View 3 RepliesUsing the same settings and programs as in my 8.1 installation. Nothing funny, or game-related running in the background (also tried disabling everything possible). The problem is that the monitor will not turn off, either from the Power/Display power-off options (nothing happens after set time passes), or with a program like ScreenOff and Monitor Off.
Using one of these apps, will start turning the monitor off, but it will turn itself back on automatically almost immediately. Something is interfering but I cannot figure out what. No security software installed (using Defender, tried disabling it). The only way this works as intended, is in Safe Mode.
I did an upgrade from Win 7 , and Screen Saver / Turn off display after 5 mins was working under Win 7 64 bit.As my title suggest Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins are not working under Win 10.The Lock screen Slideshow is there when Win 10 starts but only shows ONE image, never moves to another.
THINGS I've done so far to get any of these working ...Screen Saver / Lock screen Slideshow / Turn off display after 5 mins.I’ve turned off all the Wake on lan functions.Tried different folder/ images for the lockscreen Slideshow ,window spotlight and picture.Tried to set new power options , was able to get SLEEP to show up in "Start" as it was not there before, but once click , the display DID turn off, but wouldn’t turn back on with mouse movement keyboard presses, had to do a hard reboot. Win 10 started without issue and the SLEEP mode was no longer aviable via the power "start" menu.
how to get all of these working. Really would like my display to turn off after 5 mins , and the Screen saver to work , the Lock screen.
I upgraded my Windows 8.1 computer to 10 over a month ago. Although I like Windows 10 a lot, there is a problem I've been having with the monitor not turning off automatically.
The display is set to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity, but it never does. No matter how long I set the wait time. I set up a hot key to automatically turn the monitor off. It worked in 8.1 but in Windows 10 the monitor turns off for a half second and then turns right back on.
I did not change any hardware settings when I went from 8.1 to 10. I've tried unplugging various things connected via USB but nothing so far has solved this problem.
The monitor I have is the Dell E2414Hx 24-Inch Screen LED-Lit Monitor.
I noticed my power options only seem to work once. If i go into power settings and set it to turn the monitor off in 1 hour it will work. Once I move the mouse and turn it back on it wont work a 2nd time until i change the time to a different number like 45min.
View 1 RepliesIs there a way to prevent the screen from turning off when the computer is locked? She likes her lock screen images but the screen turns off after 30 seconds or so when locked. (I tried telling her to use desktop wallpaper, but she likes the lock screen better.)
View 1 RepliesSince upgrading from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 10, my monitor/display on my desktop will no longer go to sleep/turn off after the scheduled 5 minutes. I had no issues with this in Windows 7. I have updated the BIOS, video drivers, USB wireless mouse driver and anything that could be related and no change. All i want is for the monitor to turn off after the set time. I don't use a screensaver. There is no driver update for the monitor (Viewsonic VX2450). I've also tried uninstalling the monitor driving and reinstalling but no change. Seems like the system also will not sleep when set to sleep.
View 3 RepliesI am having an issue with the Windows 10 machines that I have installed thus far. I do not use a screen saver, but use the power settings to turn off the display after a certain period of time. When the display goes off, it forces me to authenticate to get back on the computer. I have tried to shut off the screensaver, check, than uncheck the box for "On resume, display logon screen". No matter what I do, I cannot get this to NOT make me authenticate when reawakening the display.
I do run a domain at my house for background info. Been working on this for a few days now with no real progress.
Uninstalled Office by mistake. I need the files. Tried Sys Restore but error says something like "a file could not be accessed and sys res did not work turn off anti-virus". Tried with anti-virus off (Avast). No go.
View 4 RepliesI actually have two issues (the second being that the built-in microphone isn't working, but that's the least of my worries). I have my laptop connected to an external monitor & I can't get any non-system sounds to play.
Dell Laptop w/ only HDMI video connected to Dell VGA monitor (no speakers) via an adapter that has a 3.5mm jack for speakers. I can get system sounds via the laptop's speakers, but I can't play MP3s and YouTube videos have no sound. I had things working at one point (no, I cannot remember what I did or can find the tutorial that I used), but after moving my desk (unhooking the laptop from the monitor), cussing at non-functional microphone, and setting things back up, I'm back to no sounds. When I did get the speakers to work, they were working on the 3.5mm headphone/microphone jack on the laptop, but not through the jack on the HDMI/VGA adapter.
I've seen things about disabling the HDMI audio controller. I cannot change the default audio devices via the sound dialog box that is available by right-clicking on the sound icon on the bottom right of the screen. I'm assuming that the Dell speakers that are stuck as default are the on-board ones on the laptop.
Does the new Maps app being built for the phone and PC features voice turn-by-turn navigation? I know the current Maps app does not. You need to use Here Drive or another third party app for voice navigation.
View 1 RepliesI am having problems with me Mouse and key board, on boot up they will turn on for about 20 seconds then turn off. Then a error comes up,inaccessible_ boot_drive. But if I restart my pc the mouse and keyboard will do the same thing but instead of the error I get, choose keyboard layout, and a list of options but I cant choose them because the mouse isn't working. This all started happening after I upgraded my power supple but I when I put my old power supple in I had the same problem. I have windows 10and I have tried using different keyboards and different usb ports.

View 4 RepliesI'd like to hide the language bar, as I did with Win7. Currently I have 2 keyboard layouts installed (German, which I use and English) My display language is English, and it seems I cannot remove the English keyboard layout. Under Win7, when only one layout was installed the Language bar would disappear automatically: how to hide it in my case?
View 9 RepliesI hate how I have to continuously press the brightness 50 times to get it to where I want it. Is there a way I can change it to go up or down in fives? Or can I at least change it so I can hold the button down and it will keep going until I release it?

View 6 RepliesHow can I remove the login screen? Is there a workaround or do I need to sign off completely from MS account? It would be perfect if I could somehow just remove it from startup. Ill explain you what I mean, when I turn on the PC I want it to boot up without me entering a PIN otherwise the programs on background wont start. But when the PC is already running and I am away from it I would prefer if the PIN function is working. But if its not possible I want it to disable completely.
My PC is set to turn on by itself at 9:00 AM so some important programs can boot up while I am not at home but they wont cause there's noone to enter the PIN right?
how do i stop or turn off my pc? It stays on all the time

I know that in this case I need also to know what is the primary display or how to get only the primary display value because I want to get the value that set only for the primary display..The key "LogPixels" in HKEY_CURRENT_USERControl PanelDesktop Is no longer relevant for me in Windows 10.
I noticed we had updates automatically installed today. The next thing I noticed was that when working in Excel if I didn't move the mouse within one minute the display turned off. After trying a few other programs I realize that it turns off after a minute in almost all my programs or even when I'm just reading a newspaper. If this is something from the latest updates? I never experienced this before. In fact, it just turned off while I was mulling over this post.
View 19 RepliesI just bought a LG 34UM95C which is a QHD monitor capable of 3440x1440.
I have an HP Envy 700 which is an i7-4790, 24GB RAM, with an NVidia GeForce GTX 745 graphics card (4GB RAM). The max resolution I can see is 1920x1080, but per this site, I should be able to get a much higher resolution.

What can I do to get my graphics card to provide the full 3440x1440 resolution?
Any way to turn off: "Check for solutions to problem reports"?
I would like to stop receiving notifications. In Control Panel/Security and Maintenance this feature is listed under "Maintenance" with no option to disable. On the left side there is a link for:
"Change Security and Maintenance Settings", but there is no option there either to turn this off.
My Question is that how can I permanently turn off windows 10 updates . I am using Windows 10 Enterprise .
