View 1 RepliesI am running windows 8.1 and upgrade to windows 10. Install went fine but after final reboot I'm left with a flashing screen. when I turn off the laptop and reboot I get the login window I login to windows and the screen continues to flash, I cant access the start menu. how do I uninstall windows 10 and start again.?
View 3 RepliesFor some reason, Windows 10 taskbar is behaving in an odd fashion. I am unable to right click on the icons on the taskbar. I am able to launch the application, sure, such as file explorer etc., with the left click, but right clicking on any icon has no effect.
On the other hand, I am not able to left click on any of the icons in the system tray, but I am able to use the right click to bring up the menu. The same goes for the Start button (Windows button).
So in essence, right click on the icons in the taskbar does not work, and the left click on icons in the system tray, does not work. The opposite action on both, works...
I have restarted the system, and restarted the Windows explorer process as well, to no avail.
Just upgraded to windows 10 and on 7 I was using Ultramon, a super awesome multi-monitor program. Needless to say, ultramon doesn't work on 10 but 10 has some pretty great multi-monitor functionality already.
I've got two monitors and I have taskbar shown on both and buttons are set to show on taskbar where the window is open. What I'm trying to do is hide the Start Menu, Cortana search, and task view buttons on the non-primary monitor taskbar.
Also, I'm wondering if it's possible to change the Windows keyboard shortcuts? Trying to change the shortcut for switching between desktops to something other than Ctrl + Win + (Left/Right)
I'm unable to do anything. During the download, everything seemed fine. It started to install apps. It then said "This is taking longer then usual, it should finish soon". I stepped out for about 10 minutes, came back and desktop was flashing with no icons. I'm unable to do anything.

I just updated to Windows 10 from Windows 7, and now my computer starts flashing out of no where. The taskbar and the desktop starts flashing. When this happens I can not do anything. When it stops, I can not use the start button.
View 3 RepliesI've seen lots of people posting about this all over the internet but as of yet not found a clear fix to my problem. I registered for the upgrade a while ago and the 'check' said that my system was fine. It's a HP TouchSmart 520 and is 2 to 3 years old.Today I got the message saying that I could do the upgrade and all seemed to go well, no errors throughout the installation. However, as soon as one of the users logs on the desktop just flashes and you can't access anything other than ctrl-alt-del and the task manager.
I've tried booting into safe mode and trying a windows update (boots in safe mode with no flashing) but it finds nothing, and I've looked on the HP website to see if there is a W10 driver. It gives you a file to download which should check for drivers but that doesn't run in safe mode so a non-starter. And if I use the HP website it basically says that you need to use the windows update; which just sits there doing nothing.
If I go into device manager and try to do an update it says that the graphics driver is up to date. I am a bit hacked off that the HP website suggests that it's a product that's not been tested with W10, but the Microsoft check said all ok.
I have Window 10, just upgraded it was working great I turned my computer off and went to bed last night. Today I turn it on and now when I click the start button or windows key. The mouse just looks like it is loading, the taskbar flashes, and nothing comes up. I'm not able to use the Search Bar, however I can click my apps that are pinned to the Taskbar to open them. I can't right click on them tho to do anything with. I have tried to restart Explorer. It did nothing Also something else I think might be worth adding. I had Microsoft Edge pinned to taskbar when I turned my computer on and tried to open it is when all of this started. The Icon of Edge went black and then just removed it self from my Taskbar. Now nothing works.
View 9 RepliesI have 2 user accounts as previous before upgrading to win10, user account opens and works perfect, the main administrator account after logging in, the taskbar commences flashing and oscillating preventing me choosing i.e. Microsoft edge or chrome etc.
View 1 RepliesA few days ago, after an automatic Windows 10 update on my desktop computer, I found that: right clicking icons on the taskbar does nothing - none of the options appear; the start button on the left of the taskbar only works by right-clicking and accessing the old Windows 8 style options; the search icon on the taskbar does nothing; the Windows 10 calculator has disappeared - when I press the calculator key on my keyboard a message appears saying "You'll need a new app to open this calculator". It seems to have been deleted from the computer.
Until these things happened Windows 10 was working well.
My taskbar is missing and my icons on the desktop are missing as well the background is dark ....
View 1 RepliesSo I have a bit of a problem where my screen flashes, I instantly thought it was display drivers so I uninstalled them only to worsen the problem, the computer restarted with a black screen which later turned into a desktop screen with no icons and a flashing screen (can't click anything or even load up the start menu with the windows key). I put it into safe mode but it does the same thing. Nothing works except task manager and i can't run task from it or it will exit out, system restore doesn't fix the issue either. Computer is a lenovo k450 i5-4440 8gb ram 1tb hdd with an evga gtx 760.

View 9 RepliesI have a problem with windows 10 desktop icons after installing some update. My desktop icons cannot be rearranged on my own and its pretty annoying. Auto arrange option is unchecked.
View 1 RepliesWhen I open up the start menu it shows "We are getting search ready" forever. Worked until when I started my computer up today. I have attached a screenshot of this.
View 4 RepliesI can't use search from taskbar. It won't popup. I browsed other websites but in vain as I can't see Cortana or SearchUI.exe in takbar. Tried Indexing.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to have the search box show on the taskbar when the taskbar has been relocated to the top of the screen? All I can seem to figure out is how to have an icon for search instead of the box actually in the taskbar.
View 3 RepliesI have both desktop and laptop set up on 10. The desktop has "Search the web and Windows" on the task bar. It's not on the laptop. How do I get it.
View 2 RepliesSo, as soon as I had installed Windows 10 and saw what I presumed was a redundant search icon in the taskbar I deleted it. I assumed search would be in the start menu, but it isn't. Now I have no search icon anywhere. Is there a way to get it back?
View 8 RepliesI have the "Search the web and Windows" bar in my taskbar but I can't type anything into it. If I go to "File Explorer" in the start panel, I can search for files.
This worked in the past and I don't know what might have happened to make it stop working.
HP Envy desktop came with Windows 10 Home already loaded. Set it up with my program shorcut icons in the taskbar. Everything working just fine for days, and then all of a sudden (well maybe not as I had just installed updates from MS) the taskbar no longer shows those icons and the Windows Start/Search/taskview icons on the left and the HP Support/Notification icons on the right show but all are inactive.
View 7 RepliesEver since I installed Windows 10, a lot of text and icons in the search menu are not showing up ever. I've tried the obvious things such as restarting my computer and making sure I have all Windows updates. My start menu and everything else seems to work normally. Here are the screen shots of what I'm seeing:
View 2 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 and have been since it was first released. This morning I was playing a game, and my sound stopped working, so I rebooted my computer to see if that would fix it. It fixed the problem, but I had no icons pinned on my taskbar, no time & date, and the search and start button would not work. After hard-booting the computer for a second time, there was still nothing. When I open a program the icon doesn't show on the taskbar.
View 5 RepliesI did the sfc scannow, the powershell app thing, I think I did the DSIM thing too.
