View 14 RepliesUsing FF in this forum, Right click on a dropdown item (like Forum Actions, Quick Links) does not have an option to open in new tab, like Chrome for example. But, you can drag/drop the dropdown choice to the New Tab "+" on the open tabs bar, and it will open. Maybe this is old news, just wanted to pass it on..
View 9 RepliesI switched from chrome to firefox since chrome was draining the battery of my xps 13 (i5, 4GB). Battery life after switching to firefox is significantly better, but performance wise, everything is so sluggish while using firefox. It even lags when I tried to open a new blank tab- took like have a second after I clicked the "plus" sign to open new tab, then opens the tab in segments. The lag also happens to almost every command I have for firefox.
View 1 RepliesFirefox 43.0.2 and Win 10 ... when use Cortana and speak 'Open Firefox', Firefox starts but does not open at the defined Home Page ... instead starts at a Google search with a search argument of "Open Firefox".
Firefox is defined to be the default browser and after FF starts the Home Page can be accessed by clicking the 'Home page icon'.
When FF is started without using Cortana, the Home page is displayed.

View 1 RepliesI have recently bought a laptop from PC Specialist. The initial setup went ahead without too much drama, however after having used the laptop for a couple of times since then, I logged in today and find I can't open and use the Mail app. The first thing I noticed was the Mail symbol had disappeared from the Taskbar and I can't find it on the Start menu or under All Programs either. The actual app on the right of the Start menu is showing but does nothing at all when I click on it although it does show headers from the emails in the Inbox. I have also tried to find the program in the Uninstall list but it's not there either.

View 3 RepliesI think It started after I resubscribed to Kaspersky a few months ago. Most programs wont open or when they do its 10-15 min to do so. No mouse at times. Unable to acsess start screen on other files. Will get stuck in a restart/shutdown which I will then do a hard reset. After it comes back the issue remains. I am fairly capable of trying different things but have had no luck, chasing "fix's" So far I have tried the following:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled chrome
- Installed malwarebites and removed 144 "threats" had read Kaspersky and mw bites were competing for CPU so I uninstalled it. currently not on my machine.
- Viewed kasperskys cpu usage in task manager at the most for a moment is 23% typically 3-4%
- Contacted kasperskys support asking about its functionality within windows 10. they had my select an option in settings "concede resources to other programs
- Disabled Kaspersky "protection extension in chrome
- Reset winsock and restarted which worked for a day (yesterday) now back to same.

View 1 RepliesSo I have an HP Envy laptop. Recently web browsing has intermittently become painfully slow on both Edge and Chrome (e.g. loading this website hung for a few minutes) and I have many timeouts on websites. This appears to be the case even when I use different Wifi networks. I do not have this problem with my desktop which shares the network.
I was wondering in Windows was in the middle of some update, but when I click on Settings -> Update & Security Settings, the control panel window simply loads a white field on the right and the words: Windows Update, Windows Defender, Backup, Recovery, Activation, Find My Device, and For Developers. I can click on nothing. The control panel often freezes (e.g. if I click on a web browser I cannot click back on its icon, but can see it if I minimize all other applications) and eventually auto-closes. When I search for Advanced Windows Update settings, I get a light blue screen with the control panel icon in the center which promptly auto-closes. I can access all other control panel options, just not anything below Update & Security.
I downloaded Microsoft Security Scanner and ran than across the entire system; no threats were found. I currently am running Windows Defender which last updated itself this early this morning.

View 1 RepliesWhen I open an image on my windows 10 PC it fails to open in the photos app and force closes the app and shows the message "file system error (-2145042388)". Some other apps like Adobe Reader touch, Mail & Calendar, Calculator and many more are also not opening. When I connect the PC to Internet it works and all apps open but with a delay.
View 3 RepliesI downloaded Win 10 yesterday. Now when I put something in the search bar in Firefox or IE nothing happens. The 1st tab in Firefox continues to say New tab and does not change to what I searched for. IE states this page cannot be displayed. When I click on one of my favorites in either browser nothing happens. If I click on something in the menu bar it works. However, I cannot use either browser if the search bar does not do anything. I did download Firefox again but that didn't work. I tried changing my default search bar to Firefox but that didn't work either. Also, is there any way to get the menu bar back in Edge?
