs load properly but that is followed by various issues depending on the app.
Tipard will load, load video files, and start to convert... but immediately fail upon starting the conversion process.
Handbrake will load, but locks up on loading a file, any file, regardless of length, at the 20% mark.
MakeMKV won't load at all.
VLC randomly crashes, or refuses to play videos, music, or anything, after an undetermined amount of time.
My FTP software no longer loads its settings files and scripts.
And an annoyance, all of a sudden all my icons have little green check marks on them.

So I recently built my PC and had ordered Windows 8.1, but it said that it was upgradeable to Windows 10. So I started the computer up after completion, then installed windows. When I got to the desktop it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10. I said no because I wanted to research and see if it was stable enough. So today I decided to try it, but found out that I can no longer upgrade.
View 1 RepliesI had five games installed on my son's laptop before upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 10. These games were all running perfectly before the upgrade, but now only two of the five will launch.
The ones that won't open, are Gardenscapes, Mortimer Beckett and the Lost King, and Mortimer Beckett and the Crimson Thief.
They are all still in the Games folder. Is there a way of getting them to launch, or will I have to uninstall and then reinstall them?
After the recent Windows 10 update my QIF file association launches the incorrect version of Microsoft Money.
Money is an old legacy programme that is still running JUST ...and I need to be able to customise the file association.
If I click on properties on the qif file I am given the INCORRECT option to use ....MoneyCoreFilesmnyimport.exe %1
What it SHOULD say is MoneyCoreFilesmsmoney.exe %1 ...... and no my default MSMONEY option doesn't work either. How/where do I make this change?
The actual upgrade process went completely smooth, without a hitch. HOWEVER, after restarting the now upgraded Windows 10 environment does not allow for basic functions such as taskbar, web browsing, right-click desktop, click on Edge or Notifications and nothing happens, etc etc...
View 9 RepliesThe touchscreen has stopped functioning since the recent Windows 10 upgrade. Everything else works great. There are no new drivers I can find yet Lenovo claims that this device is Windows 10 compatible.
View 1 RepliesI just upgraded to Windows 10 as I planned to use the weekend to sort out any issues I might encounter during the upgrade. Well boy did I ever. My Seagate 3TB drive decided it no longer wanted to be recognized by Windows anymore. It shows up as a failed/deactivated drive in Disk Management as seen here: [URL] It also shows up in Speccy as a physical drive. I currently have 2TB of data on there (including an OS image I did just before the upgrade as an extra prep step), so reformatting the volume is not an option until I get the data off.
View 9 RepliesJust this past day I upgraded my Dell XPS 15 from Windows 7 to Windows 10, and I noticed I'm now having the same issue as many recently-upgraded users, specifically that when connected to a TV via HDMI, audio does not switch over to my TV's speakers, however, it stays with my computer's speakers, and video works perfectly fine.
In the audio devices panel, the Digital Audio (HDMI) speakers are displayed, but are listed as "not plugged in", as displayed below.
My drivers are all updated, cables tested on multiple devices, I'm running a NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M, driver version 10.18.13.5362
I've seen this problem in other threads, tried multiple solutions, but to no avail, therefore would like a solution specific to my model/make.
After upgrading to Windows 10, Windows Media Player no longer will play .mp4 or .wmv videos. They played fine in Windows 7, but now, when I try to play a video in WMP, I get an error message saying that WMP is unable to play the file. I am using the latest Shark007 codecs which say are fully tested and supported for Windows 10. Is there a newer version of WMP for Windows 10, or is there something else I need to do?

Will this windows 8.0 pro upgrade key work when i do a clean install of windows 10 pro version 1511?Or will it only work with a full licence key?
esterday I had my Tablet PC (Windows 8.1) returned after the upgrade by a technician. I have encountered some issues, some fairly minor, others more significant ---- especially Cortana and Search not working:
1. Cortana does not work. She is said to be unavailable because of the language and region that has been selected. The language is English USA (needed for the keyboard) and the region is UK / GB, surely neither of which should be causing any problems?
2. Search does not work. It generates the error 'class not registered'. I have encountered this error before, so from searching in the past I have seen that this can be caused by a number of different factors, hence it is hard to identify what to do.
I will work on the other issues after these two have been resolved.
I have visited the How To site and found that my situation is commonplace, complicated and worldwide. There are many in a similar situation in the UK. On the one hand it is comforting to know that I am not alone and others have resolved the problems --- eventually. However, on the other hand I note that many of the postings date from July, and feel it should not still be continuing to happen now.
If I have understood it, the problems revolve around getting the settings for region / display language / speech language configured in a mutually compatible way.
After an upgrade to RTM - if you try and run Control panel from the start button (right mouse) it appears but you can't do anything with it -- and it eventually disappears so you can't access any of the items on it any more.
I know you can do a lot of things in Settings via the menu -- but IMO if Control Panel doesn't work then it should be removed from any menu.
I have upgraded my 7 install to Windows 10 this morning. All works fine & 10 says my copy is genuine and validated.
After that, I decided to create a copy of 10 install on DVD with the Windows 10 tool.
At lauch of install, Windows doesn't recognize my old 7 key. I thought "ok maybe it will activate at the end of install"
But NO ! I get my clean & fresh install of 10 but it doesn't activate my copy.
So Win7/8 users who wants Win10, you should install your old version and make the upgrade manually. each time...
I have two desktops using a single keyboard, monitor and mouse via a KVM device. One desktop is running Windows 7 but I've just upgraded the other from Windows 8 to Windows 10.
All was 100% well on both machines before the upgrade. The Windows 7 machine is still fine (as you'd expect!) but on the Windows 10 machine hitting the key on the keyboard has no effect whatsoever. On Windows 10 set up I chose "UK keyboard" as usual; I think I've always done whenever I've loaded any version of Windows.
(The sharper ones amongst you will have realised that I'm typing this on the Windows 7 machine!!!)

View 1 RepliesI did an Upgrade from W7 Pro 64 bit to Windows 10 and it worked fine but the three printers attached to the computer no longer work. The print Spooler is stopped and all efforts to restart it fail with Error 0x80070057 "Incorrect parameter".
