Nov 13, 2015The November update hasn't appeared in Windows Update yet on my Surface 3 (Windows 10 Home).
View 3 RepliesThe November update hasn't appeared in Windows Update yet on my Surface 3 (Windows 10 Home).
View 3 RepliesHave visited numerous Microsoft sites but cannot locate correct download to update my Surface 2 to Windows 10.
View 1 RepliesI've been unable to find a way around this, but since updating to the 8/05 Win 10 update, I've lost the Action Center (Swipe from right edge) and open programs (Swipe from left edge) gestures on my Surface Pro 2. I've uninstalled the update and regained the gestures, but once it installs again, the same issue presents again. I haven't found a place to enable/disable gestures like these. This is repeatable each time I uninstall and reinstall the update.
View 7 RepliesI have a Surface 3 Pro with 2 external monitors hooked up using StarTech USB VGA adapters. Since the update, my mouse does not show up on my remote Windows Server 2008 R2 VM's when the Remote Desktop window is on one of the external monitors (works on the Surface Screen). The cursor is there, just cannot see it.
View 2 RepliesI'm having with my cd/dvd drive. Since downloading Windows 10 the drive hasn't been working and doesn't show up in This PC. When I put a disk in it it Just spins around for a few seconds then stops. The odd thing is that the drive is recognized by Device Manager which says its working OK.
View 13 RepliesComing home from work I try to start my PC and it does what I described in the title. Here is what exactly happens:
- Start PC
- See windows Logo + loading dots
- Black screen (for a while)
- Restart
No errors, no beeps, nothing. Then it restarts a couple of time and then I come in the "Recovery" screen with the text: "It looks like Windows hasn't loaded correctly".
I've tried to boot to safe mode, and this works and it seems everything is working correctly. I did a anti-malware test just to be sure and it did not change anything. I also checked if all Windows recognized all the hardware, which it does. Everything looks and works as normal in safe mode.
Also tried the Start-up Repair, but it says it could not find anything wrong.
I already have upgraded to win 10 on the first day, but I haven't gotten my notification for quite some time now. It does confirm that I have it reserved. Is there a way to force it to update?
View 1 RepliesSince the last update i now have a new icon appearing in the sys tray (bottom left hand corner of screen) It is a yellow padlock clicking on it (both left and right click) bring up no information but as soon as it is clicked it disappears and doesn't reappear until I boot up again. I have googled it but all I have found is that it could be something to do with event logs being full up.
View 17 RepliesMy Windows 10 was running perfectly well for one full week. Then this morning I noticed it installed some update and after reboot the screen went black and the cursor appeared.
I tried every thing but nothing worked. I cannot even access the troubleshooting, bios, repair, etc... Nothing.
After it reboots I noticed that if I type my password blindly the HDD LED starts to blink wildly as in loading my start up programs etc....
But nothing else happens when I try Ctrl-alt-del or win-r and type explorer.exe or whatever I can think of.
I'm on Win 10 (build 10240). I hadn't been getting updates for a while so did some troubleshooting and started to receive the updates yesterday, including the major November update 1511
But the upgrade didn't complete. It went to the booting black screen with a circle and number in the middle and progressed up to a certain point but then rolled back the changes. This happened twice and now when I check for updates, it says device is up to date and won't even show the 1511 update.
This "accuweather" widget randomly appeared on the far right of my task bar and I can't get rid of it!
Right clicking it gives me the option to either change my location or quit. "Quit" gets rid of it temporarily, but will be back the next time I log on. I have searched my computer for any files associated with it but can't find any?!
Is this a normal Win10 feature that came with a recent update or malware?
After resetting my Microsoft windows 10, an error - inaccessible boot device appeared
View 4 RepliesI've developed an odd problem with my Windows 10 PC. On the login screen, an Administrator account has appeared out of the blue. It has no password and is just there. I cannot seem to get rid of through the normal user accounts section of the settings. How to get rid of this?
View 3 RepliesI have a Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3, it was upgraded from Windows 7 Starter to Windows 10 early august. Working find everything until updating to version 1511 in november, after rebooting with the new version the WiFi appears disconnected, it only shows airplane mode and I can only connect to internet by cable. I have tried changing drivers, disconnecting and reconnecting wireless, even going back to former Windows 10 version, etc. but no way. WiFi appears with a red cross!. Why WiFi worked so fine in the former version and why it´s disconnected in the new version?.
View 14 RepliesIn my Windows 10 Mail, a cross-in-circle symbol suddenly appeared?
What is this means and how to solve and remove this?
A desktop icon suddenly appeared on my desktop.. If I delete it, the whole desktop is also deleted... The desktop folder on the drive, does not contain that icon...
View 7 RepliesMy SP3 was originally on Win 8.1. I used Microsoft's media creation tool to create a USB installer for Win 10, then upgraded to Win 10 from usb. After upgrading, I verified that Win 10 was activated. I then booted from the USB installer and did a clean install.
The strange thing is, every few days, "Activate Windows" would appear on the bottom right of my screen. When I try to activate windows, I get this:
However, sometimes upon restarting the SP3 it would be activated again.
So basically after a certain amount of time, when I reboot my Surface Pro 3 or sometimes even leave it running for that long, I wind up getting hit by an error that says that I need to verify my identity. I then have to go over to the Accounts option in Settings and then click the word "Verify" to type my PIN in, otherwise all installed Windows Store apps crash, Cortana becomes disabled and reverts back to the standard search function. I've already tried making a new User Account, reinstalling Windows 10, using an account troubleshooter, restarting and signing in with my original password (not the PIN), clearing the extra devices that are called "PC" under my account that my Surface Pro 3 seems to create every time this issue appears at URL... and Sign in to your Microsoft account, changing my Microsoft account password, and of course, verifying my identity by typing in my PIN. Nothing works. Aside from taking a hammer to the device?
View 9 RepliesSurface Pro, running Widows 10 perfectly, except when I want the on screen keyboard, selecting in the lower right task bar. It brings up another window, which allows me to select a keyboard, or scribe, then I want to select a keyboard.
BUT, every time I relaunch the keyboard, it goes thru the same process.
Why can't I have my keyboard come up without asking if I want to scribe or talk, just bring up the correct style keyboard.
It is in English which is the preferred language.
I have been considering getting the Surface 3 to use in class as an electronic notepad of sorts, as well as for general consumption use. I also have an ultrabook running W10, and when I'm at home I like to work using an external monitor. Obviously I can't lug a monitor to the library, but I was hoping maybe the Surface 3 would be able to serve that purpose when I work there. I know that there are Android and iOS apps that turn a tablet into a monitor, but are there any that do the same for Windows? The app can be a Store app or for the desktop, no matter.
View 3 RepliesCan't install 10049 build on my surface pro and its on fast ring.
> it says your device is up to date.
> Tried to restart several times by switching fast to slow and slow to fast.
I set a pin on my surface during technical preview. It worked until windows 10 went live and I updated my desktop. PIN works on my desktop, but it requires my password on the surface?
I tried to reset the security policies, but the option does not exist on the surface. I do however see red text saying "some policies on this PC are preventing some options from being shown." What policies is this referring to?
I have a surface pro 3 and I am trying to do an in place upgrade to 10. Both OSes are Enterprise versions. The install goes fine and eventually gets to a point where it will revert back to windows 8.1 with the following error: 0xC1900101-0x40017.
Small background on the machine: It is running windows 8.1 ENT, SCEP for virus scanner, is on a domain, has been originally imaged using SCCM
Here is what I have tried to get this error gone and get 10 installed:
Clean boot
Disabled all startup items from task manager and all services not marked as Microsoft
DISM /online /cleanup-image /checkhealth (succeeded)
DISM /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth (succeeded)
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth (Failed)
Ran via command prompt and all succeeded
net stop wuauserv
[Code] ....
found corrupt files but couldn't fix them.
Running offline scan not but I don't know that it will change the result of the online scan (done this before on other machines)
Tried running from local machine via extracted ISO (Failed)
Tried running from USB3 Thumb drive via extracted ISO (Failed)
I get that message on my Surface Pro 3 almost every time I sign on. When I click the "Fix" button what looks like a sign-on window briefly pops up and then disappears, then nothing else happens. Usually if I do that a few times the error will eventually go away.
View 11 RepliesI need to deploy 10+ new Surface Pro 4 Tablet in a matter of two working days.
practice to create golden image for Surface Pro 4 tablet running Microsoft Windows [Version 10.0.10586] ?
I have done the following steps but it failed (BSoD) this morning.
1. Straight out of the box it is Windows 10 Pro (10.10240)
2. Insert the SW_DVD5_WIN_ENT_10_1511_64BIT_English_MLF_X20-82288.ISO to bring it on to Windows 10 Enterprise (10.10586)
3. After the manual upgrade, I did the manual Windows Update check to apply the latest firmware & the rest of Windows Update. (Installed SurfacePro4_Win10_160128_0.msi firmware & win64_154014.4352.exe Intel graphics driver)
4. It was running perfectly fine yesterday evening on Version 1511 OS Build 10586.71 and then I manually update it again to 10.586.104
5. I ran Cleanmgr (Windows Disk Clean-up) followed by the freeware CCleaner64.exe to clean unwanted OS old updates to free up disk space.
6. I ran Sysprep to make the base line before capturing it as the base image for the rest of the tablet.
This morning when I'm about to hand it over to my CIO, it Blue Screen and crashed requiring me to reinstall Windows ?
Does Windows 10 cannot be sysprep-ed after fully updated to the latest ?
When i'm going to "Downloads" of the Store of Windows 10. All Updates are in progress. But nothing will be downloaded or anything else.
Also my Mail app won't even start anymore. It stucks on the blue screen bootup and never go further.
This is on my Surface Pro 3.
