I have this habit of writing down quick notes on my desktop on an empty folder kind of to use as a sticky note. I noticed all my folders got deleted somehow this morning.how I can recover the folders and why they disappeared all of a sudden?
Yesterday, out of the blue, I was no longer able to left click on a folder to open it. If I right click and then choose open, it will open. I get the error message:
I have not made any changes lately and I don't know what could cause this as I have never experienced this on any version of windows. I am running Windows 10 Enterprise on my Dell XPS 8100 with an Intel i5 Processor at 3.20Mhz and 8 GBs of DDR3 RAM, and a 1 TB HDD which is about 1/2 full/empty.

Earlier today I had filmed a video and was editing it. I saved all the files to my D: drive (1TB hardrive) . I had been saving them in a folder that was a few folders deep into my D: drive.
This is what it looked like
D: New Volume - MurrayBros- Sketches - Video Games Suck - Firewatch sucks
I was saving them in the last one (Firewatch Sucks). When I had finished saving everything, I went to go look at my new video and the folder was gone.
This is what it currently looks like now
D: New Volume - MurrayBros - Sketches - new folder
all those files are gone, and the folder Firewatch sucks is gone, and the folder which I had named Video Games Suck is now titled new folder.
I was looking at a video on youtube, didn't do anything, all of a sudden the sound goes out. I make sure nothing on youtube is muted and it wasn't. So I right click my "SPEAKERS" icon (I'm wearing headphones) I click SOUND, then I click the SOUND tab, and the "test" icon is greyed out, meaning I can't click it. I haven't had sound in 3 days and nothings muted.
I had almost 300 g of 500 g free and suddenly it went to under 100 g. I did a system restore from before the memory loss and it is still there. can I find these 'files' and delete them or what is the problem?
I woke up this morning to a constant boot loop into blue screen that gives me a memory_management blue screen error and restarts then occasionally gives me a driver_corrupted_expool blue screen.
It tries to start up automatic system repair which fails and works very rarely. Once i am in the system repair screen i try the startup repair and it just doesn't do anything and redirects me back to the blue screen boot loop. I had restarted my PC this morning after it was working and then it just randomly started doing this boot loop.
I need fixing my issue with a bootable USB program i can use to fix the drivers or something. I need every other option other than reinstalling windows because i have tons of files i need on here.
One of my computers has suddenly lost internet access, and as far as I can remember all I was doing last time I used it was going on the internet to websites I normally go to. All other computers and devices are fine. The computer in question says WiFi is connected, but no programs can access it including Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and my VPN. I haven't noticed any other problems on that computer.
Here's what I've tried so far: Troubleshooting internet connection - no problems detected Scanning with Webroot - no threats detected Turning OFF Webroot - no change
When I try to access a website with Google Chrome I get the error message DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NO_INTERNET.
I've been in the Windows Insider program since it started, getting every new build, and I usually hibernate my PC to keep all my apps open, only rebooting for updates that need it.
This has been fine on Windows 8, 8.1 and 10, up until the November update. I downloaded the initial, "faulty" November ISO with the media creation tool, but didn't get round to installing it until after it'd been pulled and reinstated. So I used NTLite to integrate that update in to the ISO I already had and did a clean install of that.
Everything was great until the next morning when I turned it on again. It booted as normal until it got to the Windows boot screen, which flashed on screen for 1 second or so before the PC just instantly powered down, like someone had pulled the plug out.
I troubleshooted this for ages and eventually worked out it's hibernation and fast boot - the only way to make the PC boot properly again is to go in to the BIOS and change the amount of memory given to the integrated GPU so you're effectively changing the hardware of the machine, which makes Windows dump the hibernate images and boot from scratch.
Up until recently Ive had a steady and stable internet connection on all devices, however recently on one laptop the connection is now incredibly slow (multiple tests on bandwidthplace.com show download speeds of 0.1 Mbps while on another laptop connected to the same connection shows over 7mbps). Connection to my android phone works fast too, I don't know what is making this happen, Ive tried resetting the router, refreshing the connection, releasing/renewing the ip. Not sure what to do here, as I don't have this problem connected to other networks, and other devices on this network aren't experiencing the same issues.
I also updated to the latest available driver from my manufacturer's website and I'm not 100% sure if I have all the latest windows updates since the connection is barely sustained, but I believe I do as I frequently manually check for updates in addition to automatic updates being enabled.

My mouse has this crazy glitch since upgrading to Windows 10. I'll be scrolling and it'll stop all of a sudden and freeze for about three seconds. How can I fix this?
All of sudden Application and even print window is opening full Page thus I am not able to click even buttons like Accept, Next, Finish, Print etc which are overlapping the taskbar and even I am not able to reach below for cross arrows to pull the windows above. Though with Auto Hide taskbar, I am able to click these buttons but I am not liking this Auto Hide feature. Is there any other way out so that these windows could be permanently kept small size giving ample space both above and below these windows.
On Windows 7 start menu you could have a folder such as EA Games and then sub folders within. For example a folder for tiger woods golf, a folder for say Fifa and so on. It seems on Windows 10 you can only have one folder level. I have tried creating sub folders but all the shortcuts within the sub folders all appear under the one top/master folder when actually viewing the start menu. Am I correct in this observation/restriction?
I have a Toshiba Satellite and I'm running windows 10. I've tried pressing F5 and FN+F5 but nothing happens. I've had a look on various forums and all the advice seems to start with "go here", "go to this menu" etc but how to go anywhere without a mouse.
Edge just disappeared this morning on my husbands laptop. I have the same one and mine is still there. I tried resetting it by deleting the folder in packages and when I tried to reset, I got this error message. I attached the thumbnail. I checked his updates and nothing was installed overnight. He loves the browser and I couldn't find anywhere to go redownload it.
I have a weird problem, I downloaded the Windows 10 ISO using the Media Creation Tool and now for some reason, the Get Windows 10 icon in the taskbar disappeared so I'm not able to get any alerts when it's ready to install.
Well this a new one, yesterday I was downloading a movie, via Utorrent as I have done so many times before. As I do with all my films, I saved them in the directory downloads / Tv shows and films / films / movie title. As I expected, the torrent downloaded fine without any issues and I was about to get ready to watch the film when I noticed something odd. The folder containing TV shows had completely disappeared.
Additionally, I then checked the films folder, to notice all but 4 films (Including the one being downloaded) had also disappeared. I've spent the past hour researching, running malware scans (found nothing), losing the files doesn't bother me, at most, its an inconvenience. What's concerning me is how this could have happened, as mentioned above, I have ran multiple scans and found no evidence that the torrent could have been infected.
(I should point out, when I say disappeared, I mean complete gone from my system. I have checked the recycle bin, tried searching the names of movies and so on. I only have to look at my partitioned drive to see the additional 150GB of space that it now has.)
Well, I did something, but cannot find out what it was I dis or how to rectify it. This AM when starting Windows 10 Home, I had no icons on the desktop. Using the file explorer>desktop, they are there, so i did not delete them. Somehow I have hidden them from view. The normal app that controls the default icons does not have a hide/unhide, so I am at a loss.
this evening, suddenly whn i switched on my system which got updated to windows 10, is not showing any of my files / folders. i don know what happened. all vanished. jus google chrome , i tunes and recycle bin are on desktop. i cant find anything on it.
