Wakes From Sleep After Update Install?
Mar 5, 2016
I did the w10 update fairly quickly when it was available. upgraded from windows 7 using their program. not fresh install. perhaps this is reason for weirdness.
My computer seems to be waking very often at odd times. using powercfg /lastwake i see one reason is:
"owner supplied reason: .../Media Center/mcupdate_scheduled"
My question: If media center was removed in w10 why does it still have a folder, and why are its pointless scheduled tasks still running? How do I remove these and other waking scheduled tasks?

Title says it all. After waking from sleep mode the computer disconnects from the internet and I have to reboot to get a connection. Makes the whole point of having a "sleep" mode useless. This is annoying because often I go away from m y computer for a few hours during the day and don't want to have to reboot to get back onto my computer. Rebooting wears out the components and is uneccessary when it should simply wake from sleep mode with no hassles. I have a wired connection via ethernet cable. My router is always switched on.

So as the title says, every now and then Windows 10 randomly decides to wake itself up from sleep. It doesn't happen at any consistent time, some days it stays asleep until I actually turn the PC back on. Using powercfg /lastwake just gives me a wake history count and doesn't provide any information.
I can't figure out why this is happening. I've tried googling it and have found similar complaints but no real solution. It's not hardware that is waking it up and I have already disabled the "allow wake" setting for my network adapters in device manager.

i don't want my mouse or touch-pad to wake my laptop from sleep when it gets triggered, I have been to 'mouse settings' & unchecked the part about waking up PC' & i hit apply & OK but no good. Now the touch-pad wont wake it up but my bluetooth mouse still does it. I'm at a lost as to what other settings i missed or if its a bug somewhere.

Upgraded to Windows 10 and now the computer wakes itself from the sleep. I have already disabled network adapter, mouse and keyboard from waking the pc. I have also disabled scheduled tasks from being able to wake the computer.

Post W10 Installation - my computer constantly wakes up from sleep. It just will not stay asleep no matter what, I thought it was my mouse so I went into my device manager and changed it so it didn't have the ability to wake up my computer. It stopped for a little while at least that's what it seemed, must have been coincidence because now its happening again. Which is weird because I went into power settings and turned "Wake Timers" off completely, it's now switched to disabled. Yet whenever I runcmd and type "powercfg -waketimers" as it reccomended here [URL] .... to find out which timers are on.
It says something about volume 2 on one of my hdd's, some stuff that doesn't make much sense to me. If you need me to paste the cmd info you're going to have to tell me how. Also when i type "powercfg -devicequery wake_armed" it lists "HID Keyboard Device" and "HID Keyboard Device (001)." Maybe the latter is what's waking my computer? I figured that was just another name for my keyboard or something, all I want is my computer to stay asleep and only my corsair keyboard to be able to wake it up.
Also everytime it wakes up I type "powercfg -lastwake" into the cmd and it doesn't give me any info. It says "wake history count -1" and the other 2 stats are 0, followed by no text or information. Also I forgot to mention but when it wakes up as of now, the display will actually stay off but the computers lights and everything are on. Whereas before when I thought it was the mouse waking it up, the whole computer would turn back on, display and all.

I've searched the board and found many similar problems to mine, but nothing exactly like it, and as such I haven't been able to fix it.
When put in sleep mode, my computer automatically wakes up at a set time.
I have disabled wake timers in the power menu, I have clicked of "allow [this device] to wake up the computer" on every applicable device (mouse, keyboard, HID-compliant device, NIC...)
Here's what the CMD-prompt says about armed devices:
As for the wake timers themselves:
since this a Windows process I can't just shut it down.I can't seem to find it in the Task scheduler though...

My system: Win 10 64 bit Retail, MSI B150M Mortar, Intel i5-6500, Samsung 512GB SSD, Corsair 2 x 4 GB Memory, etc.
Although my keyboard and mouse are allowed to wake the PC from sleep (in Device Manager), they don't wake the PC. Interestingly, pressing the "Power Button" on my Fractal R5 case does wake it up from sleep.

I installed Windows 10 right after it came out and have had very few problems but in just the last few days it stopped waking from sleep. The power light used to flash and it would wake from a mouse or keyboard button press but no longer. The system power will come on from a press of the power button but the screen remains blank. If I remove power from the system and then repower it and turn it on it will start the BIOS and re-boot to the state that it was in when I put it into sleep mode. Clearly the hibernate process is working but something is haywire with the wake process. How to troubleshoot?

So I just installed a security program, and my windows 10 pc oddly goes to sleep and wakes back up instantly, twice. It seems like it stopped, but I would like to know if this should sound an alarm for any malicious activity.

I am on 10565 Pro version though this occured in last build too. Whenever I come back to my pc in the morning after putting it in hibernate mode for the night my airplane mode is always on. I notice it first by my bluetooth mouse being disconnected and then wifi connectivity.
The one fix I tried is unchecking the allow to shut off option to save power under device manager properties for my wifi adapter.

My new Asus Win10 machine with a solid-state hard drive wakes up from sleep refreshingly quickly -- just a couple of seconds. But it takes between 15 and 40 seconds before the Internet connection is re-established. Once the connection is re-established, it works fine. But that delay is annoying. Can I do something to speed up the re-connection?
I don't know where the delay is coming from. My NIC is plugged directly into my Comcast cable modem -- no other routers or the like involved. The NIC on the machine claims to be an "Intel Ethernet Connection (2) 1219-V", running driver version 12.13.17.4, which is claimed to be the current version. The "Power Management" tab in Device Manager for the NIC lists three power-saver options, all of which are enabled (that is, the boxes are checked):
Respond to ARP requests without waking system
Respond to NS requests without waking system
Energy Efficient Ethernet
(I am attaching a PNG of the Power Management tab.) These options suggest that the NIC should be able to keep the Internet connection alive, even during sleep. So I don't know why I am experiencing a delay in re-establishing the connection.

I had this issue with my PC in January and went to all the trouble of a rebuild and a new motherboard. That was with Windows 8.1. However I now have this issue in Windows 10, it suddenly started a month ago. I am not moving the mouse or pressing any buttons. There is a 2-3 minutes gap and the system comes out from 'sleep' mode.

We have been using at home wireless logitech keyboard and mouse K270 and M505 respectively. All have worked great and have been using the unifying software. Since upgrading to Windows 10, I have been losing the pointer when my computer wakes from sleep or is unused for a length of time. Whilst I agree this definately looks like a window glitch. I have done all the usual things like refreshing drivers, new batteries etc.

My motherboard is a P8Z77-V, with Gigabyte 7950 video card, if that matters.
I did the windows 10 upgrade, and all seems well, except waking from Standby.
If I go into start menu, and choose sleep, everything spins down, and the computer shuts itself off. I am assuming this 'sleep' is some sort of hibernate.
But when I leave the computer over night I come back and the monitors are off,but lights on tower on. I am assuming this is standby mode? Anyway, I can't wake the computer from it, using mouse or keyboard (both USB). Clicking power button on tower does nothing. I generally have to click the reset button on tower and do a full boot sequence. When I log in, I do not get a message about windows not shutting down properly (maybe that message is no more in 10?), but clearly it is a fresh desktop.
I reset all bios settings, and update to most recent bios. I have the latest graphics drivers.
Here is some investigating I did, hopefully it works:
Code:
D:UsersShea.Wilbur>powercfg /aThe following sleep states are available on this system: Standby (S3) Hibernate Hybrid Sleep Fast StartupThe following sleep states are not available on this system: Standby (S1) The system firmware does not support this standby state. Standby (S2) The system firmware does not support this standby state. Standby (S0 Low Power Idle) The system firmware does not support this standby state.
Code:
C:WINDOWSsystem32>powercfg /sleepstudyS0 Low Power Idle is not supported on this machine. Cannot run tool. BIOS settings to check?

I'm running my audio via HDMI from my graphics card and it plays through the speakers built into my monitor.
When I first did the Win 10 update I had no audio whatsoever, and followed some suggestions on online forums that lead me to disable the Realtek High Definition Audio which I did and upon a reboot- my HDMI audio was working.
But then I had another weird issue. My PC is set to never sleep as I use it as a media server, but my screens turn off automatically after 10 minutes. What im finding is that when I wake up my monitors the audio stops. When I view playback devices I can't do any tests because "the device is already in use by another application"
(note: I have the checkbox for allowing an application to take exclusive control of a device un-checked).
So far there are only 2 ways to restore audio. 1) restart the PC. 2) go into device manager > Sound, video and game controllers > AMD High Definition Audio Device > Disable... wait a few moments > Enable.

My computer is trying to install Update to Windows 10 Home, version 1511, 10586, but can't. It claims there is no system reserved partition, but there is. This computer was upgraded from Windows 7 to 10, and immediately after doing that I installed a Samsung SSD and migrated the system to it using the software that came with the SSD. The migration went well and I've been using Windows 10 for months.
All of a sudden, when trying to do some updates it claims it cannot update the system reserved partition. The partition is there, it's 100MB in size. So I tried booting from the install CD, which I burned to do the upgrade (so I know it's a good disc). My computer recognizes there's a disc in the DVD drive, but no matter how I set the bios boot order it will not boot from the DVD, so I can't do a repair on the SSD.

My wireless HP keyboard Sleep function used to work perfectly before Windows 10 install. Simply used to hit the Sleep button to close down, and then again to reactivate the computer. Since installing Windows 10 it works to shut down, but does not reawaken the system. Very annoying - I don't want to have to open my laptop and hit the Power button every time, how to resolve.

I have migrated from Windows 7 to Windows 10.
Since the movement to Windows 10 I am getting a system crash with BLUE screen every time a new Windows 10 update is installed on the system.
Also is this being observed by other Windows 10 users too?

Today I had to do a reinstall to fix some things (it didn't fix them lol) so now I'm stuck. Windows 10 will not update. I get the error code 0x80240442 after a while. I'm not sure if its an issue with my drivers not being updated, but all of the web pages I have found that have this error code won't open. Not even the Microsoft pages, including hotmail.
