View 7 RepliesWhen ever I try to go to the useraccount etc tab in settings the box opens and just closes I get no error message or anything.
I have tried going to settings from all the places you can and it makes no difference.
I have run sfc /scannow and it does detect corrupt files but I have no way of repairing them
I've upgraded to Windows 10. I'm trying to set up Cortana (in UK) and I'm stuck with a sign in problem with MS account.
I know my MS account password but the next window asks for my previous password, which I don't remember. In fact, I didn't have to log in to my local account. I've tried several different passwords and I've tried it 'blank' but to no avail.
So, I'm stuck! I can still use my machine ok but I can't finish setting up Cortana.
Since I've updated to 1511 10586, I'm not able to click in Start Menu, click in my user name and sign out. What happens is that the menu that has to appear when you click on your username does not show anymore since I've updated to 10586 build.
It is posible to Sign out using any of the other options like alt+f4 or win key + X and Shutdow or Sign out.
why this menu is not diplayed anymore?
After logging on I get a popup message saying, "Failed to connect to a windows service. Windows couldn't connect to the Group Policy Client service. This problem prevents standard users from signing in"... How do I rectify this problem.

View 1 RepliesUntil yesterday everything was working fine. This night I shutdown my computer and this morning, when I started it up, I noticed the icons of my dekstop in the default location and with the default dimensions.
I repositioned them , I changed icon dimensions again but if I sign out/sign in , restart , shutdown/startup the computer , all my desktop icons go back to default position and default dimension.
Due to corrupt windows files my pc is unable to start. i am able to go into the bios, but after that it will freeze on the windows logo during start up. i have made a usb windows 10 installer and tried to start the pc up using that as my hard drive (went into bios and changed it to use that as my hard drive) but it still freezes on the same screen. I even unplugged my hdd and booted up but the same thing happens so I don't believe the problem is with my hd.
View 1 RepliesHow to sign in store only expect all accounts... is it possible?
View 2 RepliesI'm running Windows 10 Pro x86_64. My little cloud icon says, "not signed in". I'm signing on my computer with my Microsoft account and OneDrive gives absolutely no clue to any of this. No way to sign in with OneDrive and my normal account is fine.

View 1 RepliesAbout 20% of the time whenever I sign into my laptop since I have it locked using my Microsoft account my laptop decides to just lock up and be stuck trying to sign in. I either have to wait until it goes back to sleep or restart it which gets quite annoying. This isn't exactly a Windows 10 issue since I been having it since windows 8.1
View 2 RepliesI just installed the latest version of the Windows 10 Technical preview and it lets me boot in to the sign in page, but as soon as I click next or press enter after typing in my password, the page goes nowhere and eventually does the usual windows "not responding" fade to white followed by an immediate reboot of the computer. Is there any way to work around this? If not, how would I go about reverting to windows 7 if I am unable to access the OS itself?
View 1 RepliesI've had a problem where Windows was booting up fine sometimes, but other times it couldn't find the desktop settings, and I couldn't open any files (even though I could browse the hard drive) and there was no Start menu.
I've been trying various things to fix this, one of which was to set up a new user account. I followed instructions to open Powershell and I typed "net user TestUser password /add". It said it was successful.
Now I cannot even get into Windows. At the sign-in screen there are no users available at all (I just have the nice picture of blue window). I have tried shift-Restart to get to the troubleshooting options, but this doesn't work, it just restarts the PC and I get back to the same sign-in screen.
Just noticed my notification icon has changed and now has a little minus sign in the bottom right corner of it. What does this mean? I have most app notifications set to "on" only mail and onedrive are selected to be off.

View 2 RepliesI have tried to sign in with a Microsoft Account on by Windows account - When I do then it asks for my password on by Windows account. When I enter it I get the message "Oops something went wrong. Whatever happened, it was probably our fault. Please try again."
View 4 RepliesSign in option does not respond in Windows 10. I do not want to sign in every time I use the computer but I cannot change the setting.
View 6 RepliesThe situation is that I upgraded from win7 to 10 and I have a basic "local administrator account". When I go to my account settings and try to click on "Sign in with a Microsoft account instead", nothing happens (there is a brief background window that flashes and then nothing happens).
Similarly, if I try to login to the xbox one app, it also says that it could not sign me in. If I click on the "sign in with a different Microsoft account", it presents me with the option to "choose an account: Microsoft account". When I click on that, again nothing happens at all.
I get the same results if I try to turn on Cortana-- when she eventually asks to connect to a Microsoft account, I click "sign in" and again nothing happens (here again I sometimes see a brief window flash in the background but I never get a login screen.
Last but not least, I get this same result if I try to add a Microsoft account to the Mail App in Win10. As soon as I try to click to add an Outlook/Hotmail account, it flashes and nothing happens. I am able to add other types of accounts to Mail (google, etc). (Oh, and if I try to login to the Microsoft Store I also get the same login problem as described).
I'm really bummed b/c I cannot use a lot of features in Windows 10 and how to hook into a Microsoft account.
Things I have tried: I run windows updates constantly just to be sure, I have rest my "clock" and time settings repeatedly, I have made sure my location settings are turned 'on'. I have tried turning all of these things off and then on, then rebooting and checking for updates...still no way to login to Microsoft account .
I am enjoying my upgrade of Windows 10 except for I can't sign-in with my Microsoft account. I went from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. I can log in with a local account (same as Windows 7). I can't download any apps from the Windows Store, Microsoft Edge doesn't work like it should. BTW, when I click on "sign in with Microsoft account instead" in the settings, a window wants to pop up but suddenly disappears.
View 3 RepliesI signed in successfully in Windows 7, but 10 somehow evades me & goes to my browser Firefox. I don't know what to do.
View 1 RepliesCurrently I am signed into a local account in Windows 10. so I tried to sign into my Microsoft Account to use all MSN apps... But every time I click on the " Sign in with a Microsoft Account instead' nothing happens! As a result I can't use the essential MSN apps ! I don't want to go back to Windows 8.1 and then again upgrade to 10!
