View 1 RepliesSo after 2 failed attempts at installing Windows 10 on an Acer Aspire Z5801 PC, I finally managed to succeed. However, a new problem appeared after installation. The Wireless network adapter went completely missing. Windows does not detect its existence at all, it's like the PC doesn't have one installed. It doesn't appear in Device manager + isn't listed as an "unknown device". It's simply not there at all.The wired network adapter is there, but not wireless.
Installing the driver from Acer's website - I had to select Windows 7 64-bit as the version is all that's available for my adapter.I used a USB stick to transfer the setup files to the Acer PC. It said it successfully installed but still didn't appear, even after a reboot.Used a USB wireless adapter (Netgear) to see if it was an issue with how Windows 10 handles Wi-Fi - nope, that installed and worked fine.Scanning for Windows updates after using the USB adapter. Some updates were found and installed (no driver ones though), but still no Wi-Fi.
In the end, I reverted back to Windows 7 and what do you know? The adapter got recognised again. The USB adapter isn't a viable solution since it's required by another PC. I just used it for testing purposes.
I recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10. My previous laptop had Windows 7 and worked very well with my Brother MFC-J475DW Wireless Printer. I tried installing the driver for the printer from the original disk that came with the printer on the W10 laptop several times and kept getting a message that there is no printer. I went to the Brother website and downloaded the latest version of the driver and still get the same message. After some research I tried for the "built in" drivers, but with no success.
View 5 RepliesMy Dell laptop which is windows 10 only has a chronic problem with the adapter constantly needing to be reset. Searching for similar problems led me to the possibility of a USB adapter.
View 1 RepliesI started my PC in a new premises with a Wireless modem, I have two other PC's connected.
When I started the PC it saw the wireless network and the option came up to connect and there was a tick in the "Connect Automatically" box.
I selected OK but got a message "unable to connect".
I did not get the opportunity to enter the Password/Key.
Now the PC will not connect to the Network nor will and Diagnose and repair fix anything.
BTW the Ethernet adaptor has been disabled.
The laptop I am sending this from is next to the PC so the wireless signal is okay.
I have two 2008 Mac Pro computers running a bootcamp setup (OSX El Capitan/Windows) and have a 50 Mbps cable connection with Linksys WRT 1900AC wireless router. The wireless throughput on both machines worked flawlessly in Windows 7 but after upgrading both to Windows 10 the throughput dropped from 50 Mbps down to apprx 1.5 Mbps. Both computers use a Broadcom 5200 series 80211n chipset which are running the Microsoft signed version 5.100.245.200 driver. The wired network runs at full speed, and in OSX both wired and wireless connections run at full speed. I've seen a number of others report the same issue, but have never seen a fix that seems to work. I've tried updating the driver through Windows but get a OS message stating that the best driver is already installed. At the moment I have Ethernet cables strung across the living room floor, and would like to get back to wireless.
View 3 RepliesWhen I power up my laptop it connects to a network, that I don't have (xfinitywifi). I have deleted the profile, to no avail, I get to my network by cycling my wireless. Its really annoying.
View 2 RepliesI have two wireless networks at home, and one is faster than the other. This is because the slower one is wired to my desktop, and the modem and router are the same box. So I would like to remove the slower from machines wireless connected. I searched the forum, and got a solution, the command below, but the answer, as can be read, is that the filter does not exist in the system. I am attaching a screen that shows GVT-15DF at the list of connections.
C:Userslarau>netsh wlan delete filter permission=allow ssid="GVT-15DF" networktype=infrastructure O filtro nao existe no sistema.
I recently brought a new wireless network adapter for usb (Asus usb N14) and since I've started using it the connection is really unstable, I'm on the same connection on my iphone and it's just fine but on my pc it's really struggling, I've ran speed tests and it'll work fine when randomly it'll just go down, I'll still be connected to the router but have no internet. Right now looking at the wifi graph in task manager it literally going straight up for a few seconds then straight back to 0 when downloading a file, and I'm unable to download any large files because it'll just fail after about 30 seconds.
I've updated it to the latest version with no change in performance or reliability. One other thing I'm at Uni so other people will be using the connection and I've no access to the router unfortunately.
I have a laptop that is directly connected to a wired WAN internet connection and I share the Internet connection with other devices using the netsh command prompt. Is there any way to see who are connected and more importantly, how much bandwidth each device is using?
View 2 RepliesUnder Network & Internet i cannot see wifi although wifi adapter is installed and showing that it is working properly.
View 1 RepliesI installed the upgrade on my toshiba satellite everything seems ok except i cannot connect to the internet via wireless only ethernet cable and there is no sound. I have run a toshiba diagnostic and it offers no resolution.
View 1 RepliesUpgraded a client's Windows 8.1 machine to Windows 10 Pro today and it's now unable to "see" the HP OfficeJet 6600 wireless printer directly behind it. I've assigned the printer a static IP address and I CAN ping it AND print to it from a wireless computer in the back office. However, I can NOT either ping it or print to it from the front computer. The Add Printer wizard never sees it either.
The computer has both a wired Ethernet and a wireless adapter. Both are enabled and show up in IPCONFIG.
I have a laptop with an intel AC 7265 wireless adapter built in. With the normal Windows 10 driver, AP mode works - which I need to run Connectify.
I upgraded to the latest Intel driver as I was having other issues (Wireless would just disconnect and give me a 1609 address) but the new driver apparently doesn't support AP mode (hosted network support = no).
How I can get AP mode supported again?
This didn't happen right away. They worked fine for a month or so. It is not the ISP, my ISP is very reliable, they consistently give me the bandwidth I am supposed to get. 20MB down 2MB up. The problem laptop averages 0.3MB down and 1.5MB up.
The other hosts on my home network are not having any problems. I have another Win 10 Machine that was upgraded from Win 7 that is working just fine. One Ubuntu client and one more Win 7 client.
Fixes I attempted:
I went to the HP website and applied the recommended updates.
Checked Microsoft updates - none were suggested or required.
I removed and readded the network adapter drivers. Several times.
The hardware in question is:
HP Envy 17t Laptop
OS: Windows 10 Pro Version 1511 (OS Build 10586.36)
Wireless:Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter driver: 6.223.215.14
Ethernet:Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller Adapter driver: 10.1.505.2015
I have 20 computers with oem 7.1 that need to be upgrade on each computer. Instead of going to each computer I was wondering if there is a way to do it unattended? If you can how do you handle issues that may come up during installation?
View 1 RepliesDecided to upgrade my Surface Pro 2 to Windows 10 today (got the Pro 3 so this is kind of a test toy now) and after the upgrade I have no network connections.
Device manager shows it is installed and working properly however there are no network adapters listed in Network Connections.
I tried plugging my Cat5 Dongle in and it seemed to recognize and install drivers etc... but again, its listed as working properly in device manager but its not showing up in Network connections.
I m have activated my windows 7 on laptop using same shared key used for my business computers. If I will upgrade my laptop to windows 10, will it affect other computers which are using same key.
View 2 Repliesafter upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 I have no internet connection. From looking around various forums the problem is usually a VPN or anti virus issue so I have used the f secure removal tool to uninstall my anti virus and used revo uninstaller to remove hotspot shield VPN from my PC before upgrading with no success. The network connections icon looks connected when the pc is first turned on then it changes to the yellow exclamation mark. I have updated the network adpater driver to the latest and also tried plugging in a USB wireless adapter which has the same problem. Will refresh your pc in windows 10 resolve this issue and does this remove all my saved files?
View 5 RepliesWindows 10 upgrade results in the Network Center not showing any network connections. The troubleshooting wizard does not detect the issue or rectify it. There are a lot of reports on the web supposedly related to pre-installed Cisco VPN or other VPN software.
The downside is that without this feature, crown jewels... Cortana and Edge do not work.
I upgraded my laptop from windows 7 to windows 10 with the free upgrade that came out a while back. I recently bought an Ethernet cord to enhance my gaming performance, but when I plug it in it says identifying for a little while then says unidentified network no Internet. My friend came over and tried it on his laptop and it worked for his Windows 8.1 . I have a Comcast router/modem combo and have it hooked to a western digital router which is what the Ethernet cord is run from.
View 9 RepliesI have DELL Inspiron 14R N4010. Automatic upgraded to Windows 10 Home. Previously I have Windows 7 Home Premium. After upgrade I didn't see the wired network adapter. However my wifi is working fine and can access Internet. I tried to re-install the LAN driver (Atheros AR8152 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller Driver); it ask for upgrade/repair/de-install means driver is already present in the system. In spite of that upgraded the dirver (got the upgraded driver setup from Dell). Unfortunately, the device is still not visible in device manager.

I have two computers that I'm trying to get to communicate with each other so I can move files back and forth between them. My plan is to make one of them the home's backup and main storage system. the problem is that I can only seem to get one of them to actually communicate equally. Computer 1 is a factory Lenovo Intel i3 computer. Computer 2 is a home made AMD that I just built a few weeks ago.
Both are running Win 10 Pro.
Both are physically attached to the router. Heck, they're physically stacked on each other on my desk....
Using File Explorer, on the left side Panel under Network, it shows both computers: AMD and Lenovo.
Computer 1(factory) is able to the files on Computer 2 easily by going over through File Explorer. But, if I click on one of the files, I get the message that I DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION. If I try to cut/Paste files from Computer 1 to computer 2, I get the same message.
Computer 2. I am also able to see the computer listed under Network in the left panel. When I click on Computer 1 to access it, I get a Network Error Windows cannot access Lenovo (Computer1) Error code 0x80070035
I've tried the Diagnose option and it doesn't work.
If I click on a Drive under Network on the very computer, I can see the drives, I can see the directory list. If I click on a file, I get the error. Example on the left side panel on my AMD computer I select:
>AMD
>C:
>PerfLogs
It's at this point that I get the error: Windows cannot access amdcPerfLogs as an example
I've tried running through Homegroup setup and Googled for days on setting up a network with Windows 10 and can't seem to figure out what I'm not doing here to make these computers talk and communicate with each other. I eventually, want to get all my computers to talk to the AMD so I can use it for a main storage/backup for the home network.
How do I find my network DVR in Network and sharing center?
View 4 RepliesSometimes the video streams, other times I get the message ...
Can't play. Try playing something else. This items file format may be unsupported, the file extension incorrect, or the file may be corrupted 0xc00d36c4 (0xc00d36c4)
I know that the file extension is correct, and the file is not corrupted.
I didn't ever have this problem when using Windows 7.
I want to clean install Windows 10 on another hard drive. When the custom dialogue comes up and it asks me which hard drive I want it to go on to, it does not give me the hard drive I want to put it on as an option. It is a 160 GB SSD. Windows 10 was registering it as a removable drive. I have a dual boot system and Windows 7 does not register it as a removable drive. It' s been working well as in internal drive for a couple of years until this Windows 10 thing.
