View 1 RepliesI'm talking about one of the below transfer boxes. I no longer see one when copying files so I have to guess when it is finished. It seems to have started after my last weekly update. I'm running Build 11082 with all the latest updates.
View 1 RepliesJust set up new computer with windows 10 and am trying to figure out correct procedure to transfer old email, pics, documents, etc from the old computer running vista? I have an old version of a software called intellimover and a high speed USB transfer cable. Will that work ok with windows 10?
View 1 RepliesMy old laptop died, and I bought a new one with windows 10. How do I transfer the files from the old hard drive to the new machine ?
View 14 RepliesII am having trouble moving data to external sources via USB. It always happens partwaY through a transfer. It gives me messages like the transfer could not be completed, that the device is no longer found, or the files aren't available. Most times when I restart it the transfer gets a bit further than it did the time before, but never by much and when moving large amounts of files it makes transferring my media and data impossible.
Sometimes, after the computer is unsuccessful with the transfer the device is no longer recognized by the computer at all. It will call it an unknown device with ? next to it in the device manager. I try to install the drivers automatically but it just tells me I am using the newest drivers but will not register what the device is or allow me to view or transfer files on the device. Usually there is no problem transferring data from a usb connected drive to a different place on the same drive. It happens on both of my systems: An acer aspire one running windows 7, and a compaq presario running windows 10. It happens with all the usb ports (3 on each system). It happens even when I use several other cables to try to connect the device.
I seem to be able to copy files from the drives to the computer, but when writing to the drives it gets stuck. It happens with 2 external hard drives, 2 phones, 4 usb drives, a tablet, and sd cards. What is going on here? I don't think I could have that many bad cables and usb ports. If there is something wrong with write protection, wouldn't it just not transfer anything at all? I have checked for viruses. I can still play songs and look at pictures from the drives so I know the files aren't completely corrupted.
I just received a new Win 10 PC with a 500 Gb SSD for my primary drive (OS and programs) and an internal 1Tb conventional HDD for my data (library).
I would like to transfer my programs and files from my existing Win 10 PC to my new PC. My existing PC has two conventional HDDs -- both are 500Mb. The C drive has everything and the E drive is a clone.
Both the new and old PCs are running Win 10 Pro x64.
What programs do you recommend? I do have Macrium Reflect that may do the job. I'll be checking with their excellent support this week.
If I attach a HD that has Windows vista 32bit to my computer that have Windows 10 64bit (an SSD). Can I transfer music off that old drive and store it on to a storage HD?
*Windows 10 64bit is on the SSD
*I have a 1TB HD for storage
*The old drive has windows vista 32bit
I'm about to buy a new Win 10 gaming rig and wanted to transfer my entire Steam programs + files (most of the games I currently play are *unfortunately* on STEAM) from my old Win 7 rig using an external HDD.

View 4 RepliesI am using a Sharkoon Quickport DUO Docking station, in which you can mount barebone hard drives. The problem is, that when I try to transfer files from an external hard drive to - for example - my internal hard drives, I get the following error after a few seconds, and the transfer stops:
View 1 RepliesEver since I upgraded to Windows 10 it takes HOURS to transfer even small files from my camera's SD card to the computer's hard drive via the built-in card reader.
The "speed" meter barely goes above 300 KBS per second.
It is a SanDisk 32GB extreme card.
I just trashed my old computer and built a new one (moved from Windows 7 to Windows 10). I had quite a few files I wanted to keep, so I stored them all on an external hard drive. I can play the video files in question from the external hard drive, but when I try to copy the files to my internal drive (so that I can store my external safely) the transfer rate quickly drops to zero and then after a few seconds a pop up tells me that the file cannot be found. I know this to not be true since I can still play the files.
View 1 RepliesI wanna upgrade my Windows 7 PC directly using the Media Creation Tool, keeping the personal files only. Is it possible to specify which folders to keep?
At minimum, I would like to remove the 'AppData' folder to remove old cache and program files, but I'm still not sure if this is a good idea. The only folder I want to keep intact is my very large 'Dropbox' folder.
I considered choosing the "Nothing" option, except I don't want to re-download my entire Dropbox and put unnecessary stress on this 7yr old hard drive.
I was using Windows 8.1 then upgraded to Windows 10, but all of my personal files has deleted and I tried best of recovery programs and they're not worked for me. So, if I roll back to my previous version of Windows, does my personal files recoverd?
View 5 RepliesI had music files on my laptop which was running windows 7, but when I upgraded to windows 10 I can no longer find them and the available space is not now large enough to put the music back from an external drive, which leads me to think that these files are still somewhere on my hard drive.
View 6 RepliesI have fear that my files may get dissappear if i upgrade to windows 10 from windows 7. Is it so?
View 1 RepliesAs the title states I have an SSD and HDD setup, now I have set the Windows Documents, Pictures and Music folders ect and the app data on the HDD as you would.
And some programs are on the SSD and others on the HHD.
Will upgrading to windows 10 mess with this or will it just upgrade without putting random bits of it on my HDD.
I recently upgraded from windows 8.1 to windows 10. I can no longer print word or excel files since the upgrade yet the printer works fine, other files such as from Acrobat Reader print fine. When I print something flickers on the screen but too fast to read, and the job does not show up in my print q. The troubleshooter shows everything is working fine. I have tried printing new files and old archived files and nothing prints in Excel, yet the program otherwise works fine. What can I try to resolve this?
View 1 Repliescan some of you do an sfc /scannow and check your results with the November update installed? View 1 RepliesAfter upgrading to Windows 10, csv files are no longer opening correctly in excel. Before upgrading the data would display correctly in columns. Since the upgrade the data displays all in one line instead of being in columns. What I need to change?
View 4 RepliesI want to know do they stay intact or does it create like a windows.old folder with your file pushed there? I need to know this before i upgrade...
View 1 RepliesWindows 10. I'm at the "Upgrading Windows" screen and it's been stuck at 25% (copying files 84%) for over an hour. Is this normal?
View 7 RepliesI have tried to upgrade from win7 to win10 after copying the files and the system restarts, I will get the error 0xc000000f. I have both win7 and win10 disks and the automatic repair would not work.
Apparently this has to to with some bios settings, I have tried to follow the guide but I do not have all the options to described in the guide below.
