View 3 RepliesIn Windows XP, when I print a doc from my PDF viewer, I can select my network attached printer's FAX machine and send a fax. In Windows 10, when I print I have a print destination of 'Fax' which puts me into the Windows 10 Fax code which tells me that I don't have a fax machine set up and then we go downhill into total irrelevancy.
View 5 RepliesI purchased an HP ENVYphoenix computer in 2015 and have upgraded to Windows 10. I was able to scan from my computer to my HP printer prior to the upgrade. The scan function is on longer available at the printer LED screen nor from my computer.

View 8 RepliesEarlier today while playing Dying Light, my PC randomly blue-screened with the error "page fault in nonpaged area cpuz136_x64.sys" - After running a malware scan, nothing was found. After that I cleaned my registry with CCleaner. I haven't played Dying Light since then, but a few minutes ago I decided to run sfc /scannow - and It came up with a few files that were corrupt.

Does SFC /Scannow really work? It always finds corrupt files in all of my systems regardless of the age of the OS install. Out of curiosity, I installed a pristine Windows 10 Pro on a clean, formatted, erased and empty(?) hard drive with no apps installed on a spare laptop . Ran SFC /Scannow and it reported corrupt files.
View 2 RepliesResponse following sfc scan, windows resource protection found corrupt files, but was unable to fix some of them. I have the CBS log, but don't understand any of it.. I looked at an article that said replace files with a new copy, and I didn't understand that!

I got new router today and I can't access my printer wirelessly anymore. I removed my printer from devices and printers and tried a reinstall. It's a cannon Pixma 3150 and Windows 10 Home. The router was faulty so got new 1 off Virgin. But as it's a new password my printer appears offline. So I removed the device and tried reinstallin it with option of install printer wirelessly using USB connection. But as soon as I plug usb in, windows 10 adds the printer itself and then I get the error printer driver is already in use and I can't go any further with the setup.

I'm trying to share the printer with another computer (B) also running windows 10, both computers can see each other on the network but when B tries to look at A it gets a message that it can't access A.The printer is shared and as a far as I can see file and printer sharing is enabled but the add printer routine can't find it.
I can see A and it's shares on a W7 computer (C) on the same network without problem and it has detected and can use the printer.All computers are in the same Workgroup and both W10 machines (A+B) are in the same Homegroup.B was able to use the printer when it was attached to D, unfortunately D is now dead and replaced by A.
Upgraded to windows 10 from windows 7. Computer will not recognize the printer on some websites ...

View 1 RepliesDue to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.

The printer, an Epson DX4400 is a few years old I know, but it is still very good and I dont really want to get rid of it.
I recently upgraded my system to Window 10 from 7. But the printer-HP LaserJet M2727nf- failed to operate, even after reinstalling the printer software. Nor I could extract from winzip files. I reverted back to Window 7. All fine now.

When I first set it up I was asked for an email address and password, I entered my hotmail email address and password and it allowed me to continue. Since then when I have tried to access hotmail.com on internet explorer it won't load at all. And when I've tried to access it on the mail icon on the home screen, it opens up but says that my account needs to be updated so I click on the link to do this and every time it starts to load for a few minutes then comes up with an error?
View 19 RepliesAfter upgrade from 7 to 10 my 2 brother printers were visible and apparently ready. The HL2270DW would not print - just spooled forever but the MFCJ825DW worked. I tried using the Brother uninstall tool to remove the laser driver then installed the W8.1 package for it. Would not install. So I wondered if the other printer was to blame and removed it as well and re-installed. I have done this many times now getting progressively more thorough including removing all mentions of Brother drivers using Devices and Printers interface, uninstalling in Device Manager installing in a different order and as administrator, removing folders left over etc. The result is always the same. I can get one of them installed but attempting to print gives the error Driver not installed - do you want to install? Click through, install via windows process but it fails anyway.

I want to go back to windows 8.1 (Don't have windows.old folder), but it gives me an error when I install it when windows is running. That's why I want to boot from DVD, but I can't.

The internet group is shown on internet connections (shows “connected, secured)
I have contacted my internet provider and they advise that it is a “windows10 software problem”..
After the latest Widows pro 10 update I am unable to access my home network drives. Both the Synology and Buffalo drives were accessible but now are not viewable from the desktop.

The laptop picks up the drives and acknowledges that they are there and working but they do not appear in file explorer. I have looked in disk management and the drives are there and healthy. The USB ports work 100% as i have plugged in keyboards etc to test and all the drives i've tried work with other computers. I've reinstalled windows twice. Ran various disk cleanup utilities, checked for hidden drives etc.I need to upload video files to my laptop to edit for work.

I have a NAS (WD MyBookLive) which cannot be accessed in Windows Explorer on my brand new Surface by IP address (or name- though that doesn't work on any of my devices for some reason). I can access the config page in my browser by IP, and two other Win10 devices on my network can access the NAS by IP in Explorer fine, and I can access other devices on my network by IP fine on the Surface but for whatever reason only this computer can't access that NAS in Win Explorer.
I just got the Surface yesterday and was able to access the NAS fine, the only thing that's changed is I renamed the device and restarted and since then haven't been able to connect. I've restarted both the PC again and the NAS but no change.
