When finished my work, I choose "Sleep" in the power options. Then, when I want to work again, I hit the mouse or any key, even "escape" amd it doesn't "wake up". After 2-3 minutes, I turn the machine off and re-boot.
View 4 RepliesMy computer went to a black screen again after installation, but after waiting for a while my computer fell asleep and I went to wake it up and the black screen was gone. I still get the black screen after I restart, but I just press the power button on my laptop, put it to sleep and then I press some button (any) and it's fine.
View 9 RepliesMy laptop, running Windows Ten from a clean install, has issues with the sleep function. About once a day, when I either put the computer to sleep or when it does it on its own, the screen will go black but the computer will not stop running. All the lights are on, the fan and disks keep running. Nothing works to turn the screen back on and my only option becomes to force a shut down.
I've tried tweaking all the power options in various ways, I've tried disabling/enabling hibernation/fast start and I've searched for an answer but I do not have one.
Freezing, black screen, no cursor, monitor goes to sleep, computer still running after upgrading to Windows 10 from Windows 7. Must manually force computer shutdown. HP desktop.
View 1 RepliesI hear the computer turn back on and the light is on, but the screen is still black. My mouse and keyboard are unresponsive (can't turn backlight on). I have to do a hard shut down. When it's back on, it's like it woke up from sleep mode, not a fresh restart.
This just started happening today I think so I did a system restore, but the problem persists. The only thing I remember doing today was updating my ATI drivers.
Every time my computer's monitor goes to sleep, on awaking the computer will BSOD with "kernel security check failure" or the screen will not turn on and reboot the PC.

View 1 RepliesI upgraded to Windows 10 and now I cannot wake up my computer from sleep mode. With Windows 7 and 8.1 all I had to do was tap any key and the computer would wake up. Now that doesn't work. I have to press and hold down the power button to force a shut down and then restart. This problem only appeared after I installed Windows 10. How can I fix it?
View 19 RepliesI have an HP pavilion g6 notebook laptop computer. I have recently upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10. I had occasion to put my computer to sleep! I had been working on my college courses for a few hours, when I needed to take a break. I put my system to sleep, but when I returned to complete my assignments my computer would not turn on! It went to an off black screen, and locked up! When at sleep the power indicater blinked, which indicates that it was in sleep mode.
When I tried to awaken my Pavillion it locked up, and the only way to regain control was to manually force it to shut down (i.e. hooded power button down.) thinking this may be due to system clutter I cleaned both user disc & system files using the Windows disk cleaning function, found through the control panel, looked for both HP updates, and Windows updates.
Later I again tried to awaken my machine after putting it to sleep, and had a repeat in the inability to awaken it! A third and the last time I tried to awaken my PC from sleep I noticed that for some reason, and somehow the indicator light was solid, the screen black, and I heard my computers fan running!
When I put my computer in sleep mode, it won't 'wake up'. I have to manually turn off the computer and then start it up again. This has happened twice. I'm not putting it into sleep mode until I find out what's wrong and that's exasperating as I normally leave my computer on all day so I can periodically play my games.

All was fine until I attempted to wake the computer from sleep mode recently and got the following error.
An operating system was not found. Try disconnecting any drives that don't contain an operating system
Press Ctrl+Atl+Del to restart
I disconnected the two external drives I had connected and tried again with the same result.
On startup, I've hit F12 to run through the Dell ePSA Pre-boot system assessment and it passes all the tests System, Cables, OS boot Path, Hard drive, cd rom drive, video card, cpu fan, system fan processor and memory.
I have the original 7, 64 bit installation disks, but nothing for Windows 10. What's the best way to get this thing going again?
When I wake up my computer from sleep mode I have to go to the bios to reset the boot drive?
View 1 RepliesMy motherboard is a P8Z77-V, with Gigabyte 7950 video card, if that matters.
I did the windows 10 upgrade, and all seems well, except waking from Standby.
If I go into start menu, and choose sleep, everything spins down, and the computer shuts itself off. I am assuming this 'sleep' is some sort of hibernate.
But when I leave the computer over night I come back and the monitors are off,but lights on tower on. I am assuming this is standby mode? Anyway, I can't wake the computer from it, using mouse or keyboard (both USB). Clicking power button on tower does nothing. I generally have to click the reset button on tower and do a full boot sequence. When I log in, I do not get a message about windows not shutting down properly (maybe that message is no more in 10?), but clearly it is a fresh desktop.
I reset all bios settings, and update to most recent bios. I have the latest graphics drivers.

Whenever I on my computer after I wake up or come back from work, my windows sometimes do not boot up fully. it will load and then gets stuck on an empty orange screen (might be related to the fact that I have orange set as my colour theme for my windows 10). I will then hold on to the power button on my computer to force a shutdown. Right after that, I will power on again and the computer starts up fine.
This has been occurring for a while - I didn't have this issue when I first installed (upgraded from windows 8) windows 10.
I tried googling my issue, and I have turned off Fast Start-up under power options but it did not solve the problem.
today my desktop went to sleep mode, and i had problems waking it up, i didnt know how to do it.Whats the default way to do this in a desktop pc? And even better if its possible, i would like to be able to wake pc by mouse clicking, is there any posible way to do this?
View 1 RepliesI can't remember when and how this started, but definitely after upgrading from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Pro.So, my screen (Acer LCD, connected to GTX 560 with 1 meter DVI cable) started going black (power light on, background light completely off) when I watched a video that had lot of dark on it. Happens in some games as well where the cut scenes change.
I tested it by full screening a plain black image and the screen went to sleep, mouse cursor dissapeared.Moving the mouse does not wake up the screen, only when i press Win key to bring up some color to the screen. (the task bar seems to be enough to wake the screen.)I have checked all the power settings and turned off all the sleep settings, 'Turn off display after' is set to 'Never' 'Multimedia settings' are set to ' Prevent idling ' and 'Optimize video quality'
Whenever I close my laptop lid to put Windows 10 to sleep, it won't turn off properly - the computer continues to run, as indicated by the power button and the three lights on the side of the laptop, but I'm stuck on a black screen and the only way to get out of it is holding the power button and turning it off completely. View 1 RepliesI have a Windows 10 pc I have never had problems with I was playing wow just now and the screen went all black and the computer kept running. The monitor said no connection found despite being connected to the tower that was still running. Naturally I tried restarting the computer manually. Now turning it back on nothing happens; the blue power button blinks orange; and makes a very loud clicking noise. This happens even when the power cord is plug in and you don't touch any buttons. I opened my pc and cleaned the fan still nothing.

It's not my 7870 or monitor as I tried it using the motherboard graphics and my other monitor.
In Windows 10's troubleshooting menu, System Restore won't work because of some file being deleted.Startup Repair requires a successful boot to enable Safe Mode, which I can't.Resetting with all files intact gives me the same result.Rolling back to Windows 7 is impossible due to Windows 10 deleting all my Windows 7 files.
What do I do aside from formatting?I need the files inside that HDD.

View 1 RepliesI bought my Razer Blade around November last year, and I automatically upgraded it to Windows 10. Since then, I've encountered the occasional glitch wherein I would run a game (usually either Heroes VI, but it does this with other games as well) and I would end up with a blank black screen. The keyboard is lit, and sometimes, not always, there is no audio playing. Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't work and I have to spend 5-15 minutes hard restarting my computer because when it restarts, it puts me back in the same state.
This went on maybe 2-3 times per week, until today where it happened to me again, but it took me around an hour to get it started up again. At first, I figured that it might have been my fault, and proceeded to download all the new drivers and uninstall, then reinstall all programs such as Nvidia, Intel and C++, but the problem persisted, throughout each mandatory restart. (Yes, I have seen the black screen on start up error, and it's not related to mine. I see no mouse. One thing to note is that my keyboard lights up when I turn the computer on, blacks out for a second, then lights back up again during the times that it does NOT display the Razer symbol upon opening.)

I got it to work finally. What I did was go to Geforce control panel, went to 3d settings then manually routed everything to use the Nvidia, instead of using the generic setting. It fixed itself after doing that.
